A useless manager and an owner that bet the farm on him and is now stuck. What a position to be in.

We need to fluke promotion and thank him and leave him back in Rotherham - that’s the only future I can see as hopeful

Regardless of results I hate the way Warne plays his football and makes my team look so poor when we really should be a very decent side. He will moan about not getting the players he wanted no doubt again - I have a season ticket yet again but I have missed 8 home games this season due to various reasons but it doesn’t bother me at all - sad

It’s obvious the ageing of the squad is an issue and we need to bring the age down. Warne even said he needs to bring the age down but then throws everything at a 32 year old to add even more emphasis to get it out wide and cross it

The frequency with which Warne gets outwitted tactically is alarming given the level we are at. If he manages us in the second tier that's only going to become more of a problem.

Warne opted to use Mendez-Laing in the middle rather than playing John-Jules there. What hope does an academy player have?

Considering Collins persuaded two players to join us when holidaying with them, Waghorn fell in his lap, and Bradley Johnson suggested Ryan Nyambe, maybe no one lets Warne into any WhatsApp group?

Why would a recruitment team be needed for Ladapo, Warne could just WhatsApp him couldn't he.

We will get some 18 year old with a worse goal scoring record than Brown in on loan from Tottenham on deadline day.

How many of Warne's 12 signings from this season (not including Embleton) are starters in a fully fit squad? Only Nyambe, Nelson and Blackett-Taylor? Maybe Wilson too depending on formation. Only Neson and Wilson have played in more than 50% of the total minutes this league season. The only other signing to be on the pitch more than Sibley is Nyambe.
Maybe if Warne spent what he did more wisely, he would have improved our starting 11 more than we have. How much are we paying Washington, Waghorn and John-Jules? Collectively, they've been on the pitch 400 mins less than our 8th most used player. Wages wasted on Embleton who only featured for 52 minutes. High end wages for the likes of Bradey and Wardcand barely playing.

We look at Hull's squad with envy now but the top 6 in the Champ is about as competitive as it gets, he's doing a good job there up against some big clubs with massive budgets. That is league is a big shift up in quality level from L1, Ipswich done well because they play good passing football with a high press and high energy levels. Invested a lot of money in that squad as well.

Obviously none us know how he would have performed if he’d been kept on. He also seems like an honest and likeable chap but let’s not kid ourselves that he remained with us through the hard times purely due to a sense of loyalty to the club (unless we know for certain he was offered other decent jobs and turned them down).

My big assumption is that he stayed with us because he was happy here, he didn’t get any better offers and/or he thought/hoped he’d have a decent chance of getting the job on a permanent basis.

I’ve kept an eye on hull purely because I quite like rosenior as a bloke but he’s flirting with in and out the top 6 with a very decent squad and the times I’ve watched them I’m not overly in a rush to watch his brand of football either , against Sunderland they nicked a very very much needed win in a not too impressive style / performance of the kind people slate warne for getting, like us he has had some injuries and like us he has depended on a few decent quality players creating some magic ala cavalio,
no matter how warne turns out I’m not looking at rosenior with rose tinted glassed, he has a bit to prove he’s anything like the top rated tactical master and manager some on here are claiming

I don’t know. Warne probably doesn’t either as he barely gave any of our academy lads a chance in the EFL Trophy. A big opportunity missed to check if these players are ready in a non pressure situation.

I posted a version of this in the match thread but it belongs here I think. I'm Warne out, I have been all season really. Even in our run of form performance levels were frequently poor and we rarely look like a team in control of a football match.
The simple fact is Warne thinks he can approach the Derby job with good vibes and percentage based kick and rush football down the flanks that offers little control. There's not really any nuance to it and any manager with half a brain can figure it out and counter it.
Despite the above, we have brute forced a number of wins by having better players and a bigger budget than the opposition. If we get promoted we won't have better players and a bigger budget than the opposition. What do we do then?
I maintain that a manager with a more advanced approach to football and how to set a team up would extract better performances out of this team, and the deficiencies I see in Warne's approach will only become more of a problem as time goes on.

No idea what the strategy is. No idea what the tactical approach is, beyond 'put out 11 "good characters", tell them to get it forward quickly, and see what they come up with'.
Eight points off automatic and heading in the wrong direction, despite the manager inheriting a more-than-decent squad, and being given plenty of latitude to sign new players. Odd, piecemeal recruitment with no long-term vision. A squad increasingly tilted towards technically limited, League One journeymen.
Anyone questioning any of this jeered and sneered at - as if you can't really care about something unless you believe, contrary to all evidence, that everything is absolutely fine!
    It isn't. It really isn't.

Happy clappers may not be the right term because it’s naturally divisive but there was, rightly or wrongly, a significant number of posts on our good run sneering at any one who dared to question the manager or want him gone during the highs of defeats to Shrewsbury and Stevenage, as if good results masking at times sub par performances does anything to convince people who have long term doubts about the manager.
Performances being less than convincing even during good runs is a large part of why he has been questioned, certainly by me anyway.
In most games we get by because we have better players than the other team. I don’t see a huge amount of the effects of good coaching, I don’t see many tactical tweaks that gain us an edge. We look like a team who have a bigger budget than the majority of teams at this level, and not much else. I think our manager’s level is about where we are now, which worries me.
But alas he is here to stay.
