Maybe it amounts to the same thing but the thing that cost us was the replacement, for apparently forced substitution, failing to deal with the situation.

I thought Bradley did OK except for one occasion when he was forced into hoofing it with his much weaker right foot. I certainly don’t think he weakened us unless you’re comparing him directly with Cashin in which case, any replacement would have “weakened” us.

I’m not sure there will be much football played next Saturday.😀

Are we all assuming that Warne was telling porkies in his post match interview when he said Nyambe was feeling an injury?

I would imagine the clock would start ticking as soon as the ref restarts the game I.e. not until the player has left the field. I reckon that would be the least of the challenges. Regarding when it ends, that’s one of the points I was making when comparing it to rugby where if the clock is stopped because of an injury or a TMO review for example, the sin bin clock also stops. There is no such precise time keeping in football.

Personally, I'm not bothered. I've not got Sky and never will have it (apart from the occasional 24hr pass when Derby are on and I can't make the game). Even if I did have Sky, it would only be to watch actual events (of a variety of sports) and not to listen to either their sports "news" or what their pundits might have to say.

Indeed although I'd say the powers that be think it MIGHT work, and is therefore worth testing, rather than WILL work. I think something is warranted but I'm not personally convinced this is a good answer.

Because, IMO, 1) as already discussed a man in the sin bin might very well cause the team playing a man short to try and kill the game and slow it down until they are back up to strength. Heaven knows blatant (lawful and unlawful) time wasting is frustrating enough already without this added cause and 2) some offences may be worthy of a yellow card but ten minutes in the sin bin might be a bit harsh.

The crazy thing is, I imagine there of plenty that actually believe some/all of the above to be true.😊

It does work in rugby but I think that is mainly because it’s much harder to slow the game down for ten minutes in order to kill time until your sin bin player is back on the pitch especially if your team isn’t in possession of the ball. Football is much more fluid in terms of possession and I think it would be much easier to deploy such tactics. There is no real delay in line outs because they are taken from exactly where the officials say and you don’t have to mess around waiting for one of your players to become free to receive the ball. Also, there is no real equivalent of the goal keeper holding onto the ball and not being allowed to be challenged. In rugby, when the full backs have the ball, they don’t generally have that long and will often punt the ball down field which, more often than not, turns possession over to the other team. In football, there would be much more passing the ball backwards and forwards between the defenders. Because you can only pass backwards, this is less likely to happen in rugby. Also, in rugby, the actual game time is much more directly linked to the actual clock which is stopped under certain circumstances (e.g. an injury). The sim bin clock also stops. We all know, in football, time added on is much more arbitrary. We’d probably need a 5th official to keep time (with appropriate pauses) for sin bin times. In short, I think the differences between rugby (and other sports to play more to the clock and where it’s harder to waste time legally) and football is too big to use it as a comparison in this respect. With regard whether a yellow card is really a punishment or not, I think it is when, as you say, the player has to be a bit more cautious for the rest of the game especially defenders. I think the only time a sin bin would be an effective punishment is when there isn’t a great deal of time left and the team on the receiving end are having to chase the game.

You would think they could get it right but if that’s something to be “concerned” about then the more serious matters must be pretty rosy. 😀

Results were even better on Tuesday 😀 Seriously though, I’ve been saying it for a long time that we’re no different to most clubs supporters every time I read things like “typical of Derby fans” or reading things like the behaviour of some of our fan base away from home, any lack of atmosphere at home, getting on players backs etc. etc.

I agree with @SSD. A sin bin ruling would be a disaster as one team would try to kill the game for the 10 minute period. Also, I’m not sure how it would work. Would there be “time added on” for the sin bin period for any lengthy delays? Regarding dissent, referees could help themselves by booking more players. Wasn’t there a rule a few years ago whereby if a player showed dissent after conceding a free kick the ball was moved another 10 yards? I know they do it in rugby (where field position is more important) but I thought it happened in football for a while. Maybe I was dreaming it. An extra 10 yards isn’t always an advantage so maybe the team taking the free kick should be given the option of the original placement, 10 yards further forward, or anywhere between the 2 points. Maybe cynical fouls (alternatively known as professional fouls) should be a straight red.

Spot on. I often feel the same especially since retiring. It sometimes feels that the days just pass me by. I’m now a trustee with two charities (a local listed building and Citizens Advice), act as mentor for another organisation that helps small clubs with the business planning etc and am a school governor. It’s certainly good to keep busy but also make sure you have some “me time” for your hobbies etc.

I wonder if anyone actually votes based on who they really think is the best player? Even then, how can they form an opinion unless they watch a good number of games involving all of the nominated players? If I was a betting man I’d wager that the vast majority of people voting have a player from their club nominated and will automatically vote for their man. I’m not saying Collins doesn’t deserve it but I have no idea if he’s been a better player than the other nominations in January.

I've just taken a look at EFL signings on transfer deadline day on the BBC website (so not entirely reliable 😊). I can't see any where a fee is detailed but there about 28 "undisclosed".

Teams in the bottom third (or so) can also be really dangerous as they’re fighting for their survival in this division. I think all of the top 8 have probably unexpectedly tripped up against much lower teams and dropped points. It supports the theory that there are no easy games. We ought to beat Shrewsbury on Saturday and I expect us to but I won’t be feeling comfortable until the final whistle blows and we’ve won or we’re three or four goals up (or a couple of goals up with only minutes to play). Strangely, I think how the other top 7 teams fare against each other could be the most decisive factor for our end of season position (assuming of course our results don’t fall off a cliff or we don’t win pretty much every remaining game).

Despite all their privileges and wealth (I don’t really think they have any power) would any of us want to swap places with them? I know I wouldn’t.
