We march on PP and demand Rosenior is reinstated. Can't believe our owner would have the sense to appoint an interim manager whilst he assessed the whole club, then decide a new approach would be best. Everyone is envious of our relentless pursuit to do the same thing over and over again in our excellent 3 in 30+ away wins.
I will trust our owner and not immediately herald him the new Mel because he does something bold.

There’s stability and there’s stability in League 1.
That’s clearly not what we are looking for.

    From Mr Giddypant RUFC Forum
I was going to post this on the Derby forum, but couldn't be arsed.

I have been supporting Rotherham since 1958. I'm devastated if this is fact, and increasingly it's looking likely. Few of you have done your homework. You share the (previously correct) impression that we are a long-ball team with limited ability to play 'proper' football.

Many of you have voiced doubts that Warney could make best use of your 'talented' team. Fear not. Warney has proved himself adept at utilising the talents of his players. His ambitions have been limited by the resources available to him, not by an ideological devotion to a 'hit and hope' philosophy.

This year we have recruited players who add to the pool of talent we had last year. Except for Warney's first year in the job we have seen a progressive development in terms of player recruitment and positive achievements on, and off, the field.

As a man manager I doubt there are few better at this level. He has personalty and wit. I love the man and what he has done for my club.

    Think yourselves lucky.

Feel free to copy and paste.

PS, with any luck he'll be sacked within the year and come back 'home'.
Thats sounds to me the sort of thing I'd love to hear from the Rotherham fans....

Been going with my dad to the matches for 30 years and don't ever recall him calling for the managers head.
Last Tuesday after the Lincoln match he said he thought Rosenior was out of his depth and, may be a good coach, just not a good manager.
Just for clarity, I am not David Clowes son either.

Rosenior was interim for a reason. He was a short term option for Clowes because it was the obvious thing to do at that time. He has now brought his own man in and we must get behind him.

All the complaints saying DC is another mad Mel is ridiculous.
He made LR interim manager as he was clearly not sure if he was the right man, much better decision than the 3-5 year contracts MM was handing out to sack a manager a short time into contracts.  It was a astute business decision if you ask me, Warne appears to know his way out of this Division so a 1 or 2 Year contract could be a wise move if its him to be appointed.
I'd suggest we should all calm the fook down and see who is appointed and how they perform, if this goes belly up DC has invested £53M, therefore he's the one with the most to lose.
Regarding the Ashley rumours, I've heard he is only interested in buying us once we are back in the Championship.
In DC I trust, our away form simply was not good enough and LR did not seem to have the answers, we also need to hit the Onion bag a bit more often at home too.  If LR stays that's great as he is without doubt a great coach, if he goes, I wish him all the best, but, I think he needs to cut his teeth with a smaller club.

    This is the key point.
No one is demanding 9 wins from 9.
People feel we should be doing better and clearly so does the owner.

Don’t see why this is so surprising. LR is interim. Has he done enough to be permanent? Possibly but then again, style of play has been questioned and the away performances have been dreadful. If he’s staying on the coaching staff then great.

I'm not disappointed that Rosenior is leaving and I don't know enough about Warne to have an opinion of him.
But I'm deeply sad and worried that Barry the Ram called this one right. Football's gone mad. Mad, I'm telling you!

Surprised when I saw this earlier.
David has probably weighed it up and doesn't feel Liam is capable of taking us up without play off drama at the very least. Can't say as I disagree - I like Liam, he speaks well, but there has been a disconnect this season - we should be settling and finding form but it's gone backwards - too many games lately we have played for 45 minutes at best and not been at the races the other half. Our defending (despite a just about acceptable record overall) and scoring has been woeful due to the tactics/system used and that stops with him as he has said himself.
Played 9, won 4, drawn 2, lost 3 is a right mixed bag of results, and despite being a championship team on paper we don't seem to be showing that in this division at present. You could definitely see someone with a bit more knowledge coming in, shaping them and getting a more convincing defensive line up, more effective supply chain, and Collins as he should be netting regularly.
I think Liam has probably just been offered his old job back for now, he is under contract for that so that's why we're not saying he's gone. I imagine he is weighing up his options as he seems pretty consciencious. Rare that anyone ever makes that back step though (Wassall obviously excepted) so I can't see him swallowing his pride and staying.
Might get a job opening soon, but more likely I can see him joining a backroom team such as Brighton again. Hudderfield and Cardiff seem a bit of a stretch given his experience.
As for Warne it's never boring is it. They've been a different division every year since he joined in 2016. Does seem to know how to get promoted, and might like the opportunity to work with a bit more if he thinks he can get us up, rather than losing his best players on Bosmans each year, he could build on them.
He does seem to know how to pick up strikers and bargains which he has going for him. His squad seems like a decent age and is overachieving for saying I've only heard of a handful of players. Not much of a record with youngsters but maybe that's Rotherham's academy not producing.
From his own mouth his defenders don't take risks, he doesn't play out from goal kicks, they just try to put crosses in and get the ball to a target man up front. They are physical and look to captalise on set pieces as often as possible. Maybe that's what we need. I do think the current personnel fits that ethos.

