Drapers Arms is the away pub, it’s a Wetherspoons but has had a recent refurb. Just over from the train station is the Brewery Tap which is miles better. Load of Oakham Ales. Charters is great but will be rammed. Outside area is massive with outside bars too.

Regardless of how this team was put together, if we don’t make the play offs this season will have been a failure. We’ve not been over performing. The quality in this league is very poor. As someone stated before, we’re flat track bullies. Too good for most in this league, but we’ve got a poor record against the better teams, even though I don’t think they’re that good either.

Onto today, White was poor as was the whole midfield. When we signed him he was a ‘false 9’ play in the whole, etc. Yet we play him in a sitting role today. Bizarre. He can’t tackle for toffee and can’t read it either. Knight needs to up his game. Bird is a massive miss.

Have you posted on the ‘view from my seat’ thread? Could you please do so as I want to avoid any possibility of sitting near you and hearing your nonsense. It’s bad enough reading it.

I can hand on heart with no tongue in cheek say, I do not rate Grealish.
Not for the level Man City are at, and I would not have took him to the World Cup. Sancho every day of the week over him.
If I was looking for a player bottom half of the Prem, top half of Championship I would consider him, however a clause would be inserted into his contract where he would be fined his weeks wages if he went down with minor contact.
One of the most frustrating players to watch, and this wearing kids shin pads with socks barely past his ankles doesn't do him any favours at all.

I hope you’re joking! If not, a ridiculous statement!
Grealish is a very good player. Not worth the money they paid, but a very good player. I also like that he doesn’t come out with typical footballer sound bites in interviews. Seems a decent bloke.

It seems a bit harsh to punish Derby fans when the away fans are standing literally a few seats away from you.

Also, the block next to the away fans tend to stand but not the one near the edge of the area. It seems very odd and not a good move in my opinion. It will only damage the atmosphere further at the ground.

As someone who has been right in the middle of this I'll clarify a few points as to what has been shared quite candidly with me with the head supervisor and steward over that area (not their boss as he keeps himself away from coming down to our block but does stand around before the game in the upper block behind us) .

For some context as to my knowledge etc....
I sit on the very back row of Block I which has been highlighted in the opening picture. Myself and my lad are usually one of the first in to the ground so get to spend around an hour in our seating area every match and have a great relationship with all the stewards near us as we have been there for around 9 years.
All of this stewarding and not selling the match day tickets has come about by the club receiving more than one complaint from people who sit in the first few rows of block J who sit during the game and can't see due to those in the block below them standing.
After receiving some of these complaints the club had a representative of the board, or someone reporting directly to the board sit in upper block I to see first hand what the problem is. This was done in the Bolton game and may have also been done in the Barnsley game before.
From what they saw the report back was to remove those who are not season ticket holders from the lower block I particularly so that those left could be identified and challenged and potentially blocked from the ground if they persist in breaking the ground rules and stand up.
From that many of us in both the upper and lower blocks received an email, although the stewards have been told that the club are not actually bothered by those standing at the top of J block as no one is complaining behind them and they won't challenge the South stand as the club feel that everyone in that area go there with the understanding that it is a 'standing' area so they don't complain.
The only real area of concern and focus is our lower block I due to those in the bottom seats of block J who complain, even though they have curtailed sales in the other nearby blocks.
The stewards are aware, and I have replied in my email to the club to explain the same, that if someone even 3 or 4 rows in front of us stands up, our view of the game is obscured or blocked.
We are always mindful on the back row to try and perch as much as we can (actually causing some real leg and arse pain in the process) if the 4th row in front is standing, but this is only when the two rows directly in front of us are also perching or sitting because as soon as they stand, we have to stand or we see nothing.
None of us have ever complained about the standing, even when one of the ladies was 8 months pregnant coming to the games as we love the atmosphere and banter in the area, even if we'd chose to sit if we could.
Do I understand people complaining.....slightly, and I do get the whole 'it's the rules' argument if it is enforced equally around the ground, but some of these are the same people who remained seated V Morcombe when we scored, all 5, got the pennos and throughout all celebrations and following chants etc so they are always going to miss something when the rest of the ground are on their feet.
One in particular has made it a point to complain for a long time and even though they have a right to sit in the seat with the ticket they bought, the dynamic of that whole area has changed from what it was, so it may not be the best place for them to remain seated etc compared to the few hundred who now enjoy the match day experience differently there and all those who have to stand to be able to see as well.
If the club want to stop the standing, as in really stop the standing in that area, the stewards and the club need to challenge those at the front who stand with no one in front of them as they are the real cause of the issue, if it is deemed to be one. As soon as they remain standing it has a knock on effect to the rest of the block. It annoyed everyone of us near the back to be challenged when we don't chose to stand, we are forced to stand to see the game as others obscure or block our views.

I've had no reply to my email after they sent me one so have not been able to enter discussions directly with the club, but the stewards are doing what they have been instructed to by the club.
Hope that helps in expanding on the explanation a bit.

At some teams , not far away from here, half the crowd stand up for the whole game. I stand in the SS and I think it is easier to make some noise standing up. At the last  2 Wembley trips there has been a lot of problems with a mix of Stand up / Sit down fans. Could do with sorting before we go.

It is. But season ticket holders moved for the West Ham game. All there will be in that area now is season ticket holders. It’s never happened ever in that area where the club haven’t sold match tickets. Very odd.
There is a new supervisor apparently who is strict on standing, checking tickets etc. It’s clearly a club policy to not sell tickets in that area but I’m not sure why?

I'm a season ticket holder in that area (East Stand Upper) & this looks like a ramping up of measures.
We had stewards checking tickets as people were going up the steps during Morecambe game so presumably some concern about people switching seats from other areas. Didn't see any attempts to stop standing but the situation there has been pretty consistent for some time now - J Block stand throughout (Upper & Lower) whilst people in other East Stand blocks nearby only stand if they have seats on the top row. I haven't seen people randomly standing in any other blocks to the right of J Block at any stage this season.
There was also an email from the club (don't know whether everyone got this or just those of us located in that area) warning of extra checks & measures aiming at targeting anti-social behaviour. Fair to say it went down pretty badly given the abusive songs J Block were singing throughout the Morecambe game & the stewards seemed to back off from being as visible on Tuesday.
Clearly some enthusiasm on here to strictly police standers but if the reason for this is a complaint received by someone not usually in that area, it seems heavy-handed. If you want to sit, there are plenty of areas in the stadium to do so - this isn't comparable with the away game situation (which penalises anyone wanting to sit down). It also seems hypocritical when standing is implicitly permitted in the away end & the South Stand.
Longer term, I feel the club could do with exploring a safe standing solution - its clearly popular with certain fans so seems logical to get that area established asap & reduce the tension between standing v sitting.

Why is the club not selling tickets in the East stand corner near the away fans?
The area is blocked out for the remainder of the season. I’ve heard stories of stewards being added to the area and being ‘on it’ in terms of reducing the standing fans. Used to be a decent atmosphere here but now you can’t get in. It’s not sold out as not blacked out. An odd decision by the club. People are complaining that the stewards/club are killing the atmosphere in this area.
    Anyone know anymore about this?

The post pointing out that the club might be under investigation or surveillance is probably right. It's against UK Law to stand. Can't blame the club for not wanting to break the Law. Taking action following a complaint may well ensure that home fans in the South and away fans in the SE continue to get to stand without too much hassle.....
