I don't think we need to worry about this for now though its fun to speculate I suppose. We need to put one foot in front of the other and see where it takes us. My personal hope is that Mr Clowes enjoys his project and at some point gets his money back and then some. That will happen naturally I think when we get to the position of challenging for promotion to the Prem. I say 'when' because we are one of the biggest clubs outside of the Prem and its the natural order of things. Its just a question of how long, it could be 2 years it could be 10. In terms of Mr Clowes planning, I think that will evolve as we evolve. We just don't know if he would want to carry on owning the club if somebody made him a really good offer, but my guess is he would sell provided he felt it was also in the clubs interest

True, and the same can be said of every player who misses a good chance. NML has blasted some, JJ scuffed one the other night. So what ! What I can’t understand is when Collins misses one he’s the one that gets a level of grief that others simply don’t get.
Hey, I don’t think Collo is a genius, he’s missed some sitters, he’s an aging league one striker. That’s par for the course. He’s also a real grafter and tough guy who gives his all. When he next misses one, all I am thinking is s*i* … go on Collo keep at it. Why do some people have to have a whipping boy ? I just don’t get it.

the only time I get seriously  grumpy with an individual player is when the effort and commitment isn’t there. I suppose it is different for everyone, part of the “match experience” but I see no benefit, joy, or relief from adding to the pressure on a player who’s effed up …. and knows it himself.

Even world class players miss easy chances, remember Collins is a lg1 player and if he was more reliable, he wouldn't be playing at this level. Having said that, he contributes all over the pitch and always puts a shift in, unlike Bielik on Friday night.

Warne is a bit of 'one off' as football managers go, those around him day after day will understand this and accept his attempts of humour for what they are. I have a friend who is of a similar ilk, who could easily offend/annoy strangers, but doesn't offend/annoy his friends, who understand his humour.
I would much rather listen to Warne than, a Mowbray or Nigel, or even a vast majority of managers who just spout standard manager speak.
If you can ignore his humour, he reveals a lot more of what feels about the team's performance than other managers without the personal criticism we've seen elsewhere, often criticising the team as whole for resorting to so called 'Warneball'.

Show me where I keep going on about your opinion. In fact show me the last time we had any interaction, it will have been months because I have avoided having any discussions on the forum for quite a while because all I seem to get in return is snotty replies.
I have posted twice on this whole thread (prior to this one) once with what Warne fully said about Sibley's goal, as to me it seemed as though you hadn't watched the interview and had only read part of it which did seem like Warne was calling Sibley, and the other was in response to that post, where you are having a dig at Warne for having a joke, that clearly he has already had with Sibley prior to the interview. In my opinion, Warne wouldn't have made the joke if Sibley did not take it the way it was meant to, you know, as a joke.

Off the pitch, an assault like that would warrant police action. I think that it deserves a ban of longer than 3 games, as Collins is lucky that he escaped a serious facial injury. He was cms from a broken jaw, cheekbone, nose or teeth.

    Warne responded to the Ramstv interviewer’s statement of “Louie Sibley opened the scoring, cracking strike” by saying;
“yeah I’m glad he scored because if he didn’t score he’d have been in deep cause he could have put Birdy in. Really pleased with Sibs, you know he had different roles if it was a 3 at the back or a 4 at the back what position he was, he was a 10 or an 8, same with the wide players they had different roles today because sometimes they attacked with a 3 the midfielder slots inside the pitch so there was a lot of information. I thought the lads dealt with that pretty well and I thought Sibs was a handful, so I was pleased for Sibs and erm yeah he was one of many of the good performers”.
Seems fairly specific praise about Sibley doing well and coping with the changing formation to me, not sure what needs to be guessed at?

I agree that Sibley can’t be criticised for taking the shot on mainly because he scored of course but also because he didn’t have the benefit of slo mo and freeze frame. However, I disagree with your opinion of Bird’s position or the likelihood of scoring. IF Sibley had got the pass right (just in front of Bird for him to run on to) and played it early enough then Bird would have been through with just the keeper to beat. The defender was too far out and would not have closed the gap if the pass had been played early enough. Also, if Bird had “bombed forward” then he would either have been offside or it would have been difficult for Sibley to play it in front of him, and get it around their number 5, without it being too close to the keeper.
All if’s but’s and maybe’s. The important thing is the outcome was a good one.

Bored shitless of reading criticisms of Collins. Bloke puts absolutely everything into every game and he’s top goalscorer for the 5th best side in the division over the last 19 games so he obviously knows where the net is.

Because he doesn’t have the technical ability of McG or Martin his efforts seem somewhat less impressive.

Im telling you now McG missed plenty of chances last season - some a lot easier than those Collins missed yesterday. This isn’t a criticism of McG either - just an acknowledgment that our best player last year was also only human and plying his trade in league 1 for a reason. Same as Collins.

Anyone not sure whether it was a red card or not should watch the Derby Debrief on Rams TV, they show an angle from higher in the gantry that shows it was a clear elbow swung into Collins face, it was pretty disgraceful from their player really, reminiscent of Wimbledon's Crazy Gang with Vinnie Jones, Fash The Bash, et al.

Having watched the extended highlights back, a few comments to stir the pot.
Those saying Sibley could/should have laid in Max Bird instead of shooting (and Paul Warne said so in his post match interview), I disagree. When Sibley gets the ball, Bird slows down and doesn’t bomb forward- or turn his head/scan to see their left back moving over fast to cover. A sign to me that Bird isn’t a natural 10. If Sibley releases to Bird there, a goal is very unlikely so I think it’s the right decision. Can’t we just give Sibley credit for a well taken goal?
It’s a red card. 3:55 of the RamsTV highlights. You only get a 4 second snippet of the act, so eyes peeled, but the defender does sneak an elbow and (unbelievably) catches Collins flush, despite not being able to see exactly where JC was behind him.
Those questioning the triple change: personnel wise it seemed like for like rather than defensively minded, with Nelson at full back to replace Ward. At 2-0 they have to press forward, so I am guessing the tactic was to soak that up and counter, with fresh pace of TJJ and Barkz, and NML too. It worked! Almost worked twice (how funny was it to see Bradley among the charge in that final chance?! He looked like he just joined in a run with the lads, no idea where he was going 😂 ). Sometimes inviting pressure late in games backfires, and it can make the fans nervous, but with a two goal cushion you can afford one slip up and it creates chances to kill the game on the break.
James Collins was inches away from two goals today, but fine margins make all the difference- both to the result, and people’s perception of him on this forum. I saw a post from Derby Retweets that said, across English domestic competition, only three players have scored more goals than James Collins since he started his career in 2009/10. Thats Harry Kane (251), Jordan Rhodes (226) and Sergio Aguero (217) all better than JC’s 202. Billy Sharp with 190 and Charlie Austin with 188, for reference. Not bad company… and proof that he DOES score goals. As well as work hard, gets in good positions (mostly) and- crucially- he stays fit. With Wash, Wags And TJJ all either recently or currently injured, I think people simply don’t give JC enough credit. I’m not saying he’s a world beater, and he does miss chances- but he brings a lot to this team in League One.
As soon as the third went in, Warne should have pulled NML for Brown. That’s a very small criticism for Warne after a great run of results, some sound team selections in the face of injury troubles, some slightly better subs, and better tactical play. This is where our squad depth is starting to show and will hopefully separate us from the pack as injuries and suspensions thicken over the busy Christmas period.
I didn’t know B4 personally, but after 5 league wins on the spin I can’t help but think about what he’d be posting on here today. We should enjoy this while it’s good. And hope it stays good.