I don’t understand the outrage here.
Clowes gave Rosenior an interim position, so he was auditioning for the permanent role, not guaranteed the role. Clowes is well within his rights to go in a different direction, especially when Rosenior hasn’t been overwhelmingly impressive.
This says loud, clear and unequivocally that standards and expectations are high and promotion and bouncing back straight away is the target.
This would line up with the calibre of player we brought to the club and this would also line up with the conversations being had internally.
With that in mind, can Clowes be blamed? We’ve dropped 13 points in nine games. We’ve lost a third of our league games. We have thrown away a win v Plymouth, contrived to lose v Lincoln and Charlton, and not made anything count v Fleetwood and Shrewsbury. We’re seven points from the top two places and five points from 3rd. It doesn’t set the right tone and suggests a rethink is needed.
As such, it’s no surprise Clowes wants someone who knows the league, someone who understands the mechanics of the league and how to win games consistently, and someone who has consistent experience of doing well in this league.
Warne could be a very shrewd appointment in that sense and especially if it’s on a one or two year deal. Three promotions from League 1? It’s difficult to argue with his track record, especially as Rotherham are not necessarily a big fish in this league, just benefactors of yo-yoing between the Championship and League 1.
Of course people will turn their nose up at his perceived style. But here he will have better resources and a better calibre of player than he has ever had at Rotherham. So in theory it could be a good blend, knowing when to play our football and knowing when and being coached how to take a different approach.
We certainly have players that could thrive under a different style. It’s not as if we are the Arsenal of League 1. It’s not a squad of purely technical footballers, is it?
It’s worth a shot. Enjoy the ride.

LR was only interim manager. It’s not like we gave him the job full-time in the summer and are sacking him now.
    This isn’t a sacking.
It’s hiring a full-time manager to replace the interim manager.
I thought LR would get the job permanently. But there are several potential reasons why he hasn’t.
    Warne has promotion pedigree.
And anybody who has seen us this season knows we aren’t exactly a brilliant footballing team. Bird has been poor. Prior to his late goals against Wycombe, Hourihane has been disappointing too.
We haven’t scored a goal away from home.
I don’t think it’s a case of Warneball being random hoofs, but perhaps we are more suited to going direct and having players like McGoldrick, Knight and Sibley picking up second balls in the final third.
Comparisons to Pearson seem strange. We had a far better footballing side back then. I don’t see that with us now.
Honestly, how many chances have we created this season by passing through the opposition via possession and moving them out of position. Barely any.

He has seen what we have seen - away from home no goals this season ( let’s not mention the last two seasons) at home all wins mostly for sure but in most games we have been rather fortunate that the opposition missed big chances but the most worrying thing was handing big chances to the opposition and being swamped in nearly every second half at home in the midfield.

Bear in mind that Liam Rosenior was always going to be "on the coaching staff". That's what his contract says. For now, he is not interim manager.
A further discussion will follow on whether he stays. If Paul Warne has no use for him, he will get paid off. If we want to keep him, then we will. If we want to keep him but he doesn't want to stay, he will have to resign
He was on secondment as interim manager. Now he is back in his old job...for now...

Really don't understand the meltdown going on here. From the tone you'd think we'd just sacked Brian Clough rather than choosing not to make permanent an interim manager who has done an OK job.

    Right here goes
During the summer I heard Derby went after two managers once Rooney was off - Warne and Robinson ((Oxford) but couldn’t get them at that point in time.
I have heard that Derby offered Liam the full time job about three weeks ago and he has chosen not to sign the contract offered which was his current salary - and his current salary is very good for a league one club and he wanted more money.
I suspect we wouldn’t sack him due to the size of his wage and we would wait for him to move on of his own volition.
let’s remember our owner did not want to buy a football club he saved us and and I am sure he wants to be back in the championship and sold to get his money back very quickly.
personally I don’t think Warne fits in with the players we currently have based on his previous styles of play of his teams but who knows he might be perfect if he comes here and the players are good enough to adapt sufficiently.
never a dull moment with our Derby county

The clue as to what might happen was always in the title "INTERIM..." so there was always a plan to REVIEW and the Board have decided to appoint an alternative. Looks and sounds like logical and calculated stewardship to me not "...David Clowes playing Football Manager."
