I sat in the car listening to radio Derby before the game last night . Darren Robinson gave a very good insight into how the spending works at DCFC . There are a lot of people involved and heads could roll if it doesn’t work out .

Could any of these people play number 9? We have a lot of people sat around doing seemingly sod all, may as well chuck a shirt on them and make use.

  2. It feels like the Billy Davies promoted to the Prem vibes, although we know Billy Davies chose not to sign players.

We are so not ready for the current division it is laughable.

Last night was better, against league 2 opposition, but it very nearly wasn't.

Wasn't Collins offered a new contract? He certainly took his time signing it, so it's not as if it was of his making. Why would we be looking to move him on?

Probably for the same reason he didn't start on Saturday, Paul Warne.

He was our top goal scorer last year, we struggled for goals in pre season, Yates was suspended, Washington is broken and Dajaune Brown isn't ready (according to Warne) and Collins was still on the bench with Kayden Jackson, a player notoriously poor at number 9, playing at number 9.

When Warne when talking about wanting 12 in, he also suggested that some would be going out. If we're struggling to shift faces out in the other direction, that'll surely have an effect on the numbers/values of those we want to bring in.

I think that is the hold up.

I imagine Collins and Barkhuizen are free to leave, especially given Collins didn't even start on Saturday and Barkhuizen being a bit part last season and Cashin is probably the domino that starts it all off for us.

I don't think the hold up is the parent clubs unwilling to let a player leave, I don't think we can afford the loan fees.

It is but I’d be very surprised if we don’t get 3/4 more players + JWZ before the end of the window.

I would be very surprised if we signed more than 3, including the keeper.

No doubt we will then be reminded that there is a free agent market to utilise.

I reckon there are a number of players with loads of offers and are waiting to see where things start fitting in to place closer to the end of the window before they decide. Frustrating but we aren't big players in this league financially anymore.

Which is why we needed to be clever in this market and not stick our fishing rod in the same pond as everyone else.

We have scouted across Europe, apparently, but yet seem to be in with a group of clubs in a better position than us, including Oxford it seems, hoping to get the same loan players as everyone else from Prem clubs.

The approach to this window is making very little sense, what would have happened had Kellyman, Delap, Bogle not been sold? What would we have done then? Just relied on loans at the end of the window?

I expect there’ll be changes for this game but it would be nice if we put out a first choice XI. No way players need resting already and gives the new signings another game to gel

I was just thinking about this.

Personally I wouldn't put out a full 11. I'd like to see Robinson and Brown start. We are playing a decent league 2 side and I think it would be an ideal opportunity to have a look at plan B's in both of them.

They honestly could be like good quality free signings. They just need a chance.

Didn't Warne say the main deals were going to be done at the end of the window? I'm sure I heard an interview he did saying this & that they would be our main targets? If that's the case I'd imagine loans & permanent when a selling club has brought someone in first.

     Or did I dream that?

    You didn't dream it.

But it did sound like a bit of a fantasy to me when I heard it.

Imagine waiting until the end of the window to get your main targets, risking them having a change of heart or someone else coming in with a better offer.  We could be bottom 3 by the end of the window, that isn't going to help our chances of getting a decent loan from a prem team.

Where would that leave us, at the very end of the window? Facing certain relegation I would say.

I think Paul was trying to buy himself/club a bit of time there, but was being economical with the truth...just my opinion

No announcement regarding Jacob Rinne, the 31 year old who left his Saudi team a week ago, supposedly returning to his native Sweden to take over from Zetterström. Looks quite useful with his feet:

Maybe we should sign him on a free and add the Zetterström dosh to our striker budget 😂😂

It does seem insane to be spending decent money on a goal keeper to then have to resort to waiting for the last minute of a transfer window to see which scraps Premier League clubs are willing to trust Paul with.

  10. I do wonder if the club are waiting in hope for a big money offer for Cashin.

It will be 4 weeks on Friday since we last signed a player, you can throw every excuse out under the sun, but for a club needing 6 more players, that's pretty poor going.

Little old Oxford don't seem to be having to wait until the last 2 days of the window (as Warne keeps hinting at) to make signings.

You just seem to be taking every opportunity on all threads to have a dig at the club without knowing what restrictions and other issues the club are facing financially.

And you seem to take every opportunity to reply to said people and tell them why they are wrong without ever actually contributing anything of value to the thread.

I'd say you are just as bad, but you are actually worse, at least they are making a point, no matter how much you disagree, their opinion is valued.

I am sure I have read that Clowes is looking for investors. Not sure if there have been any developments but with the inflated fees and wages being demanded by agents and players any addition to our war chest would be appreciated. Any ITKers heard owt?

Personally I think Clowes missed a trick not selling the club, or getting external investment, now. If we truly are debt free and free from the shackles of the EFL, there has never been a better time to buy us.

As each failed season passes, the debts will build and the less attractive we become.
