No, expectations are fine in terms of this season should be at the least a serious run at getting promoted.
However, getting in a tizzy after a few games or acting like being outside the top 6 is an indignity unworthy of DCFC is all a bit much.
But for saying that, the team hasn't been convincing yet this season.

    No.
Why is our expectation too high?
"Full minutes - SCG Meeting with David Clowes and Stephen Pearce 22.09.22
...Paul Warne brings experience and now is his time for a big job at a big club. Other clubs were after him, both those with and those without a manager currently. David Clowes liked how he treats players, and journalists, encouraging everyone to get the best out of themselves."
We have a budget good enough for promotion from this league and a squad with lots of Warnes chosen players in it. Although (again from those minutes) "With regards to the players we signed and his style, Paul is adaptable, but he was after some of our players in the summer. His teams are running teams and he is happy with the players he has."
So Warne was signed for his experience in League 1 promotion, we are a 'big club' and he has a squad he was/is happy with, that he has added to. He also has a good budget from the Clubs owner.
Why shouldn't our expectation be high?

Slightly dumbfounded that the best forward for the league was available for 800K and we weren't in for that.
Where is the money to spend? We sold Knight and Bielik. What was that money used for?  Don't tell me it was to pay off outstanding fees to Lech Poznan because supporters were assured at a charter meeting that there were no outstanding fees to pay before these players were sold.
It leads me to believe that we were in for Jonson Clarke-Harris and that @Big Travwas once again correct in what he was saying. I think our move for him fell through because the Cashin move to Brighton fell through. Trav can confirm or deny that if he wants/knows.
As for his ITKness - people are saying he only knows when someone is in the building...surely the contact he has, who presumably works at the club, is always at the club all the time and is therefore hearing all the time about what the general news on the ground is/what the club are trying to do?
I have been ITK in the past as some people know (my contact left a few years ago now so haven't been for ages) and just because they worked in one particular department didn't mean they didn't regularly hear about who we were wanting to sing/what the general mood was/who the targets were etc.
So, all being said in done, I'm definitely still a Big Trav fan, I feel sorry for him for the pelters he's getting and want to say a big THANK YOU for sharing what info you get on the forum.

It’s amazing how Waggers is the new Messiah after a few games when half on here said he was too old, his legs had gone and we would get no RESALE VALUE 🤣

I was so impressed by the two new lads when they came on. I don't think either of them lost possession once, just helped us control things by finding a teammate or winning a free kick. Both look like excellent additions and have great energy and top-drawer techniques too.

Yeah, I said that to my lad. He looked like he absolutely loved it today. He was one of the last off the pitch and had a massive smile on his face. Probably helped that he’s already got a song!

I was sat right next to dug outs today, never been that bear before. Such an interesting watch was Warne and his team. Barker shouts in the technical area, Hamshaw moans at the 4th, Warne ponders and Warrington organises the subs.
The best thing apart the win and Waghorn hat trick, Fornah absolutely loves it here. He kept on looking over at the away support in amazement. Then at the end coming off, huge huge grins when his song was being sung. He was absolutely buzzing for it. He's well and truly a Ram.

Saw the Waghorn goals on the highlights and they were better than I imagined, 1st was a great finish, 2nd was very instinctive and a real good strikers goal and 3rd was just pure class to curl in beautifully 1st time on his weaker right food into the corner. Can't remember him ever finishing with such quality when he was here 1st time round.

Days like this make supporting this rabble a pleasure 👌
I think the new signings must have had an effect on the first XI as the level of intensity was superb from minute 1. Unlucky to go behind, Rooney chose the wrong man to track & left their left wing to pick out Clarke Harris from 10 inches. Thereafter, went at them with Washington & Waggy running at them with the ball & pressing hard when not.
Suffice ro say the first 45 minutes were a thing of absolute beauty. My head hurt from the celebrating, loved every moment 🖤
A lot of fantastic performances & obviously Waggy takes it. I said to lad next to me before the game he's on for 25 this year, he's SO suited to this team & style of play. Three great goals & worked his backside off throughout. Big mention for Liam Thompson though...good grief, what a little player he's becoming. A tiger in front of his back 4 & a bone fide threat running into the final 3rd...the prospect of him & Fornah together is very exciting.
Back in Leeds now, few beers deep & 86 quid train ticket lighter cos of the strikes but with a silly grin on my face. Love you Derby 🖤

We arrived at the ground Main Stand in 22 degrees, full sunshine and NO refreshments open. Were told they would open at 2.55, an hour later.
I played merry hell with the stewards (who, to be fair  were just following instructions). There was a young lad at the front of the stand feeling faint, but no drinking water available.
Anyway, I demanded they sorted it out immediately, told them it was illegal and I was reporting it to the papers.
After about 20 minutes of harassing them they finally opened up.
A ridiculous state of affairs and the sooner football starts treating away fans as paying customers, we might start behaving like them!

