I came to post this but figured I'd check if someone beat me to it!
People obviously want to be hopeful but I think managing expectations will be better for us as a fan base. We don't want attendances to start dwindling when we still need them months down the line, because a buyer hasn't been found yet and people had their hopes up it would be done before January...
Having spoken to pals of mine from Wigan and Bolton they said there was the exact same feeling given to them from their respective admins. Both clubs have been through a hell of a lot of pain since.
Mel has made such a mess of Derby County as a business I personally reckon we'll still be looking for new buyers come September 2022.

Just listening back on RD now before Rooney's presser. The emphasis was on we're in talks with the EFL but there may be ... in other words we can't speak too soon, but ??? #COYR

Thanks to Ollycutts - a very speedy and accurate summary of the press conference. The bit he missed because of the noise level was that there is a “distinct possibility” of a further points deduction. To me, that was the only downside from a very positive press conference.

I know that Mel is hardly the most popular character around here at present and I'm not attempting to defend him, just asking a question of those on here with more financial expertise than me.
There is a rumour that Mel has paid off MSD and taken full control back of PPS and MF. If (huge if) that's true, is it possible that he's actually acting in the best interests if the club?
He's put the club into administration, but effectively stripped out its assets. Players can't be sold until January, so they don't offer immediate liquidity. So the unsecured creditors have very little leverage. This means they will have to accept the minimum (I think) 25p in the pound for a CVA, allowing the debts to be slashed for a new owner.
In this scenario, Mel could then sell PPS and MF to the new owners for the cost of the MSD loan.
    Does that seem credible/ possible?

I thought it really interesting that the administrators hold the view also that football is broken and particularly the championship that has a huge percentage of members who are overspending to try and get to the untold riches of the premier league.

They said there’s two very credible interested parties already and emphasised one party has been in for the club previously. Said their job is to also wheedle out the ones who put their name forward with no credibility or funds to support. Ie you’re Alonsos. I think they said some of those already circuling have high net worth - they sounded very upbeat about getting a deal done.

Supporters trusts have 28 days to look in to putting an offer in.

This doesn’t delay the process of starting to look at potential buyers. Both can run concurrently.

If there is a serious buyer then they can move with that while liaising with the supporters trust.

To be fair this is making me feel a lot better. I was expecting more doom and gloom but it does sound positive. The administrators seem to be happy with what they have found so far. ????

Massively positive messages coming from the administrators. Very reassuring. Mel and MSD clearly being constructive and no suggestion they have found bombshells which have not already been revealed

    Wanting to communicate with supporters.

Just want to understand the cash and funding situation.

Want to restructure the football club.

They will do their level best to get the club out of administrator.

There will be a statement of affairs will be release shortly.

The debt is in the £10m’s.

The administrator has inherited some cash from the companies but not enough for 3 months.

Approached lenders for funds to keep the club going and are confident of trading their way through.

Yes but my point was that administration either ends with a CVA and Derby County continue to exist with a new owner, or it ends without a CVA and Derby County ceases to exist, and we start again with a phoenix club
Ending without a CVA is considerably cheaper for a buyer...

I hope there are more - not because I wish this on any other team, but because the more EFL teams it happens to, the more it exposes what a joke the EFL and it's so called financial fair play rules are

Lol. Can we stop this talk of phoenix clubs, you only have to look at Ipswich and Sunderland to see how easy it is to climb back up the ladder ?  Lets fight to keep the club we already have! #COYR

Yea reading some other clubs forums and people really hate us, as fans. Seen some boro fans are calling us all deluded cos one person on here said sky would be upset that we wouldn't be in the championship anymore.
So much for fans solidarity. Fans calling other clubs to get points deductions or be relegated or calling other teams cheats should be careful what they wish for.

The EFL will have to tread really carefully how they treat us in these difficult times as I suspect that when clubs start publishing accounts for 20/21 over the coming months many may have breached the P&S loss limit due to COVID. If they then “relax” the rules to stop half the teams having embargoes and point deducted due to “unprecedented circumstances” but not for us then they are opening themselves up to a huge claim.

Some folks are positively suggesting we can overcome the 12 point deduction. Well, even though there's been an improvement in both results and performances over last season, further improvement will be required to overtake three other teams.
A fire sale in January will scupper that idea altogether.
There's also the question of additional points deductions. I would not put it past the EFL to delay those until next season if it looks like we're certain for the drop anyway this season.
EFL fighting to protect football and football clubs. Yeah right. Bury, Bolton, Wigan, now Derby.
    Shame on them.

I absolutely agree and places like those are good examples, with there only really being one or two large centres of populations. The last thing I'll say about it here is that I've walked/rambled/hiked a lot of Derbyshire and often the people of the villages and small towns we've walked into don't feel a huge connection to Derby 'city'. The one thing that I've found as a common thread though, is the love and following of DCFC -- the emphasis being on "County". Doesn't matter if you're from Derby or Buxton or Edale... there's always someone you'll meet out there on the hills or in the last pub on the way home with a Ram on their shirt.
