Average team age by club in League one:

    https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/league-one/altersschnitt/wettbewerb/GB3

Derby county oldest average age of all teams in League one (if this is accurate), at 28. For me age is an issue when contrasted against championship teams average age.

Good stats by team in the Championship. I think the players are younger and with better quality. Being younger less injury prone.

I think the teams are better at set pieces, if we don't have already, I recommend hiring a set pieces Specialist coach.

To compete in the Championship we will need to spend more money and not rely on older players and loans.

I doubt we are going to compete with many of the championship clubs and yet where we've spent several years not utilising a transfer budget, if the club wants to try and compete and try and not get relegated, spending money in my opinion is essential.

I dont think our strategy of bringing in older players and loans will save us in the Championship.

Serious question, given that the club has to be financially self supporting, where do you expect the extra cash to come from?

  2. In the infamous words of the Liverpool legend that was Alan Hansen " you cannot win anything with kids", he was wrong when talking about Man united, but I believe his comment is correct when talking about the current Rams Team. Looking at last nights game our goal scorers were Barks aged 30, Collins aged 33, and Hourihane aged 30. In fact our top 5 scorers this season include those 3 plus Waggy aged 33 and NML aged 31.  The latest great new young sensation JJ flattered to deceive and is absolutely not an answer to lowering the average age of our goal scorers ( he may however win a prize for falling over dramatically), and I can see no youngsters in the squad who come close to the abilities of our OAP mainline scorers. I have been a quiet critic of Warne's managerial style, but I now accept and believe we need experienced journeymen to achieve promotion, we definitely will not get promotion playing kids.

If the two clubs have just been charged with this, then how long before anything is decided on, punished wise? Are we talking weeks, months, or years??

I believe it has to be decided before April this year and sanctions implemented, so as the Premier league does not end up with the EFL Derby/Wycombe/Boro situation and law suits flying around

This is not the House of Commons, so be a bit braver and call me a liar!

I do remember being asked to show my boarding pass at the plane door on at least one occasion, but not in the last 20 years, (the automatic checks since 9/11 have done away with the need).

They check your ticket on a flight if you are turning left instead of right on boarding

.....and you know he isn't doing this already, how?.

I don't know the man but he doesn't strike me as someone who doesn't have a plan. Maybe he should do it "quietly and selectively" but keep us all informed at the same time?

I don't believe we are up for sale at the moment I get a notification whenever a football club goes up for sale, Fyi I got this one below recently, FWIW I cannot see DC selling unless he gets all of his investment back including the funds he is injecting to cover current running costs, therefore no sale until at least in the championship.

Finally I would point out that being owned by a billionaire is no guarantee anymore the most successful are owned by countries (Man City, PSG, etc) or Private Equity (think Chelsea)/Pension funds (think Ipswich)

  6. As DC owns all of the shares any sale of the shares, then the cash would go to DC and NOT THE CLUB

The only way an investor could put money in would be for fresh shares to be issued and then the  cash raised could be used by the club, however as DC owns 100% of the shares with a face value of say £1 per share then someone investing £25 million at a pound a share to match DC would only own, 33% of the club.

No outside person(s) is going to invest, it will be all or nothing before DC relinquishes control.

DC owns the club and he can run it as he wishes so all his critics out there can suck it up.

FWIW DC probably has got buyers remorse with PW but will not throw good money after bad at the moment.

  7. Mansfield Town, played 10 Won 4 Drawn 6 lost 0, 2 points from top position in league 2, goals for 17 goals, against 9 currently 4th in league

I would have Clough back in a heart beat, came into DCFC and told to reduce wages by 60%, which he did and had no where near the backing that the PE teacher has had, bring him back.

  8. I came over to the UK and went to the match with a crowd of friends we sat in west upper where I still have a seat, on Sunday  I also caught up with friends who sit in the North Stand, I can tell y’all that if Warne continues as manager the ground will be virtually empty next season, to a man and woman we were disgusted at what we witnessed. None of us will be there tomorrow night and the lack of enthusiasm to turn up for another game was palpable. Apart from Waggy there was no effort from the team, and the tactics were at sub pub team level. Clowes must be getting severe buyers remorse about warne, and I predict as soon as crowds drop below 20 k he will be an ex manager.

  9. The decision on Warne's future is a little way off being made yet, but putting myself in David Clowes position my thought process would be as follows.

The results have been poor and the performances worse, and the fans are going apoplectic, however being logical about this I need to not knee jerk into making a rash decision.

I may have underestimated the challenge facing Warne, but his previous track record in getting out of this division was excellent and I should trust my initial judgement, but if things don't improve the crowds will drop and that will be a financial and personal disaster.

The manager needs to understand how serious his and the clubs position is and he needs to be given a set of targets he has to hit to avoid the termination of his role these should be,

    1. An immediate improvement in performances, team structure and tactics.
    2. 4 wins in next 10 games minimum
    3. No more stupid press interviews
    4. Crowds must not drop below 20,000, this should not be a problem if 1. is rectified
    5. Any fall into the relegation zone will be instant termination

I have always found that people work best if they understand what is required of them and they know the owners expectations, I would suggest there have been conversations already and the bar man at last chance saloon is pouring a last drink.

I write this with having a reputation of being intolerant of poor performing subordinates and of course I might be wrong on this occasion.

We only get £750 k per season tv money. But Sky are saying the viewing figures for anything less than Prem football are getting worse, so they want to pay less. Prem say that the new Government Regulator will cost £100 mill per year. The fight goes on for Championship and below .

TNT (used to be called BT Sport) appear to be favourites

FYI Apple have just paid $2.5 billion for the rights to broadcast the MLS games over here, so Sky are talking BS, Rams v Leeds in the Championship would get 1,000% more viewers globally than Brighton v Crystal Palace in the Premiership. Sky don't want the competition from the EFL being broadcast professionally.
