    Anybody else underwhelmed?

    Yes and no...

I suppose we see mock up pictures etc but it's really hard for me to grasp that this is an actual photo of the universe, and I struggle to really understand the magnitude and size of what's inside.

When I start thinking more about what it actually is, then I start to be impressed.

Anyone else struggle like me? Please say yes ?

Bird reminds me of Michael Carrick. Comfortable on the ball, un-flashy, rotates possession. Just does everything very simply and gets around the pitch without attracting attention, players all rate him and managers pick him.

But.....have to admit I never really cared for Carrick either. Similarly Max hasnt got tons of assists or goals, no crunching tackles, some classy touches but never really gets me out of my seat with lung busting Knight runs or flashes of passion like Sibley or looks like a mature Rolls Royce of a player like Bielik.

Perverse as it sounds, I know he's decent and everyone rates him...but I just cant get that excited about him and I can't pretend if he goes that I will mind. Quite prepared to agree he's a great player - that seems to be accepted collective opinion, but from where we have been over the last few months to now - I'm happy to accept if we sell him its for the greater good.

I think he's one of those where his work goes unnoticed.

These types of players are great for pretentious football fans who like to act like they have a greater understanding than anyone else. The ones that tell you that you clearly never played the game and understand the levels ? He does things you are too stupid to notice etc etc.

I actually like him, but I think at this level, we have to accept players have ambitions of greater things and everyone has a price. I just hope we start getting decent fees in the future for players.

  3. It's the obvious choice but

Hourihane, I'd have been happy if we'd signed him in the championship nevermind league one.

Curtis, he may only have one year left so not thinking long term, but he is everything we want in a player and leader. Whilst it's good for the fresh start with players, I think you need someone like him to remind the current squad where we are at, what we've been through. I wouldn't want that togetherness just lost from last season with a whole new squad.

  4. Don't have any problem with who sponsors us, but can see why people wouldn't want gambling firms. Problem is where do you stop? Ads are meant to draw people in, be it alcohol, gambling, eating, and most things have a negative impact if done in excess. Should we stop serving alcohol at the games to discourage irresponsible drinking?

I don't tend to buy many kits as an adult nowadays, I'd only wear it to lounge around in or play sports, and I'm playing sports less and less nowadays!

You could argue that MM only made one mistake...

    Not getting promoted

If we had, he'd still be m charge and everyone would adore him

    It's a funny old game

If we'd beaten Villa, the man would be idolised, a statue, probably the freedom of the city..... that's how close he was from being the hero, and now he's the villain.

What he did, he did as a fan, wanting the best for the club. He went too far in pushing the limits, but not many of us were calling for him to reign it in.

Ultimately though he failed, and it came at a price. He probably knew before Lampards playoff final that it had to happen soon or we'd fall apart.

I think the only issue is we can only extend his contract by one year. But I suspect he’s already on more, probably doubly what we could offer him right now within the business plan. So it’s unlikely to happen but fingers crossed something can be done

I hadn't thought of that, so we can't extend his current contract if its outside the business plan? So if he's on 15k at the moment foe example, his extended period or new contracts has to be inline with the plan at say 8k? I get why we have rules but it seems counter productive for the business plan that by enforcing it we will be worse off financially (although it's a risk he maintains form value etc)

Err don't think this is a new "woke" issue. I think for decades it's been widely inappropriate to describe someone solely on the colour of their skin. Really inappropriate. Obviously nothing meant by it, but it's worth picking it up and saying.  "Appreciate nothing meant by it B4 but referring to someone solely on the colour of their skin can be offensive, try describing them in another for example... ".  No massive woke war of words needed just a PM from one of the mods, probably the post removing/editing and move on.

I get what you're saying re a quick word, etc etc. And I dont want to keep going back and forth as it clearly has started to just escalate. B4 seeing post after post about it probably stresses him out as well so apologies for adding another.

There's clearly opposing views, I don't see the harm in what's being said but maybe being a middle aged white man means I just don't understand. You describe someone to identify them from the crowd, that could be skin colour, hair colour, size, clothing.

But anyway, these discussions rarely end in everyone agreeing, and me putting my 2 cents doesn't help either so let's all get back to the football ??

  8. Get him on a new longer contract if possible, then you can demand a higher fee, realistically though I don't expect more than 8m for a league one player.

If he refuses to extend his contract then look at taking what you can for the future of the club.

I've accepted the possibility of a long term build, a slow build. If we have players that are way above this level, cash in and make ourselves financially secure. What's our turnover? 20-25 million? I think... 8-10m from a player sale keeps us in a comfortable place.

I have read this forum long enough to know there was nothing meant by it as B4 seems like the most genuine person out there.

It’s just frustrating that even in 2022 skin colour is still used as a way to identify people.

People need to get over it... I understand why it's frustrating but you have to read a situation. Obviously nothing meant by it.

It shouldn't be an issue to identify someone by how they look. If identifying them as black or white narrows it down or helps then I don't see an issue.

    Maybe I'm not woke enough...

PS I haven't read pages 2 onwards so apologies if this has already been discussed and closed.

  10. I think in an ideal situation, he extends his contract, we agree to sell if a decent fee comes along.

If no one bids, he has a year to show he's head and shoulders above the rest here and leaves on a free next season.

Unfortunately, he will have an agent throwing all these figure at him, and that's taken over.

I rate him as a prospect but I have a feeling we will be playing in the premierleague before he is

  11. 170m on the euromillions tonight

If I win I'm going to make sure PP is a sell out every week next season, buy up all the available tickets for the club to give away to fans.

Easy to say this but don't panic if it's not today, it will happen, and contracts are lined up. Plans are going ahead, it really makes no difference if its a few days. It won't collapse, its a matter of when not if now.

  12. Will be sad to see him go, if Rooney had stayed I think we'd have seen a really good season from Ravel.

If he goes, I wish him well and hope he gets another decent season with games. It would be sad if he falls back into the old Ravel, that plays a handful of games and doesn't seem to settle.

  13. It's annoying for us fans, especially with all the expected dates, I never expect us to meet an expectation now.

But taking our emotions out of it

It won't affect anything player wise if it's this week it or next, players will have negotiated deals or not. They won't be waiting until tomorrow and just decide "oh its expired, I'll leave then". The players will have terms agreed ready to go if they want to stay.
