BPV reacted to Ambitious in The Paul Warne Poll
The international break is a good opportunity for Clowes to review things. Ultimately he needs to consider whether Warne is the man to get the best out of this squad of players? Similarly to what he did last season with Rosenior.
Are performances better now than they were at this point last season, does the investment correlate with the results achieved by the club in its current form?
He might still consider Warne the best person for the job, I don’t know, but it’s definitely worth the inquiry now.

It seems like he spent the whole of pre-season doing running drills or practising set pieces. Struggling to think of anything in the team apart from attacking set pieces that looks like it has improved from last season.

Warning: slight overreaction ahead. Might be slightly tongue in cheek / facetious, not rely intended as a balanced post taking multiple factors into consideration (already done that with my other posts), just the one repeating issue
Last season showed that you can't ask NML to keep playing when he's clearly knackered, or else he will become ineffective at best and sloppy as to be a problem to his own team at worst.
Warne alluded to overusing certain players when he analysed last season and the logical conclusion was that he was referring at least in part to NML.
Even Phil Brown (Phil Brown FFS) was able to point out today that NML was knackered quite early on and veering toward 'a problem', and that be should have been one of those subbed off... and yet he played all match.
So, such as?
Just one who learns from his mistakes and doesn't make Phil Brown look a tactical genius by comparison? That's not asking much is it?

A club where he can get away with a "We have to play this way because it's us against the big boys" mentality.
That approach doesn't work when you are managing one of the big boys.

If we’re getting 4 years of this type of football then DC will see a big drop in attendances

Get him gone. The football is bad, the team can't do the basics and despite all the noise in pre-season about getting everyone fit the squad is already on life-support and looking shattered.
Warne and Derby are just not a good fit. He needs a different type of club,we need a different type of manager.

Paul Warne, it's not me, it's you.
Tactically inept.

BPV reacted to DCFC Kicks in Sonny Bradley
The problem is when he makes an error it's usually fatal because he's often the last man and his lack of mobility means he has no chance of atoning it.

Unfortunately, decent performances mean very little if you continue to make game deciding errors

Sticking with a manager that can't get a tune out of the squad he has helped build and who looks tactically out of his depth in the third tier probably doesn't work either to be fair.

I would agree with you if there was any evidence of progression. Since Warne has arrived the team has gradually regressed and are getting worse. He's been here over 50 games now. I think our players have actually gotten worse at football because they're training to be brutes instead of footballers. The players hate playing this way and look miserable. No team wants to loan us players because they're not going to learn anything playing this style. We could wait 20-25 games but then half the seasons over and we might have to write of another year.
The longer we leave Warne in charge, the longer it will take to reverse the damage he's doing.

Agree to some extent but this is why I'm a bit concerned
I think if you gave PW say 3-4 gifted players who could make a difference it won't matter as we don't go out to control a game
With good players you want them to make a difference and without the ball how does this happen ?
The best players in the world would be in-effective if everytime we got the ball we looked to play percentage football
I know this is old hat but when Mac got Clough's players playing some great attacking , non percentage football I always thought we were in the game even if we went 1-0 down.
A good example of this was Brighton away in the first leg of the playoff
Brighton went 1-0 up yet we didn't panic played our game and got back into it and deservedly won
My big fear is good, decent players are being nullified to an extent because we are not looking to play football through the thirds and today most succesful sides do try and play football even in division 3
I get a bit embarrased at times witnessing how we play when we have some good players and would like to see us overloading areas of the pitch and opening teams up with good quick passing and moving
I am now very 50/50 on PW a bloke I like and want him to succeed but when some rightly say we now have 2 weeks to work on things ...what exactly are we going to work on ?
Not keeping the ball and a bit of possesion and dragging teams out of shape ? as I don't see much evidence that is Warne's style
I just wish DC had got a manager who likes to play the game in a nicer fashion .....I still think most teams who have more of the ball tend to have more chance of winning

Far from it. I’d absolutely love nothing more than Warne to make me look like a mug. I’ll wipe that egg off my face with glee. I love this club and want the best for it. At the minute the management team isn’t getting the best out of the players, in my opinion.

He was actually really good as a pundit - he clearly understood what was going on in the pitch and was eloquent explaining it. Well worth a listen back.
The gist off it was, he’d talked quite a bit pre-match about how other teams had beaten Bolton recently - played a wide front 3 to stretch their back 3 and pick holes in it - and was baffled that we hadn’t really tried to do the same. A fair bit about players not being able to do the jobs they were asked to do too - Fornah as a number 10, NML as a wingback etc. It could just be me being my usual negative self, but I think he was pretty shocked about the whole way we approached the match and was biting his tongue, because he didn’t want to be too rude about Warne.

Did we play the car crash wing back formation again?
We've got some very decent midfielders - probably amongst the best in the league - and he seems to want to play around them not through them - absolutely mind boggling

David Clowes made the (incorrect) decision this time last year to move away from a possession based approach (which suited our squad much better imo) when he hired Warne. He knew what he was losing. He knew what he was getting. Since then, this chaotic, maverick style has ensued. We'll win some games sometimes, like last weekend, but more often than not we'll lose and be frustrated - it really is a tough watch. Nothing new implemented this season, no sense of a renewed direction and a totally wasted summer (Warne's first) that should have been grabbed by the scruff of the neck the minute after the last kick of last season.

How much possession do you think we had before the red card? You saw that first half didn’t you?
I don’t expect us to win every game, I expect us to play a brand of football that gets the best out of the squad of players we have. Ideally, it would be enjoyable to watch but I’d take results over that.

Nobody expects us to win every game.
Just tired of watching our opponents play really decent football with a coherent plan whilst we do pass pass hoof to the channel until something drops our way or we earn a set piece.

NML is a good player when played out wide unfortunately when his role requires him into a “wingback” position he works hard at his defending and then doesn’t have the legs for his attacking role.
I think I would rather see NML left in an attacking role, he isn’t a natural defender and we lose his attacking threat when we use him as a defender.
Using NML as a wingback we have an adequate defender and a tired attacker.

Brian Clough wouldn’t tolerate this constant blaming of officials. If we competently did our job it wouldn’t bite us as often as it feels like it does.

Paul’s interview on rams tv. States that the team didn’t show enough character and then a minute later commends them for their character.
