  1. Anyone who expects us to walk League 1 and get promotion in the first season are absolutely delusional. We've lost the majority of our players and all the previous hard work, fighters and relationships we had on the pitch last year is gone.

All I want is one stable year of decent football with no off pitch controversy and a visible foundation we can build off of. I don't care if we're 18th next season, just want to it all to settle down.

Set your expectations low, and if we do happen to get promoted it'd be even more rewarding.

  2. We can be glad that Rooney held onto the job as long as he did. If he left earlier there would have been more negative press around the club and the perceived value of the club would have tanked even further.

I wish him all the best in his new role.

  3. I think we should definitely give Rosenior a chance. He's the one who did the on-field training translating Rooneys ideas of football into actual matches. He also knows the club inside out by now, and knows the players we've got left to use. Getting some one else new in along with a bunch of totally new squad would be a recipe for disaster as no one will know what the hell they're doing.

This isn't Football Manager. You need a blend of youth and experience, not just a squad of 23 players under the age of 23.

We will likely go into next season with at least 11 players aged 21 or younger even before we make a signing. [Foulkes, Cashin, Bardell, Buchanan, Bird, Knight, Sibley, Thompson, Watson, Stretton and Sibley]. They need experience around them to learn off. It's a major reason behind how we did as well as we did last season, with Davies, Stearman, Jagielka, Kazim, Shinnie, Baldock being the experienced players in the dressing room helping the youngsters around them.
It's why Man Utd field Paul McShane in U23 games despite being 36. Brighton field a 35 year old at CM for their U23s. 26 year old Baker for Chelsea. 32 year old Lancashire for Southampton.

That's actually one of the only positives of having Ikechi Anya around. He was in the 23s as he was frozen out but apparently was great with mentoring the kids and supporting their growth.

I've heard (same source who suggested the pink kit tip a couple of years ago) that Derby's new change kit is in a colour called 'potion'

A Google search for "Umbro Potion" comes up with a few images, including the attached 'Purple Potion' shirt from Brentford's training range last year.

He's the one who said the home shirt looked like 'a paint brush had been cleaned on it' - would that tie in with that sleeve detail?

Could be a modern interpretation of one of these kits

I dunno. They have Olise, Eze and Zaha vying for that position.

From the YT comps I've seen of the above they are all players who cut inside early and are more inside wingers. Ebiowei runs to the byline and takes players on on the outside. Maybe Palace are looking for a different option so this makes sense. Would probably be on the bench a lot and put on when their wingers aren't working out.

Just to add to the above, I spoke to a West Ham fan yesterday and he said when Upton Park was sold they sold every seat for £400. That’s £12 million right there for Clowes or MM to dip their snouts into. On top of that, all they did to UP and Highbury is make the pitch into gardens and turn the stands into luxury flats, so no expensive clearance costs either.

In short, it’s a very good investment for a redeveloper and where the money is in this whole saga, I’m afraid.

This would make sense if we were still in the Baseball Ground, but who's seriously going to live in a middle of a business park? The two things that made Upton Park and Highbury desirable places to live are that they were stadiums in established, fashionable neighbourhoods and they had brilliant architecture with storied histories.

No one will care about living on the site of old Pride Park.

Linked with Celtic now according to Nixon….

This doesn't surprise me. An Arsenal fan Twitter stats account analysed his play and he was found to have a similar play style as Kieran Tierney when they were looking for backup when he was injured.

That being the case, why have the club directors issued the statement they have?

Wouldn't they just announce their resignation together with a change of control of dcfc to MSD?

It might be a legal thing. The club might have to publicly state it's intention of entering administration as other businesses have to before it triggers the contract. If this is correct it's just a step in the process to get things moving.

  10. Incredibly sad news, I hope everyone here is dealing with it okay. It seems from Twitter that the last straw was the falling through of a takeover deal last week, meant Mel had enough and decided to enter administration. We've probably been told by a number of potential buyers that we have too much debt and risk and they're not willing to take the chance on our club. Interesting that the statement in the last paragraph says that we were denied covid relief funds (around 7 million) that were provided to every other club.

The scary thing now is that anyone could snap the club up for a rock bottom price, a new owner who could be a lot worse for us than Mel. We've all heard horror stories of owners buying clubs and intentionally running them into the ground and flog the land and building assets off to make quick cash. I also have absolutely no trust in the EFL making sure our new owner is "proper" for our football club.

  11. So far:

Ravel Morrison - Takes risks with the ball, passing it forward or playing sly passes to keep possession. Doesn't look like a rusty player at all. He's pairing really well with the Shinnie and Bird in midfield.

Sone Aluko - He can be seen all over the pitch at the moment, loads of energy, switching from the wings to number 10. Has tracked back and acted as a second full back a couple of times. Looks to be confident with both feet, first impressions is he's a really good player.

Sam Baldock - Constantly running past the defence and on the shoulder of the defenders. It's nice to have a striker who isn't constantly dropping back to receive the ball.

Phil Jagielka - Not seen too much as he's done anything wrong, looks solid enough and has paired well with Davies.

Overall we're dominating the ball, we're playing more attacking-minded, whenever we attack we mostly just have Davies and Jagielka back. We're comfortably playing out from the back and retaining possession too. Apart from Birds mistake that lead to the goal we haven't looked like we're being troubled.

    The 20/21 Hearts Kit unfortunately

It seems Hearts are using the same template from two years ago where we had jazzy sleeves. I think we're a "Tier 1" team for Umbro, where we get new designs first. Hearts seems to be a lower tier where they get old templates so unfortunately I don't think we'll get something this nice.

  13. If you watch all the footage of Jozwiak playing well, it's either a poor team or if it's a good time it's when there's space to run into. In the Championship most teams defend deep with 9-10 men behind the ball.

He's also notably staying wide and playing the ball quickly in these highlights, where as for us he's been told to cut inside more often and release the ball after beating a couple of players.
