  1. The most frustrating thing here is why did the EFL released the original dates in the first place? I've seen fans of other clubs had already booked hotels/trains.

I know I've arranged something for 19th May which will be our away game should we finish 5th... Mrs will be delighted if I have to cancel  I'm sure!

They really are the most useless organisation in world football.

For theirs it was a clear and significant shirt tug holding him back from the header. No question it was a pen.

For ours, while Maguire was probably wrestled to the ground he's a big lad and was wrestling back and had an arm all around the defender, so it could be argued he'd created the situation and gone down looking for the penalty. Absolutely no need and, as a result, the VAR officials couldn't give the pen. We've got to be cleverer in those situations.

Nope, their player is wresting Maguire from the off. Maguire lifts his left arm up as a way of manoeuvring around him and avoid it being pinned against him whilst their player has two arms around his waist and not looking at the ball.

As much as it didn't matter in the end, and it felt like it was given as a consolation penalty. I hope refs are more consistent when there is more at stake on a game.

  3. Apologies if there’s already a Knight thread, feel free to merge it.

Thought he looked quality at RB yesterday. He was shoehorned wide right a lot last season and I felt for him because he struggled in a pretty unnatural position. I don’t mind him in the middle of the park but he can sometimes lack the composure and ball quality we seem to prefer in the middle.

He could be a similar story to Matty Cash at Forest. He struggled to keep down a spot in midfield over there and his tenacity, work rate and aggression just seemed to suit him at full back. He can get up and down all day, which Knight can easily do. He linked up really well with NML in the first half. One-twos, overlaps and a few decent balls in.

If he does stay I would be happy to see him play there a lot more, whether he will be though, may be a different matter.

  4. Probably for next season... We could pinch the new Liverpool song.

I’m so glad, that Rooney is a Ram,
I’m so glad, and so I told me mam

Rooney said to me you know,
We’re gonna win the league you know,
    He said so,
I’m in love with him and I feel fine…

  5. Liked the new Liverpool one last night. So we can be the first team to steal it...

Only been there twice before - mainly because it was nearly always a midweek fixture

1985-1986 - Andy Garner winner for us on our way to promotion from the old 3rd division. Loads of trouble to and from the station and loads of DLF walked around the pitch by the police out of their end & into ours

2012-13 - last away game of the season, we lost & remember watching an on loan Chris Martin going through the motions & me thinking he'll be our permanent signing in the summer even though he looks bang average - got that one wrong !!

Nigel Clough playing Chris Martin on the right wing...those were the days

  7. All I ask for tonight is tempo. I know we're not exactly a "Bielsa's Leeds" at home, but we do tend to break with more purpose and play at speed when we're at home.

Away though, we seem to play so lethargically. I think that comes from the manager tbh. When we have a chance to counter our players seem very reluctant to get forward in numbers.

With time running out, I hope it changes tonight!

  8. Infuriating last night. One of, if not THE fastest player in the league. A couple of times had the chance to break on the them and he seemed to just jog with it, and then got caught!

A few times just jogging back when Cardiff we're going down the left, only then to sprint when he realises he should be back. (That may have been where Cashin chested it in the 6 yard box?)

For a player with no a great amount of skill or finesse on the ball, why does he insist on cutting inside and running into traffic. Has a much better chance when he goes round the outside.

Needs to really improve other areas of his game otherwise he's gonna get found out as a 1 trick pony.

I'd like to sue referee Madley for giving Chris Martin a second yellow for diving when he didn't against Burnley in 2013.

Outcome according to the Trusty Gibson-o-meter:

    We win that game.

Burnley crumble in the run in and we overhaul the small points gap to finish 2nd.

In the absence of games against Burnley in the Premier League in 14/15, Leicester gain 4 points less, losing to us 8-0 home and away. Requiring a win on the last day to stay up, they lose 5-1 at home to QPR with Bobby Zamora scoring all 5 and are relegated.

Jamie Vardy, N'Golo Kante and Riyahd Mahrez join Derby in 2015/16, firing them to an unprecedented 5000-1 League Title.

£8 billion or so should do it.

Didn't Hendrick actually score in that sequence of play when Martin was sent off, that would've put us 1-0 up?!

  10. All in jest of course for anyone who fancies a bit of lighthearted fun!

Suggestions for who we can sue for previous loss of earnings, a referee decision, a postponement, a player being injured by opposition? The more scrupulous the better!

I'll start with Gary O'Neil. His blatant CHEATING last ditch tackle on Johnny Russell in that PO final stopped him scoring to put us 1-0 up. And by my Steve Gibson calculator we'd have gone on to score another 4.

For anyone who wants a laugh. Not quite sure what their gripe is!

Maybe next time a team kicks a ball out for your player down injured (we we're in a decent attacking position too) don't boot the ball out for a throw the other end of the pitch and not even let us take the throw without pressure!

I'm glad that came back to bite them in the arse!

I (rightly) got pulled up for this on here, a couple of years ago(?) when it happened.

Without any checking at all, it's something like the (offside) offence is obviously in the attacking half, but the offence isn't called up until the attacker effectively comes into play (ie plays for, or actually touches the ball).  That's the point when the flag goes up, and that's the position the free kick is taken from.  Not from where the off-side position was.

I was (rightly) made to look foolish last time.  Yesterday, at the ground, I made myself look rather knowledgeable.  I like this rule!  ?

    EDIT:
Might have been last season?  No idea!  ?‍♂️

Did the same thing a few years ago at Birmingham away...felt rather smug yesterday haha!

Anger, most certainly in this context, is a backward looking, negative emotion. There is nothing we can do about what has happened, it's done, look forward.

Anyway, change is good, freshens things up, a complete reset is required whether we like it or not. This gives the opportunity, backwards to go forwards and all that jazz.....

In all the years watching Derby, I've never seen them as a club that would be capable of going backwards to go forwards. It'll be more like go back to go sideways. Either way hope I'm wrong!

And many can see the real possibility still of our club going out of existence. So compared to that yes being in league one is a fantasy for many who can also remember the great time that followed our relegation to the third tier last time.

Something something live in the past...

The difference between the second and third tier 40 years ago isn't the same.

  15. The Derby County fantasy of playing in League 1 just so you can get to go to "proper football grounds" is very strange. Honestly blows my mind that anyone could think of anything positive to playing League 1 football.

Why aren't we angry that this has happened to our club?

We've slated past players for being "spineless". Our fans seem just the same, we've just rolled over and let the people who have done this walk out the front door with a goody bag.

  16. I saw the pics and videos of fans outside the globe looking like they're just gonna be exactly how they were.

So me and a couple of mates decided to get a taxi to the common room sports bar. Watched the football and the golf in peace. Enjoyed it much more.

I love this club, but our fans sometimes are such a bunch of annoying little so and so's. Seems to be the usual 16-20 year old's in the usual "clobber"