This was the best pressing we have done all areas on by a long way. Top class. Made all the difference.
I think Fornah will make a great impact but question is who we drop to fit him in. Still not impressed with Hourihane’s overall impact.

Tommo had an excellent game and after an awful first 10-15 mins the back three really hit it together. Rooney much better when he came closer to his player and Nelson again looked good in central defence. Does bring us back to the Bradley talking point though and whether it was a good signing.
Anyway- a bizarre game in many ways but a great win which will boost team confidence immensely.
So happy for Waggs. Would like Wash to get a goal.

Just got back in, excellent away day, great atmosphere, about time we beat posh in there own back yard.
Waghorn my man of the match, but Nelson and Tommo also very good, so pleased for everyone connected to the club.
Enjoy the rest of your bank holiday weekend fellow Rams fans. Once A Ram Always A Ram.

Had reservations about waggy returning but has so far proved myself and majority wrong. Different player it seems in this league. Said he has matured as a player since he left. Maybe so.
Had reservations about tommo in the past but he has come into the team and added real energy into that midfield. Looks like a real player.
Actually liked Rooney in the past because he does so many things well. He was put on toast today( but recovered ) and has been unlucky in the past on and off the pitch. A couple of protein shakes and extra sessions in the gym will do him the world of good.
Nelson good today and everyone else steady.
Elder yet to win me over in the cameo roles he has had.
    Good day all round

Back from the game and enjoying a beer while reading through this thread. Kinder Jnr and I had to give MOTM to Waggy and it’s well deserved, but Tommo was a close second. He was everywhere, the best I’ve seen him play. His energy is invaluable and really helped us win the ball back and retain it. I loved it when he brought the ball half the length of the pitch second half and won a free kick on the edge of the box. Hourihane gave him a lot of praise for that.
I’ve seen Rooney get a lot of stick on here but I thought he had a good game. He was done for their goal (I think, as the cross came from his side), but the guy he was up against was very quick and tricky. Not sure there are many like him in League 1. Other than that I thought Rooney dealt with him well, although second half we were defending up the other end so I hadn’t got the best view. I really like the look of him.
I was very impressed with Nelson, his best game in a Derby shirt so far. Fornah looked classy when he came on, always offering himself for a pass and used the  ball well.
A pretty much perfect away day, the most I’ve enjoyed a game since Port Vale last year. The atmosphere was superb. Can’t wait for Bolton now.

Rooney came up against the best winger in the league and got done probably twice properly. He was one of the best players after Thommo, Waggy, Cash and Wash

Well done Derby, nice win that. Positive end to the week with the 2 signings and then the 3 points. Good to get one over on the posh. Ferguson getting sent off was so funny after the fourth official grassed him up. Bring on the trotters. Enjoy your bank holiday weekend.

    Don't be so petty.
Sport, football, some games you win, some you lose. It's the long term direction of the football club that matters.
If it's cold one day in August, it doesn't mean that climate change isn't happening.
    And it's not "hate".
I don't think Warne is the right manager for us. I don't like his tactics. 4-4-2 has somewhat been forced on him. Forsyth introduced him to Waggy.
Nevertheless, of course I want Warne to succeed. Because, if he does then Derby does and we can all rejoice in that.
Let's hope we hear from you the next time we play like we did against Oxford.
Now, quit your jibing and enjoy the win 🐏

Great win, wobbly start and concede first, show some character to get level then run RAMpant then saw the game out well by being organised and still carrying a threat second half. Their second was thankfully just a consolation after a bit of tired defending, no massive drama.
Lots of positives to take away from today, still things to work on too of course.
Waggy and Thompson stand out with everyone else doing their bit. Happy Saturday folks! 🐏

Describes himself as a link up striker who likes to play in front of big crowds.
Fit and ready to go has had a whole preseason at Arsenal.
    Good stuff.
C'mon lad get scoring goals for Derby!
