What would be the sanction if Jimmy Anderson pushed an umpire and then made him back peddle under a torrent of abuse for failing to give an LBW ? 9 months ?
Football is the only sport where abuse of the officials is the norm, both from players and officials and pundits. Very poor example to kids watching the game and encourages copycat behaviour at grass roots level.

Mr f****** Mardy. He spent most of the game fouling and niggling and arguing with their players and the ref. Did absolutely f*** all, was hardly in the box and had how many shots?

Dont use the H word, it got me a ban, twice!
    I'm learning though.
Another thing Ive learnt this week is that tax avoidance is only bad if you're right wing, pretend to be compassionate and caring for other people and its fine.

I disagree. I block people (regardless who they are) because their tweets aren’t interesting or they are annoying. Lineker comes into the latter category.

So you think Lineker hasn't breached those guidelines? As I understand it he had been warned that he was breaching the guidelines, and he has done so again anyway. He has shown no intention of changing this attitude, if anything js spoiling for a fight,  so I don't see any way that the BBC can continue to engage him unless he changes his ways.

Did anyone see the Lineker interview where he claimed he suffered from racial abuse as a youngster because he was slightly darker skinned yet he was as English as they come ?,, what constitutes being as English as they come to him? The bloke is a knob without a jot of self awareness of his own words

Someone where I worked was dismissed for Facebook posts. It’s a fact of life now, she was in breach of contract.
I dislike Lineker, make no excuses for it, blocked him years ago, don’t watch anything he’s on in fact.
he’s done the cause no favours, we’re now reading all about poor mistreated Gary instead of the migrants. Own goal, Gaz.

I'm sure you'll recall that he took the refugee(s) in after being called out and asked if he was so bothered why didn't he take some in himself. (Conveniently he then remembered to declare that he had been thinking of doing it for a while).
Pay all of his tax that is due and that will be another £5m that can go toward helping people less fortunate than himself.
    What a radical idea eh?

This is great. Get back to the Big Match and Star Soccer of the 70/ 80s more football, less opinion. Why have any sports programme when 50% is ‘analysis’ by over paid presenters saying the same things we do?

Disagree. The case has also been going on for years, so of course Lineker has been tweeting for years. And he's been fully immersed in the world of tax evasion for years so is well primed over it, given his brother was convicted in 2006 and was on trial for it again in 2012. Gary is not naive. Does he actually care a jot? It's impossible to know. I do really doubt it since, if he was a decent human being he would obviously be happy to pay the tax he owes and give something back to society. Even when viewed in the kindest light, he is on the extreme side of tax-avoidance schemes. Why doesn't he pay his share when he's so privileged?

For a bit of context, Gary Lineker went to trial on 28th February for alleged tax evasion to the tune of £4.9 million (eg https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/news/leicester-news/gary-linekers-lawyers-court-start-8198629). That's how much HMRC is trying to recover from him. Imagine how much he earns, that as part of it he's trying to avoid an extra £4.9 million in tax! And these wages are in large part paid by licence fee payers who don't have a choice and some will have to pay the licence fee rather than heat their homes. For all the "progressives" on here, how happy are you to support someone who is trying his damnedest to avoid paying tax when even if he paid it he'd have far more that most of us on here could dream of?
Now here's the interesting part. This has been an ongoing battle between him and the HMRC for a few years and part of his defence, to claim he's not employed by the BBC, is that he tweets politically. And if he were a BBC employee, he wouldn't be alowed to do that. For instance this Guardian story explaining this is part of his defence to avoid him having to pay these millions in tax. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/may/07/gary-linekers-political-tweets-could-help-him-avoid-49m-tax-bill
I put it to the forum that it's unlikely to be a coincidence that a few days after the trial opens with this a key part of Lineker's defence, he posts contentious political tweets to try to get out of paying the millions he owes to the taxpayer. And the media and the woke Twitter mob and his MotD co-hosts have been played. In Lineker's case, it is all about the money, money, money.

Excellent news. Perhaps we can now have a football programme that just shows football without all the pointless nonsense in between of a bunch of ex players saying nothing of interest or import, whilst robbing licence fee payers of 100s of thousands a year in wages.
