    The Wrong Missy. 6/10

Low brow romantic comedy, with a gurning (Jim Carrey style) female lead.

Very definitely not my preferred viewing but it was actually funnier than I expected with a few laugh out loud moments.

Ridiculous, paper-thin plot and characters but just about passed the 90mins without becoming tiresome.

I started to watch it on Friday night. Maybe it improved but I gave up after half an hour. An awful film in my opinion. 2/10 (for the part I watched). I found the Actual Wrong Missy character quite tiresome after about five minutes.

    I actually found it deteriorated.

The first few were ludicrous but strangely entertaining in an over the top 'look how crazy we all are shagging and taking drugs' kind of way.

It then got turgid in a middle-classed navel gazing exercise of where it all went wrong.

You're confirmed my fears and I won't bother with the rest.

It puts you in the "I feel your pain, why did we do this" bracket every time it rains. Or when the trees shed their pollen. Or when previously unnoticed dust decides to blow onto the roof/bonnet seconds after cleaning it.

Or it marks you out as an easy going, live and let live guy who doesn't mind driving a dirty car. I wish I was like that.

I get great satisfaction when the pigeons manage to read my sign and do their business on my wife’s car instead of mine:

”Always poo on the red car on the drive”

    Code 404 on Sky One.

What is this poo, I asked after 30 seconds, before promptly watching all 6 episodes back to back.

Escapist, amusing nonsense perfect for lockdown if you like daft comedy.

I agree. Disappointing given the strong cast.

Finished the first series of Detectorists last night. Really enjoyed.

I agree, series 1 is excellent. Just to prepare you though, in my opinion, subsequent series were not so.

  6. Struggling to find anything decent on Netflix and Now TV that I’ve not seen before, I turned to the Channel 4 app last night and watched Nowhere boy about John Lennon’s early life. Very watchable (7/10). Don’t worry, you don’t need to be a Beatles fan, there isn’t any of their music. It doesn’t go that far into his life.

Crash - the story of Derby's championship season.

With Jake Gyllenhall as Richard Keogh and Rylan Clark Neal as Tom Lawrence.

Stephen Graham stars as Wayne Rooney who single-handedly rescues both from the wreckage of their crumpled cars before leading Derby to the Premier League under the quiet tutelage of Philip Cocu, played by Mark Heap.

    I'd watch it.

Flight of the Phoenix Wayne and Philip survive the plane crash of a season that was 2019/20 to help Derby fly again.

Just watched 'The Wolf of Wall Street'.

Christ, did they not have an editor on the payroll, 3 hrs which could have been covered in 60 minutes?

I'm almost ashamed to admit it's one of my favourite films.

I'm afraid your criticism could be levelled at pretty much any film.

  9. I've started watching "Dirty Money" on Netflix. A series of documentaries about scandals from around the world. The VW diesel emissions was a good one as was one about a pharmaceutical company called Valleant (I think that's how they spell it). They invest next to nothing in R&D, which is bizarre for such a company. What they do is identify smaller companies that manufacture a drug for which there is no alternative. They then buy the company, close down their R&D and hike the price for the monopoly drug by several hundred %. Also been a good one about a US pay day loans company that tried to protect themselves from legal action by making native American tribes "owners" of the company.

  10. Like a few others, just finished Tiger King. Very difficult not to binge watch it which is usually a good sign.

Watched the first episode of the new series of Friday Night Dinner. Definitely, in my opinion, a series that has jumped the shark.

Now trying to get into the latest series of WestWorld. Finding it hard going.

Much the same here on the sleep front. And I know I'm being short-tempered with the family as a result. Not really sure what the solution is though. Doesn't feel like the situation is going to get better any time soon ?

Not necessarily directly related to CV but my wife, currently recovering from breast cancer, has had to go back on antidepressants. We’ll get through it, especially as she’s determined not to stay on them for too long. It’s not easy trying to stay up beat myself when my wife, daughter, son in law, and brother in law all suffer from depression (reckon I must have a curse or something). But, as I say, we’ll get through it.

  12. Just binge watched White House Farm.

Very good series with excellent acting (except for Stephen Graham’s Welsh accent).

Although, as is often the case, I can’t help feeling it was a little biased especially if you read about the case afterwards.
