  1. Yes but Mendez-Laing is no Hinton and Cashin is no McFarland or Todd (I was going to say Nyambe is no Nish but Nish played on the left didn’t he?). So it’s all doom and gloom don’t you know. 😉
  2. Has anyone suggested he is? Can’t you just be remotely pleased that one of our more dependable players (in most people’s eyes I would suggest) has extended his contract? I’m afraid your destined for a lifetime of disappointment if you’re going to continue to set the likes of McFarland and Todd as your benchmark.
  3. No need for a poll. Curtains obviously isn’t happy that Cashin has signed an extension (to his contract 😉) but everyone else is?
  4. Yes I thought that’s what you meant but I’m not sure they’re certs for play offs given the points I made.
  5. You can only call it as you see it. Rather than some folk on here being fickle, maybe it’s his performance and goal contribution that’s changed this season. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I think he has always been a hard worker and didn’t deserve a lot of the criticism he received. Maybe this season he’s emerged from under the shadow of the phenomenon that was McGoldrick last year. Reminds me (only a little though) of what we used to sing about Gary Teale “he used to be **ite but now he’s alright……” 🙂
  6. I don't agree with your first comment about other managers not saying they were losing too many individual battles or didn't get the basics right. Generally speaking, IMO, nearly all managers real out the same reasons why games were lost: "we didn't move the ball fast enough", "we didn't win enough second balls", "we made a few sloppy mistakes", "we didn't create enough chances", "we didn't get the basics right", "we didn't win enough individual battles" etc. We'll have to agree to disagree but I don't think PW criticises the teams performance or fails to take responsibility noticeable more than other managers.
  7. Not saying you're wrong but what makes you think Barnsley are certs? The still have to play Bolton home and away, go to Portsmouth and play the mighty Rams (😄) at their place. Their record (in terms of results) over the last 5 games is exactly the same as ours and, of course, they lost at home to bottom half of the table Exeter last week. For what it's worth, I think they will be there in the play offs along with ourselves.
  8. I thought the same about Jaz saying that but I guess he just didn’t think of it at the time rather being particularly thick. I’m not sure Mollie was thick either. I guess, in the heat of the moment, the thought didn’t occur to her either at the time. I surprised myself and quite enjoyed Traitor although I did tend to only half pay attention the first half of each show.
  9. It’s only represents the views of those that have registered for the surveys and then have replied to this specific survey. So, not necessary a fair representation of the general public. As I said though, I reckon (based on zero research - just my gut feeling) 74% is probably lower than the true feelings of the whole population. I reckon most of the UK population don’t see the removal of the state of Israel as a remotely realistic option so that surely just leaves either an independent Palestinian state or the continuation Israeli occupation of the region. I think most people don’t see the latter as an option that will bring anything close to lasting peace in the area. Just my personal thoughts.
  10. I have tried to find the survey to see how many people had voted but couldn’t find it. My suspicion is that such surveys are not necessary representative as the silent majority probably far outweigh the minority that have an opinion they can be bothered to, or want to, share. Having said that, I’m surprised those in favour is as low as 74% given not many of us really know anything like the full facts and are even less likely to be able to think of an alternative (let alone better) solution.
  11. Not everyone that gambles in an addict plus, if you’re saying Warne is a gambler because he has signed players that may or may not prove to be a success then surely every football manager is a gambler. Given it’s impossible to sign certainties what would you rather he did, not sign any one?
  12. The age old question then, how much are his “failed bets” bing paid? And he’s not gambling like an addict at Ladbrokes. That what we did under Mel when more and more silly money was spent on an ever growing squad.
  13. How often have you heard any manager say they got it tactically wrong? Rarely I’d suggest.
  14. I’m not going to listen again to all of his post match interviews but I’m pretty sure, on occasions (as I say, probably not often enough) he has said “that was on me” or words to that effect. Also, in the interest of balance, have you ever heard him take credit for a win?
  15. I’m pretty sure that’s not true and, perhaps not often enough, he’s accepted he’s at fault sometimes in his post match interviews.
  16. I prefer Wildsmith but also quite like Vickers. He didn’t cack his pants, he found himself in a poor position and then misjudged the cross which isn’t the same as panicking. Also “the moment he needed to step up” kind of implies this was the first bit of goalkeeping he was called upon to do which, of course, it wasn’t.
  17. Apart from 45 minutes v Fleetwood though, Vickers hasn't played with Fozzy and Nyambe in front of him. Maybe it's as much their absence that is making the defence less solid.🤷‍♀️
  18. I wouldn't say Vickers is unreliable. I also wouldn't necessarily equate our current drop in form (as in results) to the dropping of Wildsmith. Having said that, I don't think Wildsmith was doing much wrong and so, as some others have suggested, can't help but feel something else has gone on.
  19. They're nearly all random names on this thread from my perspective. I obviously don't watch and analyse enough games not involving Derby 🙂
  20. Are you on the waiting list? It seems to have worked for quite a few of us this season although, assuming you’re in Bristol, getting the tickets could be a challenge. I got a ticket, via the waiting list, for Burton and was able to collect it from the Burton ground but I don’t know if this is common.
  21. It’s a good shout about the Lincoln v Peterborough game. According to the BBC, Posh had the same number of shots on target at Lincoln as we did. I suggested earlier that probably too many of us are largely judging Peterborough’s footballing ability based on one game when they played us off the park. I suspect there are quite a few Peterborough supporters that consider their performance against us as their best of the season and one they wish they could replicate more often. The same way I wish we could repeat what we did against Oxford away for 70 minutes of the game. The worry is that we haven’t looked very good much this season and we were very poor on Saturday for 60 minutes. I don’t know if that was down to the players ability, the players effort, the formation and tactics they are being asked to play by the manager or the managers ability to change things (probably a combination of all) but I do think we need to improve rather than just keeping up with the pace. I think we’ll make the play offs (but not top two) and it will be interesting to see how we perform in the return fixtures against Stevenage, Barnsley, Bolton and Portsmouth.
  22. whether he is a legend or not, I'm not sure I can stomach this media love in for him for the next few months.
