"Andy Appleby says his bid for Derby County is in its "final strokes" as he looks to save the club's future and seal a return to the Rams.
The American businessman conducted an interview with Crain's Detroit Business amid plans to expand the United Shore Professional Baseball League. In the piece, printed earlier today (Tuesday), Appleby did not go into full detail over his bid for Derby but told Crains in a six-word update: "It's down to the final strokes."
The publication also said that Appleby was optimistic about his bid and expects to learn the outcome this week."

Who was that Roman Governor who sentenced Christ to be crucified? Oh yes, Pontius Pikelet.

So in the last 24 hours on here, we've had people on here openly criticising Quantuma for:
Ignoring the EFL (they're the regulator!).
Complying with EFL demands to sell players to raise funds.
Selling players and devaluing the club/risking relegation.
Not selling players to raise funds and cut costs (to avoid racking up so much extra debt paying wages etc).
And some people think Quantuma are the major problem here...

Well, quite often? Since I’ve nothing else to do, apart from sipping a rather fine cognac, slightly warmed, I went back through my last 50 posts and I’ve pulled someone up on spelling or grammar exactly 6 times. Is that quite often? And my brain is currently slightly sozzled so I don’t really understand the modernist bit. A literary modernist is someone who uses spelling and grammar in a novel, non-traditional way I think. My one such usage is the emoticon for a full stop which I admit I made up, but sounds so good I may have created a new grammatical style.

And CBX1985 using “affects” instead of “effects “ in a previous post an hour ago. Nothing escapes us orthographists and grammatologists ?

You old fashioned fools, I use my Tesco card and pay off the balance in full every month then spend the club card points at Xmas on beer. No, not the Dutch s****.
You have to screw your loaf and make them work for you.

Don’t say things like that I have just given my football boots a quick polish I was hoping for a start at the beginning of the season

I think there is a fear to put season tickets on sale at the moment from Q, in case the league don't allow us to participate next season. The longer we go without season tickets on sale, the more precarious our situation becomes as it becomes easier for the league to not allow us to start the season.
The administrators haven't exactly given confidence on their ability to put them on sale either. I also feel like there will be a situation this week where the league produce two sets of fixtures - one with Derby County and one without. Again, putting ourselves in a much more worrying, precarious situation. I just don't think they have an alternative as it stands.

You could not make it up. We’re in a crisis and the first substantive statement from our esteemed administrators for ages is not about the club but about ... them

“ Before a sale is finalised, there is an immediate requirement to secure the short-term future of the club, to allow players to be signed, issue season tickets for sale and to secure commercial agreements, as well as our best intentions to bring the uncertainty for staff and supporters to an end as soon as possible.”
……………..
It’s been a long day and fatigue has set in but I’m confused by this part of Q’s statement. If they “ secure the short-term future of the club” via another loan or a player sale, who actually then authorises the signing of players or the issue of season tickets if a new owner isn’t actually in place? Is that onus on Q ?

Yeah, the statement is an absolute shocker - clear they have been told to secure short-term funding to put plans in place to start the season. I would imagine this means assets will be sold (or loaned) and we will be going into the season without an owner.
A vile season awaits - god knows what state we will be in on opening day.

My missus' most common complaint about me is that she says I'm 'like a dog with a bone' and will just argue and argue a point to death...
She really doesn't know how lucky she is! This thread makes me seem the most relaxed, agreeable chap ever!
