  1. Think so much will depend on squad depth as injuries, suspensions and fatigue take their toll.

Warne knows we need reinforcements in January and for me, we need 3 new players.

My fear is that Cashin and Bird leave which would mean 5 new players needed. To bring in 5 quality players in a notoriously difficult window would be some achievement. Planning seems to have been ongoing for some time so hopefully we can do it.

  2. There’s no reason at all why Paul Warne can’t take us up and keep us in the Championship. He’ll need smart recruitment and some investment from DC which i hope he will be prepared to give.

i know our long term aims are higher than the Championship but it would be a massive step in the right direction after all we’ve been through.

  3. Feel the season is just starting for us. Will be very interesting to see who starts once the injured players return. I feel with our current squad, not only should we have a strong starting 11 but we should have some excellent replacements available on the bench.

Dare I say it but quietly optimistic for the remainder of the season (famous last words).

For somebody who many people think can’t attract quality players to the club, I feel Paul Warne and co have done an excellent job in putting together our current squad. Just a matter of getting the best out of them now.

  4. I honestly feel some people need to give their head a good wobble. I really think some people think recruiting new players is as easy as going down to Tesco and buying a loaf of bread. Maybe we should wait till September 1 before judging our summer recruitment too harshly. And even giving players a decent chance to show how good/bad they are before we call them a reincarnation of Bobby Malcolm/King Kevin Hector.

  5. Sibley’s definitely got goals in him. Would love to see him get a run of games playing as a number 10 which would hopefully give him the confidence to kick on. Will be a big season for Louie. Has so much to offer but it hasn’t quite happened for him so far. Next season’s the season for him. Come on Louie!

  6. Stand by my prediction of 6 goals for Birdy. Think Smith will play CDM (Thommo when needed). Feel Warne wants Max in the opposition half much more than he was last season and with the shackles off, Max will score goals. Also wondering if Warne will make Hourihane captain - if Max stays at Derby I’m sure he will make a great captain one day. Birdy’s a gem of a lad but I often felt the captaincy was a huge ask for someone so relatively young. Now, starting to think I should up that prediction from 6 to 10 😄😄!

  7. For what it’s worth, here’s my predictions on league goals each member of the current squad will get

    Ward 6

    Wilson 3

    Elder 1

    Fossy 1

    Nelson 2

    Bradley 3

    Smith 1

    Bird 6

    Hourihane 7

    Sibs 8

    Thommo 2

    NML 8

    Washington 14

    Collo 18

    Barks 4

Hope I haven’t forgotten anyone. That’s a total of 84 which is 17 more than last season and without any new arrivals, which I don’t think will be the case.

I also expect us to concede less than last season.

Think we’re in for a good season. COIYR.

  8. Would very happily take Waggy if Warne wants him and a deal can be done. Even without him, I feel the current squad is capable of scoring more goals than we did last season when it was often a case of if McGoldrick doesn’t score, nobody will. I’d much prefer to be less reliant on one player scoring the goals. Confident of a very good season ahead. Some excellent signings so far and I’m confident if Warne can bring in the 2 or 3 signings he says he wants, it will not be just to increase the numbers. We may not have a 25 goal striker in our ranks but we definitely have goals. COYR.

  9. We’ve signed a number of players with the potential to develop. Bartley, Radcliffe, the 2 lads from Rangers off the top of my head. Just not lower league. Don’t know but suspect they’re more down to Thomas than Warne.

  10. Massive respect to Didzy for rejoining his boyhood club. Hopefully it will benefit both Notts County and ourselves. Would not want to go into the new season relying so much on one aging player for goals. Hopefully this issue will be addressed by Warne and his recruitment team before the new season.

I'll admit I dint know anything about the lad, so a question to those that do:

Given he has been described as a winger, athletic, technical and a good physical presence could he perhaps do a job as a wing back?

    Square pegs, round holes?

  12. Wonderful servant of the club, exemplary both on and off the pitch. So sad to see him go BUT Warne has to get this window right and there’s no room for sentimentality. I feel the right decision has been made.

  13. Today is vital. Win and it’s 2 on the bounce and hopefully the feel good factor and confidence will start to return. Anything other than a win and I fear that could be it.
Bearing in mind where we were 9 months ago and the size and age of the squad, this season has exceeded my expectations. Seems like we’re in very good hands now and I honestly feel the future is bright, regardless of the league we’re playing in next season. COYR.

Happy for us to play out from the back SOME of the time. Our problem, particularly on Saturday, was the defender receiving the ball didn't seem to have anticipated what he was going to do once he'd received it. Three times Roberts took the ball in space then turned into trouble.

We need to do a lot more work on the training field if we're to use the tactic as often as Leroy seems to want to.

What Liam wants is much more important.

  15. Feel we need a complete reset/restart as we can't carry on as we are as it just goes from bad to worse. Unfortunately, have given up all hopes of any sort of decent new owners under the current circumstances. Feel the proverbial has to hit the fan before we can restart and just hope when it does happen it won’t completely destroy the club. What a sad state of affairs it all is.

We have zero idea of Curtis Davies’ tactical nouse or managerial competence.

Don't think you can ever say such and such a player will definitely make a great coach/manager till they get some sort of chance. But by the way Curtis talks and plays I just feel he would learn a lot working under an experienced manager and would have something to give. Would also give us the chance to  get a better idea of his coaching ability. Really hope he gets offered a new deal at the club and if we can do this wouldn't mind seeing him in some sort of coaching role (not sure if that's the case if Rooney's still in charge though). Just my opinion anyway.

  17. Sorry to bang on so much about Curtis Davies being part of the coaching setup at Derby but he seems to have Cocu's qualities of intelligence, dignity and class but suspect he will have something Cocu never seemed to have - what it takes to win matches in English football and the Championship in particular.

  18. Totally agree atherstoneram. Need an old experienced head in charge but would love to see Curtis involved in some shape or form. Maybe assistant player manager? Think he will make a top manager at some stage and would love to see it happen at Derby.
