That’s how I saw the game . I really don’t get a lot of the negativity on here but it’s all about opinions. I’m positive after the game and with a few additions I think we will do ok .

Disappointing start as pre-season sounded so positive. But think just too anxious to win. They had bit between teeth due to -8 points. On the upside
- first and only home defeat out of way
- no unbeaten run to get stressed about 
- no jinx from manager of month for august in Sept
- no further offers for players
- window still open
They won because of 2 daft goals.it happens.  No need for all the angst. Felt sorry for Bradley. Liked Ward. Great goal from Fozzy. Some classy skills on show from Wilson and great attitude with youngsters at end despite loss. 
 
What was the idiot on pitch at end thinking? 
Lee from Korea can never come again. Total jinx.
igor's first game was 1-4 loss and saw tweet this week showing that in last 5 or 6 promotion seasons started season badly with often say 2 or thereabouts wins from first 6- 8 games. Cant find it now. 
 

First game with a squad he's built. It's pretty customary to give the manager a chance. Try it for once. 

Not sure I'm brave enough to catch up where I left off in this thread, way back on page 13!  I dread to imagine how it's gone!  😲
 
Have to say, I WAS rather enjoying things early doors.  I found minutes 10 to 30 ish quite promising.  Plenty of endeavour, neat passages of play, oodles of promise.  Importantly, I also felt entertained.
Even their opener didn't dampen my positive spirit.  After all, it only came from a schoolboy error, which is gonna happen at this level.  We were still the best looking team on the pitch.
Even after a less convincing second half, I'm still not convinced we deserved to lose that, but we certainly didn't deserve to win, in the end.  There's plenty of room for improvement of course... but equally there's plenty of time to achieve that!
Need to be more savvy.  Cleverer of mind, spirit, and foot!  Need to up the urgency when the opportunity arises, and be less "care-free when the oppo have the ball.
In the end, I came away feeling more frustrated than a genuine "disappointment".  I guess that means I still have hope, and that my expectations remain more positive than not.
On to the next one then... 

You cannot, repeat cannot, legislate for your marquee cb signing and 2nd place in last seasons POTY making those two mistakes. They let their team mates down today. 
 
Going down 1-0 in a gritty game makes everything seem more forced and lumbered as they can sit and hit us on the break. They didn’t lay a glove on us in the second half until their second goal. 
 
A really bad day at the office and the bench looked very light on game changing options. It’s clear Bird isn’t the 10 Warne thinks he can be but I’d rather have Bird and Smith in the middle. How does that happen now Hourihane is captain? A difficult one.

Over reactions exactly what I was expecting when coming on here, along with Collins being targetted as usual.
For the majority of the game we were the better team but we gifted them 2 soft goals. They hardly got in our half in 2nd half, it was all us.
Collins was full of effort as always, ended up running out wide due to lack of support up front which hopefully he will get when Washington is fit. He had 1 chance and forced a save from the keeper.
For me Smith was our best player, particularly 1st half, only midfielder who was trying to play forward. Bird put alot of work in but no great creativity in a position that requires it.
Biggest disappointments for me were Wildsmith, NML & Hourihane. Why Hourihane went back to Bradley for their 1st I dont know, got the ball in the middle of the pitch with loads of space in front of him & he passes back to Bradley.
Some of Wards deliveries were brilliant, Wilson looked a bright spark but will frustrate fans. Our main issue today was the bench, no attakcing options other than Washington.
Ref gave them everything 1st half, how we didnt get a penalty on Bradley I dont know, the lino was looking right at it. The booking for Smith was a joke too.
Get Sibley & Barkhuizen back plus 2 or 3 more attacking players in & we will be right up there come the end of the season.

The ref had had a pretty good game until that point.
(Lino was rubbish we should have had a penalty. Why didn’t he see all that blatant shirt pulling ?.  He couldn’t see a touch line either ) 
But the Cashin one was so so wrong. Two blokes jumping for a ball shoulder to shoulder. One of the two was chunk of Irish granite so the other player fell over and said piece of granite didn’t. Foul play ? 🤣 

Fortunately, I'm old enough to know that the early season games are usually not an indication of how the season  develops. Today doesn't mean very much at all.
The worry is though, there were some really troubling signs there.
The back three are painfully slow. It won't have gone unnoticed that Wigan just kicked the ball past them and got through with ease.
The midfield three were too static and offered very little. They were neither aggressive nor creative. I can't see those three being the right blend. 
The bright side was both of our right sided wing backs created a lot of chances. Unfortunately, we didn’t have strikers in the right place to convert them, or midfielders bursting into the box to pick up the 2nd balls
Wildsmith was also quite poor. Back to the nervy keeper he looked when he first signed, rather than the confident, consistent player who finished the season.
I'm glad it was the first game of the season. They are often anomalous to what follows, so not too worried. If that was the 10th game, I'd be seriously concerned though.
Not completely comfortable with the captain. It makes him difficult to drop, and I'm not convinced that he's better than Smith and Bird, and we can't play all three together 
On that showing, we need 2 strikers and creative midfielder if we're going to compete.

Did people think we were playing bad at 0-0 or at 1-1? I certainly didn’t.
At 0-0 we were loose and they had a couple of decent chances but so did we. We’ve been punished for them scoring their one chance at 1-1 and then for our lack of squad depth as we had nobody to bring on to save the day.

If some fans are giving him up on our manager after 1 game, they are s*** fans. Who cares what they think? 

1 match, it's also not really Warne's fault that Bradley undercooked his pass back or that Wildsmith didn't get the cross that he came for. 

Unless Warne starts winning soon, he’s out. He’s starting to lose the fans and that never ends well.
can still stick his f****** why wall up his arse regardless of results though.

We have played one game which we should have got something out of. Can we at least give it until the end of August before we self combust….

Spent about 5/6 years there, have I missed something and they ended up in the Vanaramma Conference North?

We deserved to win.
We didn’t win.
Play like that each week and we will win more than we lose .
Small margins win games and I’m positive for the season .

Thats football isnt it, its not the first time we’ve ballsed it up and wont be the last.
Warne isnt accountable for stupid individual errors like that.

My only wish and view is that we don’t judge what’s going to happen over the season by the results in the first 6 games. Not only is it a tough string of matches but it will take time for the new players to properly bed-in in a real match scenario .
Let’s all stick together for what will be a marathon of a season …

Really enjoyed that. Thought it was the perfect last game/ test before the season opener. Couple of things I thought the subs made an impact when they came on. Washington looks intelligent and busy. Wilson looked energetic and athletic. Waggy looked good in the little cameo and to me it’s a no brainier to get him in. Much prefer Fozzy at LWB. Defence looked pretty solid a few sloppy errors but you’d expect that in a friendly. Midfield looked good. Is Hourihane going to permanent skip I wonder? Ndiaye looks a player looking forward to seeing him play in the prem

Actually a good game to watch as far as friendlys go. I think Warne will have learned a lot today, bit worrying the last 10 mins, Smiths mistake and no cover in front of the centre halves. Plus points Washington looked sharp and looks a good signing, Waggy may of earnt himself a contract, centre backs look strong, Forsyth can do a job at LWB and Nelson’s long throws could provide a few goals. Would still like to see at least one more striker. Overall feel positive about Derby performance and the season ahead.
