Wonder if that’s why Rosenior turned Blackpool down. Maybe he knew.

I'm more than a little disappointed I have to be honest. I've just seen I've ran out of milk and someone has fingered my butter.
However, the news about Clowes is absolutely fantastic. I wanted Ashley, but reservations about how our academy would fair. I would have been happy with Appleby, but reservations about his backers and how reliable it all is.
I know nothing about Clowes, but it just sounds right. He was willing to buy the stadium just to help move a deal forward, now he is willing to go one step further and take the lot.
As a fan (and not a fake one like MM), i feel/hope the stadium will remain Pride Park, the academy will remain as one of the best in the country and the future of the club will be secured. Also as a fan, he won't want to see his club in league 1 for long.
Sod the milk, I'm opening the Stella.

This is where any conversation should start and end.
The most important thing right now is saving this football club, if thats Clowes, Ashley, Appleby or even Kirchner, we should be extremely grateful.
Millions are being spent on a club that has little more than ourselves, the money it’s going to cost to purchase this club could potentially buy or even own a major stake in most Championship clubs.
It makes zero business sense buying this football club, none what so ever, so whoever it is that completes the purchase, we should be eternally grateful as we have been far too close to losing this club that means so much to us all.

Ashley: So what's the latest on my bid then. Those Bamfords at Quantuma still haven't called me...
Accountant: Yours is still the lowest offer Mike
Ashley: Yeah but I've got £50 mill in the bank
Accountant: So do other parties though Mike and the bid stands at £54 million
Ashley: Do they not know who I am?
Accountant: I'm pretty certain they do Mike. Maybe that's the issue...
Ashley: I'm Mike f****** Ashley and I vom where I want...
Accountant: Indeed you do Mike. What are my instructions then?
Ashley: To buy me Derby f****** County you thick t*** and sharpish...
Accountant: As I said Mike, you'll need to increase your offer...
Ashley: Yeah, yeah, I heard you. I'm fat, not stupid! Tell them they can have £51 million and I won't charge myself rent for 10 years. And tell them I'll let them call the stadium the Super Duper Mike Ashley Sports Direct Stadium of Awesome Dreams. Nice ring to it, that! Oh, and no charge for the stadium re-brand but only if they sign today. (Wanders off chanting) One Mike Ashley, there's only one Mike Ashley, one Mike Aaaaaaassshleeyy....

That is a great listen, thanks.
Some interesting takeaways including Appleby setting up a player representation agency (so being able to sell Derby directly to some decent players) & a commercial marketing division that as you mention has had involvement with Barcelona, Man Utd & Spurs. I also didn't realise the depth of his sports experience - being involved with Detroit Pistons in the late 80s will have been an incredible experience. That was a team that won two NBA Championships & directly denied Michael Jordan & his legendary Chicago Bulls team an NBA title until the early 90s.
I'm particularly encouraged by his previous experience with Derby though - he presided over a period starting with the 11 point season & ending in McClaren's first full season in 14/15 when the side should have been promoted back to the Prem. There were mistakes made, not least the money spent in 07/08 by Jewell to try & claim some respectability but the approach thereafter was spot on. GSE appointed a manager who by his own admission was a slow builder & stuck with him despite some dreadful runs (Appleby mentions the 17 defeats in 22 games run in 2010/11). That patience was rewarded with a squad that by 13/14 was ready to launch a promotion assault.
I also seem to recall GSE attempting to influence the culture of the league by proposing FFP (how ironic) & Tom Glick was certainly very prominent as a voice amongst Championship clubs. I wouldn't be surprised to see Appleby take a similar role, looking to advise the EFL on how to better leverage its product from a TV rights/commerciality point of view and even from a parachute payment renegotiation perspective. Appleby's humility, obvious hard work & knowledge would also repair Derby's reputation amongst our peers in the EFL - something which in a club dominated EFL, needs to happen.
He would be an excellent choice as new Derby owner. I look forward to seeing what the next few days bring in terms of developments.

Just want to say that this has been an absolute nightmare for all of us, I am down in Ipswich watching this unfold daily.  Wasting time looking at rehashed stories on the DET app and website, feeling optimistic at times and then beyond depressed by it all at other times.
There is another chink of light in the seemingly imminent AA takeover, would be great to see it go through ahead of the fixture release, spare the drama and what if's for all of us.
If he does take it on it just goes to show what an absolute armhole Ashley has been throughout the whole process.
Wanting us at price Q could never entertain, knowing this and then trying to destabilise the whole process with leaks and stories to the papers about being ignored by Q.
Feels like AA has got on with it no big stories to the press or messiah delusions to social media, long may that continue, a period of stable and steady re-building is required.  Lets not got flash with the cash again, until we have it to spend, no more Butterfields but a few more Brysons please.
Just fingers crossed it gets over the line this time.

"Andy Appleby says his bid for Derby County is in its "final strokes" as he looks to save the club's future and seal a return to the Rams.
The American businessman conducted an interview with Crain's Detroit Business amid plans to expand the United Shore Professional Baseball League. In the piece, printed earlier today (Tuesday), Appleby did not go into full detail over his bid for Derby but told Crains in a six-word update: "It's down to the final strokes."
The publication also said that Appleby was optimistic about his bid and expects to learn the outcome this week."

Folk are funny aren't they Kev? If the last few years of EFL intercessions taught us anything it's that their assistance is absolutely the superhighway to a sustainable future. I fully agree that Quantuma really should make room in their Holborn HQ for Rick and Trev to hotdesk daily if required. I mean look at the speed with which they sanctioned us in the first place. Only three years after the event. Then the 2 years it took them to find a few blokes who actually thought we'd done something wrong. Then the blinding rapidity of their dealing with Gibbo and Cowpig's grievances.
How anyone could doubt that they'd soon have this mess sorted is utterly beyond me.

Knowing our luck the EFL probably have some clause where all gypsy curses must carry onto the successor club in the case of liquidation.

Well Q are waiting for some fool to come along (CK) and pay what they say they want whilst the three potential bidders who have run and owned football clubs won’t pay that much with good reason so I think Q are delusional whilst stopping us having new owners one way or the other. I am sure if MM hadn’t put us into administration we probably would have been sold by now and would still be in the championship. Being in administration has totally and utterly hamstrung us within a bunch of EFL rules and administrators who seem unable to sell the club or even have sensible, clear and open dialogue with the supporters, the EFL and potential buyers apparently.
I am very concerned, 9 months in administration and we should have been sold by last January. The supporters, the team and management team didn’t fail when needed but I’d say the administrators and EFL have failed when needed to do what was expected.

    Except it’s worse ...
It’s obvious that the Sheikh, Alonso and CK are - give or take a few hundred lbs - almost definitely the same person. Which can mean only one thing...   Parry has employed Sacha Baron Cohen to impersonate successive bidders in an attempt to bamboozle poor q and seal our fate.
