  1. Shamelessly, I missed watching Derby to go around my Forest supporting mates for a few beers. So ended up watching them get beat by Newcastle.

I know it's one game and things can change quickly, but they were very poor. They couldn't get it out their own half and string more than 3-4 passes together most the game.

And Lingard.... I honestly think he's a prem standard player but I think he needs quality around to showcase his own skills. He isn't the sort of player that's going to stamp his authority on the game, and drag them to draws and wins. I don't think he take games by the scruff of the neck.

    Just watching back the highlights

He's going to demolish that league if he stays fit,  such a complete player and athlete. To be that big and strong, but then accelerate like that over 5 yards, its terrifying how good he looks.

Imagine him with us in league one

Fixed it as it wouldn't let me edit. I should proofread more as I make so many mistakes now I'm getting old. My brain says one thing and my fingers don't keep up

Undr The Cosh and The Fozcast by Ben Foster, pretty much the only 2 I listen to now, well watch as they are on YouTube.

So many out there now it’s almost impossible to keep up with unless you have no other interests than football.

Used to listen to more, including all the fan produced Derby County ones which are excellent, it’s just reading opinions on this forum, social media, when I put the phone or computer down, last thing I need is more Derby/football content.

Undr The Cosh fills the Magic Sponge gap, digs into former players/managers careers pulling out stories, if you haven’t seen any, jump on YouTube and dig out the Mark Crossley ones just for his Brian Clough impression and stories.

Another would be the Jeff Winter episode and Leon Knight, although you have to take his stories with a huge pinch of salt with that one.

They have recorded one with Stephen Bywater which I literally cannot wait for, they are holding on to it as he’s requested it isn’t released yet which only builds the interest as he must have revealed some stuff.

Just on the Jeff Winter one now!

Bywater was a right... I better not say it... He will have some funny stories for sure

Try Under the Cosh, I watch them on youtube but they are downloadable as podcasts

    Here's a Derby related one

This Forest t*** has some funny stories

That Alan Rogers one is hilarious. Picking and choosing a few of these but will try and just start back from the start soon.

  5. Good luck to him

Very harsh to write him off completely. The coaches and manager haven't got rid permanently so I assume they still believe he can do something. They see a lot more than we do from the 20 mins or so you might see him as a sub etc.

Players aren't robots, and a lot of things can affect how they play. Run of games, bit of self belief, experience in the adult game (not the u23's) may all help reach a decent level. I imagine seeing Plange doing his thing can put real pressure on a kid in the same position, he's probably so desperate to get some goals and get his career underway that it hinders your game. Hopefully he feels less pressure at Carlisle and finds the net.

The problem is that there will always be a small number of people who, for whatever reason, are incapable of taking personal responsibility. Mental health issues make it almost impossible for some to dig themselves out of the big dark hole they find themselves in and they become increasingly incapable of rational thought.

As a sad example, a close member of my family has dreadful mental health problems caused by cerebral palsy. He cannot stop spending money and although he has a well paid job he takes out loan after loan from unscrupulous lenders. His parents have had to spend £20,000 to keep the bailiffs from the door over the past 2 years and yet as soon as the debts are paid he is bombarded again on line with the same advertising offering him more loans which he accepts.

I wish more could be done to protect vulnerable people against being exploited this way. It's a nightmare for themselves and for their families. They can't help their character flaws, mental health issues, lack of self control or whatever it is that leads to compulsive behaviour.

Maybe that's the issue that needs looking at? Not the advertisers of gambling, loans, food etc (the list is long)

But maybe more needs to happen to protect people vulnerable to such things from actually falling into these traps. 8ts very hard to recognise the signs though.

I've mentioned my own problems with gambling and drugs, no one close to me would have guessed either though unless I did something terrible in which case its too late.

I honestly don't know what the best approach is ?‍♂️

The gambling companies like the story to be that it is about your choice.  To some extent it is of course, but online casinos are so addictive, it gets beyond you very easily.  There must be some reason why some people get addicted and some (most) don't, but not having the addictive product put in front of your face would help not becoming addicted.  My Gambling with Lives colleagues would say that you shouldn't blame yourself for becoming addicted.  It was because Jack did blame himself that he took his own life.

I don't disagree with what you are saying, and I know betting companies have no real concern over my health. The only reason they pretend to care is to themselves.

I do believe online slots etc, where its constantly available to play 24/7 are dangerous and should be limited in some way (although I'm not sure how) but I also don't believe in censoring things so it's difficult for me to say all sponsorship should be banned. I'm going to keep tabs on the thread and read other thoughts though. It's interesting to hear different views and experiences to understand better

Very very rare I bet, Altho I spunked £100 on the Dogs being relegated ?, I don't understand betting odds, Or play the machines, So my question is this.

How would the above work, What would stop the person moving onto the next bet or terminal, Walk down most high streets in the UK and the betting shops are as many as fast food outlets

I have no idea with physical machines, they've lowered the stakes, maybe they need throttling so you can't bet so much per spin/min? I know in the past someone could burn through £100's in a very short space of time. Maybe slow down how fast it can be lost?

Online, companies could have limits imposed that could be spent on virtual events. Of course it doesn't stop someone signing up for multiple sites, it may help though?

  9. Sorry I'm just going to add to the above.

I do think all this "virtual betting" needs cutting back with max stakes per day. For the people I've seen addicted, the main go to is virtual slots, virtual racing, virtual roulette where its all been predetermined to make sure you never come out on top in the long run. I remember seeing a lad in the bookies with his £400 cash meant for some bill. Playing slots and was upto £1000 up... He was that addicted that winning just didn't seem enough, he walked out with out the £1000 profit or £400 he walked in with that day. And I saw the look in his eyes of despair.

