  1. Can’t believe how downbeat some are about the chances of some of the players stepping up.

Think pointing to Nelson getting relegated ignores who he was paired with at the back - with Cashin (a year more experienced) he’s a calm head and a good leader at the back.

Marshall and Byrne were both relegated before we signed them 👀 turned out to be pretty good for us.

  2. To survive in season 1:

Assume he goes with 3 at the back.

    Starting 11:

                              New

                Nyambe Nelson Cashin

           Wilson   Adams*   New    New

                    NML   New   CBT

    Squad:
    GK:          Vickers New

    CB:       Rooney New New

    WB:     Ward.   Elder

    CM:   New Thompson

    Attack (wide):    Bark New New

    Attack (central): New Collins

Squad of 25. Assuming 5 are out injured/suspended at any 1 time. Leaves a squad of 20 (match day 19+ third keeper).

I think 4/5 new string signings straight into the starting 11 with another 4/5 into the squad would put us in an okay place for consolidation and staying up without breaking the spirit of the group that could take us there if we get up.

I don't disagree with you - but I'm not having our leading G&A player sitting on the bench with four games to go.

So the options are - either drop Ward, put NML on the wing in his true position and put someone else into the ten spot (When is Bird back?)

or keep it as is. To be honest - if Bird isn't back, I'd still keep it as it is and accept we have those weaknesses in his play in this position.

Who would you replace him with?

I’d play NML and CBT on the wings and Ward behind the striker. Showed he can finish and he can drift left or right to put in good deliveries still.

Think we’re losing too much from NML with him not having the space that being outside brings.

Take your point and agree with a lot of it. But Warne deserves a chance in the Championship if he gets us up. Time will tell with probably additional resources than he had at Rotherham, whether he can do a job for us. But let’s worry about that when we go up.

yeah I agree he’ll get his chance and he’ll have earned it if he gets us out league 1. Other teams have shown us how hard it is to get out of here.

Rotherham had players like Ladapo etc though. They went up with teams already built in his image. We have a handful of players that can truly play the way he wants us to.

Of course it is, but maybe the match thread isn't the place to air those doubts?

    But he can't help himself.

I dunno I suspect that a comment about our performance should probably go in the match thread tbf 😂

We have half a squad out of contract. Whether we go up or not, the team will be vastly, vastly different. The whole debate that this team will struggle is completely pointless. That's why I'm annoyed by it. Even Ipswich have brought in double figures this season, and that's after having an expensive, for League One standards, squad before they went up.

Concentrate on going up, worry about the squad for next year when the hoards of inevitable transfers start happening later.

Less than 2 years after near annihilation, I'm not sure what Bris expects. If they can't just enjoy this for what it is, then I feel sorry for them.

I think it’s more than within the realms of possibility that someone can both be excited by results and league position but have niggling doubts about performances and how that might transfer to a higher division?

Everyone, and Paul Warne has said this many times, knows we need better players in the Championship. If we get promotion, I think we will get sufficient to compete next season.

Everyone would like us to play free flowing football but there are times when you just need to show hard work and desire. If we are a mid- table side next year, that will do for me. Just gradual improvement, which is all we should expect after nearly falling into the abyss.

i think that Warne and his coaches have shown over the last few months that they are tactically more aware than people think. If we can get some more energetic, quicker, aggressive players in (Adams-like) I think we could be ok.

unfair to judge Warne on his Rotherham experiences. We are a totally different animal (as he has learnt).

I think knowing that we need to bring in a lot of players and having the money to do so - to the quality needed - are two different things.

We knew in Summer/Jan we needed a proper striker to help with Collins (some rumours even suggesting PW would have been happy to lose Collins if we got in his preferred target) yet finances and the market dictated that this couldn’t happen.

We not only need to rebuild with better players we’ll also be competing with 3/4 of the league for these players rather than the top 5 like in league 1.

  6. I think the reason why @Bris Vegas post has rubbed people up the wrong way is 2 fold.
    1) the timing of it

    2) deep down people know it’s accurate

We have done well to get ourselves into this position with 4 left to play despite the injuries. The recent run we went on to completely turn it around and go from play offs to automatic hopefuls was really impressive.

BUT our performances against the better sides this season will see us struggle in the championship. The gulf between this league and the one above is huge. Warne comfortably got Rotherham up 3 times to then be relegated 3 times. We need probably 12 new signings to even compete up there and none of us truly know where we stand financially and what our budget will allow.

I don’t think Bris is wumming I just think his opinions came at a time people wanted to celebrate. It’s acceptable to say this would be a relegation scrap next year in a higher division.

I like Warne but he’s done nothing to show he can be successful in the division above despite going up with the best team in league 1. We’ve not even got that luxury!!

Anyway up the rams! A nervy last 4 but put ourselves into a great position. I hope it’s wrapped up before Carlisle so we can have a party atmosphere.

Or you could say the sheer abject absurdity of religion. How crazy. When I was younger it looked as if we were heading into a new golden age of rationalism, but instead we're returning to medieval thinking. You're a professional athlete but because of an imaginary being you're not allowed to eat or drink while playing professional sport. Yeah, let's all applaud that.

Could easily have been a red. What on earth was the ref playing at not booking him.

And what a goal from Ward!!!!!!

    How dull is your take?

Religion is going nowhere so why wouldn’t we make our sport accessible for Muslim players?

  8. Disappointing start for me.
Really struggling to get their foot on it and put our mark on the game.

Weather or injuries or just playing a better side?

NML looked a bit ineffective last 2 matches (so far) - central position not working or captain responsibility too much for him to worry about or injured?

All I know is Ive enjoyed 0 minutes of it so far 😂

  9. I think the difference between Plymouth and Ipswich is that Ipswich had more players ready to step up and were more pragmatic with style at times. Plymouth also had a lot of loans in that side and have lost key players like Azaz for example. The manager loss is also quite damaging for them. Though the way it’s going at Stoke they might be able to get Schumacher back end of this season.

Probably because the ref didn’t give a free-kick every rime one if their players dived to the ground - just 95% of the time. One if their coaching staff got booked just before the final whistle, probably for a similar moan.

No from where I was it looked like they were booing Critchley/the players. Could be wrong though
