I personally like the notion of increasing to our foreign scouting network. Our scouting network has been pretty poor even when we had money at the start of Mel's reign the majority went on overhyped, over paid Championship players.
Let's not forgot the wealth of foreign talent in the squad in the late 90s to name a few Stimac, Poom, Baiano Carbonari, Wanchope, Asanović and Eranio and it was this era that brought us our most recent successes and for people younger than 40 (like me) our only successful period.

Lots of big talk from Erik. Seems a good bloke to be fair. Hopefully his intrests are fully within the club because we’re a very attractive prospect. A cheap club with superb facilities with a good stadium and class fans. Just sort the first team out and jobs a goodun. Also interesting he wants to improve the scouting. Been our week point for years

How do you not see the ridiculous nature of this statement? The man who is has 'fired' him is claiming he fired him for making false promises... Of course he would say that! ?
He claims it's not him and is taking legal action
One of our posters on here (I think @richinspain) has checked his public twitter profile which only follows the leader of VOX - Plenty of people follow Nigel Farage or Donald Trump but don't support them - Plenty of people follow Piers Morgan but think he's a total Bamford
What evidence do you have of his political leanings? I've only ever seen one dudes twitter account mentioned
Sky are reporting his lawyer is Ramon Calderon - Former Real Madrid President - That's some decent advice...

2/2 I’ve learned Alonso offer to buy #dcfc pre dates Sheikh Khaled - he shifted attention to #swfc when Derby deal looked dead. But key target now is promotion to Premier League, with improved foreign scouting network and more intl players central to plan.

What I'm struggling to get my head around is why on earth would you buy a second division club as an *investment* ?
There is Zero chance of making any sort of profit from Derby County. Will it just be a vanity project for Erik ? A few photos where he stands fist to fist with Rooney?
As an investor I would rather invest in a burger van and park it outside Pride Park on match day, that's where a profit is to be made.

I really dont understand all the negativity at all . This to me seems like a dream deal and I for one am pretty excited about it . It seems like some Derby fans are unable to let go if being wellllllll down right bloody miserable and think of the likes of Norwich and Bournemouth and brentford as big clubs . This could well be the chance of bringing in someone young full of cockiness and bouncing us up to the premier where we do actually belong . I remember another young cocky bloke his name was Brian clough .

Its more likely that Jordan`s source is Mel Morris

I am not sure about this Alonso chap.
Rooney is still in situ, and the club haven’t even started selling DCFC branded bottles of tinto de verano.
I’ve not even got one of those computer generated e-mails wishing me a happy birthday either.
I have to say, the signs don’t look good! League 1 and financial collapse beckons.

Simon Jordon said on talksport that he's spoke to a very very very very reliable source who has said that Alonso is the "real deal" and a man of significant means.

Thought the interview was fine said nothing new chose his words carefully. I took the impression there is far more behind him than he is letting on also quite good he played down the relationship with the more famous footballing Alonso's

I suppose he can’t say too much and the interview was at very short notice, I’d prefer to be cautiously positive and say kudos to him for speaking out when he could easily of refused.

In brief -
Judge him by his work not his words
Will have help from someone who has worked at Real Madrid and is a big name in football
Firstly we need to stay in the league but manager and players have his full support
Message to all Derby fans, appreciate all words from fans and good times will return
Wants to be confirmed as soon as possible

Only words yes but sounds promising in 1 days he’s been more vocal than the fake Sheikh let’s just hope there’s no dramas with this let’s just hope if it’s going to happen it actually happens and before the summer because that is massive

Looks like he’s done an interview with a Spanish newspaper regarding the takeover.
Says the deal could be even be closed as early as tomorrow:

Interesting that he lists recruitment as something to look at. It is poor and overpriced recruitment by previous managers that are largely responsible for the recent financial position.

We've tried a minted local owner with a lifelong connection to the club, and it's not exactly worked out.
It's hard to see how a foreign owner, with no previous connection, and of unknown wealth can do much worse.
Bookmark this, for when we start anew in the Midlands Alliance!

The couple of times I've heard him interviewed he's come across as an arrogant whotsit who loves the sound of his own voice. Not doubting his contacts and journalistic skills - just a bit too far up himself for my liking.....

Summary of Athletic article:
Pride Park included in sale.
Alonso family form part of consortium along with several others.
Dad was on Real Madrid board.
Family have experience of football business/ marketing
Morris likely not to be involved moving forward.
Formality it seems of passing EFL test.
Not part of VOX.
Role at Sheffield Wed involved engagement/transparency with fans.
Another good article by Ryan Conway, sounds promising.

More from The Athletic.
It is believed Alonso has sufficient funds in place for the transaction and no debt or borrowing of money would be required for the deal — a welcome relief to Derby fans who have spent the past two seasons weighed down by financial issues. Pride Park Stadium is also part of the deal.

Hopefully the first thing they do is hire a decent scouting and recruitment team!

The Athletic is this morning reporting that Erik has nothing to do with Vox and is stopping them for using his name.