So I don't agree with a complete ban, but there should be limits on how much a betting company can take off you on a predetermined event.

  10. It's a difficult one and it's very easy to say it should be banned when you read heartbreaking stories. I myself have an addictive personality and have my own issues as a youngster with gambling and drugs amongst other things. I remember a specific moment being told about a dead cert and putting everything I had in my account on it chasing money I'd spent elsewhere.

But I found the issue was ultimately me, my personality and my own flaws.

Maybe some limitations might help making it so normal and easily accessible? But at some point I think individuals have to take some personal responsibility. Otherwise everyone will need everything controlled, alcohol, junk food, shopping habits, porn etc. All can lead to addiction and all can have severe consequences.

I don't want that to come across as insensitive and I feel for the original poster and the poor guys family and friends.

That's just my view, which is of course, one of many different ones. I don't know if my view is right, skewed by my own experiences. Maybe I still blame myself for a past me instead of outside factors, I don't know.

  11. If the money had gone through, and he became Derbys new owner...

What would it mean for the club if it then turned out months later, that money was investment funds and CK had no right to use. If criminal charges etc were brought against him.

Would he be forced to sell like Man City's old Thai owners?

I hate to think of the mess that might have followed if that happened

  12. Last few weeks/months I've just been introduced to podcasts

    Any recommendations??

I've been listening to "Quickly Kevin will he score, 90's podcast"

Fully recommend to anyone who sees the 90's as the pinnacle of football, great trip down memory lane. I've just got to the end but would love another funny 90's podcast

*** Two tickets for the Oxford match ***

I have two tickets for the match (1 x adult, 1 x 6-12 year-old) available. They are together in the North Stand. I can't get there now due to car trouble.

If nobody wants them on here I'll contact the club or the Rams Fans Trust I saw on this forum.

They are free to a good home - feel free to make a donation to charity if you wish. I trust that whoever takes them won't just sell them for a quick profit. I'm sure people on here wouldn't do that!

Not sure how best to forward the tickets (they are hard copy) and I am NW based so we'll have to cross that bridge as and when.

If I hear nothing back by 9am tomorrow (Friday) I'll explore other options.

( @David - I assume this is okay to post as it's a genuine attempt to get two more Rams into PP to support the team rather than someone looking to turn a profit on face value? If not then please let me know and I'll delete this post).

These would have been perfect but I also have a 1 year old that apparently not allowed to leave by herself...

Great gesture though and I hope someone snaps them up

I said in a previous post...that the internet is a wonderful tool for + or - projects, It's documented that large companies were chucking his company millions of $s, I assume they went into the companies bank account, A simple print off with references, Bank statements, Company credentials, All the things that's needed to move forward, It's been said that Q, EFL and even Nixon "SAW THE FUNDS" what did they see...£23million pounds stacked against a wall or a bank statement saying there's money there and has been transferred.

Now for an old timer like me I can struggle with the intricacies of the Internet, But there's organisations out there...legitimate/illegal that can produce miracles out of thin air.

My question is this...what did the 3 above see?

I honestly think after reading that article, that he has transferred the money out his company "investing" account, of which he only has access.

He's got this money sitting in his account or a holding account which he has shown as proof

He's gone to transfer millions, money laundering has asked more questions, he's got cold feet as its not really his own personal wealth.

I think his crypto story is fabricated as he knows it's impossible for anyone to verify it.

He will be on an O1 visa which means he will be taxed as an American citizen, where he lives is irrelevant, my guess in a serviced apartment, as you only pay tax at the end of the calendar year any bonus  paid would be part of his W2 which the employer gives to the employee which shows total earnings. The highest rate of federal tax is 37% son my tax calculator after deductions for being married etc he would pay $416,000 in tax

Not related to WR but I thought different states have different rates

Our director moved to Florida for that reason

  16. Maybe it's my understanding but that Forbes article...

Sounds like he has investment, into an account only he can access.

He then buys a jet, lavish lifestyle etc

He's just using investors money for his own lifestyle? So that's how he proved his funds maybe?

Did he have to back out when it became apparent he'd have to tell the authorities the money was from his company, and those investors?

Hopefully this is something the club will get a lot better at with forward planning..agreeing contracts even before they reach the age where they sign one..

    Birmingham have done it again..

Surely it means nothing until he actually signs it? So for what purpose is it? Other than maybe show the player you defo want them

I have to say, I wouldn't want any club to actually go under, but it would do some of these other clubs' fans some good - Birmingham, Boro, Bristol are the three that stick in my head for coming to PP and singing about partying when Derby die - to go through some of what we've been through over the last 9 months and see how it feels to be on the receiving end.

This isn't going to get confusing at all ??

  19. Proper getting old with this moan....

On my estate, infront of our row of houses, there's a large patch of grass, think 1/4 of a pitch maybe a little smaller. It's not had houses built on it something to do with drainage.

I get irrationally angry when kids come and play on it and make a noise, so much so that I tell the missus there's kids on our grass and march around the house. I don't go out because its not my grass, and young kid me would have laughed at old grumpy me....

  20. I don't sing them all but I have no problems with any of them.

If anyone takes offence at a football match and rattled them, the original fans chanting have been successfull ? I don't take too seriously what's sang in the moment, most fans are reasonable and don't wish death to another club, its just a way of winding you up and getting one up on you.

My exception to this is personal insults where its unwarranted eg Billy Sharp, the bomber song to German fans.
