I don’t think we have to be ruthless. We have to be sensible and strike a balance.

At the end of the day, Warne’s success has been achieved through good man management and building a good club culture.

If we decide to be ‘ruthless’ we’ll be left with almost no-one and having to rebuild the team from scratch as well as the good atmosphere in the dressing room and good team spirit and understanding amongst the players.

That shouldn’t be underestimated. Warne won’t want a team of strangers lining up together on the opening day.

I agree with keeping a tight unit and retaining the clear comradery that Warne has created but we need new faces and although Warne likes a certain type of personality in a player which is commendable we still need players and can’t keep this squad together because we need change

The main characters in the dressing room will be important going forward as they should help new players to settle and become part of the family

These changes are necessary so hopefully we’ve done our homework and know who we want and get things done early ….this of course is easier said than done with greedy agents wanting to wait until the end of the window

I  imagine that Warne will still not buy just for the sake of it so let’s trust Warne to get the right players and keep the harmonious dressing room but change is necessary

  2. Keep

Cashin, Nelson , Nyambe, Thommo, Ward, Gayle , Collins ( back up )Smith Rooney NML

rest can go we need a new GK, CB, at least 3 CM’s 1 of which hopefully is Adams pacey striker and a hold up striker if we get both Collins can also leave and  2 wide players if we get both wide players CBT can go

ruthless yes but we must be ….it would be a disaster if we didn’t survive back in championship and I’d be looking for mid table at least

there are players out there just have to find them like other clubs do
I firmly believe if we look at championship players who aren’t getting the game time but are decent enough to be starters for us I’d concentrate on them players like

    Godden Cov

    Taylor Ipswich

    Adams Cardiff

    Chaplin Ipswich

    Edmundson Ipswich

    Lavelle Carlisle

    Brannigan Oxford  -

    Diamond Sunderland  loan

    Azeez Reading

The largest fee would be for Brannigan and maybe Edmundson but i genuinely think these players are achievable and gives our squad a better look for the championship

after listening to podcast it’s apparently very important we get the right amount of players in and don’t bust the bank with average wages in championship 31m compared to 17m in L1

Very tough job but our recruitment will now need to earn there money but exciting times ahead

we need players in the door asap and waiting until end of the window will not help …although except loans from prem would only be late in the window after prem clubs have sorted there squads

looking forward to a busy summer and hopefully we’ll also be looking at affordable players in the euros this summer 👍🏻

As on the other thread just checked. Bishop is a Pompey player and their leading scorer. Was released from our academy and also a Red dog. Doubt Pompey would sell him to us and not sure he would sign for us after some of the public statements he has made about how he loves to score against us.
stranger things have happened though I suppose.

apologies i meant Connor Chaplin from ipswich not Bishop

  4. Was going to put on another thread that I think we could get George

He's not been selected quite a lot and don't think he's going to play much in the prem with ipswich

If we want to start getting a decent championship team/squad together maybe a cheeky bid for   Edmundson , Jack Taylor and Colby Bishop from tractor boys wouldn't hurt

Looking at some players who are not getting the game time they want that also means looking at players like Matt Godden from Coventry championship and  there are a lot of fringe players that could do well for us as well as Gayle and Brannigan from Oxford would be nice and Azeez from Reading and a  real playmaker would also be nice as well as Ebou

Yeah I hope he cracks on next season, but he didn’t have the impact we wanted at all after signing. Showed glimpses but looked pretty raw.

I think the key is going to be him buying into pressing and tracking back, looked miles off in this respect.

agree he really did but just that game against Pompey shows he might turn it around lets hope so

  7. We'd be making a mistake IMO if we offer a new contract and would  therefore be   more expensive for Clowes if it doesn't work out in a higher league, so let it run and see what happens would be prudent , makes no sense at all to offer anything and so far PW has only done what was probably expected of him

Next season will be tough but recruitment will be key

  8. watching the QPR game last night magnified the job we have to be able to compete in the Championship

QPR did play well on the night and of our current squad i believe only 2 would get in there starting 11 Cash and Adams and possibly Nelson and QPR are bottom 6 side

Massive job to get the right players and although PW has done a good job getting us promoted the nest step is still a big worry IMO

Warne is a L1 specialist and brought in to get us out of L1 , he isn't though a championship specialist so will be a real challenge

I will get right behind the team as always but I still think we have a lot to improve on and that's not going to be easy

Billy Davies was no more than a Championship manager really and that showed in the prem, I hope Paul Warne can change our style a bit and surprise a few but time will tell but for now lets just enjoy the promotion party today as Warne said himself enjoy the good moments in football when they do arrive

have a great day today all Rams fans 👏

  9. It wasn't long ago that the FA was bleating on about how to re-invigorate the FA Cup to make it special again and be more traditional

This latest decision along with the fact the semi finals are played at Wembley make the competition as far away from the FA Cup i remember as a kid as its ever been......one of my fondest memories was the epic Sheff Weds v Arsenal marathon where it went to several replays it was a brilliant competition

Now the FA Cup is a mere shadow of what it used to be led by idiots making decisions without even consulting the EFL members !!!

The pitch is or appears quite narrow and not sure we will have much space to go wide , might even suit a back 4 and an extra body in CM to ensure we are solid through the middle

I take this back, according to stats Cambridge have a bigger pitch than us ?? so yes a back 3 with wide players making wing backs I'm guessing will be what we'll play , probably unchanged

Back 3 worked, Sibley and Wilson give us an outlet
