I suppose if they go on a run second half of the season they could give themselves a slim chance at the playoffs and/or carry momentum into next season. They’ve still got 60 points to play for

They would now need to average 2.5 points per game for the rest of the season (current average is only 1.15) to give them 80 points. It would also require Barnsley dropping from 1.88 ppg to 1.55, Stevenage from 1.77 to 1.7 and nonr of the other sides between themselves in 13th and the playoffs improving.
If the target was lowered to 75 points beign enough for 6th place, Barnsley's ppg would hav eto drop to 1.3. To put it another way, those 45 points over their next 20 games would be a better tally than anyone has managed over the last 20 games - both us and Peterborough have picked up 43.

Think it was quite telling that Sibley played in the u21 game at left back this week. Not sure he'd have learnt much in 45mins in an 11-1 win like...

He's our 2nd choice LB/LWB whilst Forsyth is out. Elder is also building up his match fitness so that'll be Sibley's position for now (either starting or as a sub). I wuldn't be surprised if we try to mould him into a wing back for next season too. Midfield's an area Warne will want to strengthen, so I can't see Sibley improving on his already limited game time at AM, so LWB is the best chance of regular football he'll have here.

Surely that would have been the administration and I haven’t got a good word for them or SP for that matter

Technically, Lech could only file a complaint whilst we were in admin, so it could only be resolved after Clowes had bought us out of admin. As of March, Lech were still pursuing the full amount and Quantuma were refusing to talk to them.

This all sounds a bit grim for Reading

    https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/jan/18/reading-implement-drastic-cost-cutting-measures-as-financial-crisis-deepens

Sniffing arround there forum it seems that some worry that there is a danger they might not be able to complete their fixtures and therefore be thrown out of the league. I don't like Reading much but really hope they survive.

To be honest, the only way I see them getting out of it is by their owner putting them in administration. He already owns the stadium and training ground. It means, once the players are sold they'll have absolutely nothing left... other than a massive pile of debt. I think it would take at least £25m for them to be bought out of admin. Would anyone be willing to pay that?

Did we dodge a bullet with Fankaty Dabo then? Suspect Deeney just calls it as he see it. Hard-working player so might set standards some can't, or won't meet. Some stuff best said in private though, unless that option has already been exhausted.

I think he's been dragged down to the poor standard of the other defenders and lost confidence. He's only been singled out because of where he was last season.

Their squad is awful - they'd need 7 new starters to have any chance of staying up.

Why would it be him that's feigning injury? Perhaps Charlton are using the excuse of him being injured so that they have a reason to not play him whilst negotiations are ongoing. If they play him whilst we're in talks, and he gets injured for the rest of the season, then they can't play him and he goes for free in a few months. It's a big risk for them if they're resigned to losing him regardless.

Charlton manager recently said "you have got to treat and respect people that they are giving you a honest answer" in relation to Blackett-Taylor's injury. Interpret that however you want.

They waived the majority of the fee still owing. And it appears Arsenal came to a similar deal regarding Bielek.

There was still an estimated £2.6m due at that point. As they waived 1/3 of the total, that means we still ended up paying about £1.3m last summer (£2.6m total out of an originally agreed £4m)

Warne talked about a striker who is set to sign for another club today who he would have liked to sign if he can’t get his top targets. Only striker I can see it being is Will Goodwin who’s set to sign for Oxford who is going for 400k. We must have some decent funds if he’s the striker he was looking at.

I mentioned him back on page 36:

One to keep an eye on is 21 year old forward Will Goodwin from Cheltenham. Struggled with injuries a bit early in the season, but him starting consistently has coincided with Cheltenham's upturn in results (starting with his assist against us). 6 goals and 2 assists in his last 11 games (836 mins).

Scored and assisted for Torquay when we drew against them in the FA Cup last season as well.

Crowley or Jodi Jones who is also having a very impressive time there. I saw him get 4 assists with great crosses from the left wing in their recent game.

Must be a strong character too hes come back from multiple ACL injuries (a la Fozzy) despite only being mid 20s

Jones will probably follow the manager who went to Swansea

I wonder if it's the lad from Brentford - Olakigbe - came on in the first half of extra time in their cup game vs. Wolves.

I can't see it being a player who only came on for 20 minutes. I can't see a forward who played who we could be looking at either (see Caerphilly Ram's comments)

Doesn't sound like he went to see Moxon then. Wonder if it's a cheeky loan for Dobra with a permanent contract and the end of the season?

I hope not. Doesn't look ready to play higher than NL level.

Just listened to the same clip and found a couple of points interesting. It was a wide player he went to see and a striker recommended to the club also played in the same game and did well, says other clubs are in the mix for them and can maybe offer more in terms of finances and playing time so we have to convince the clubs to loan to us. If it’s loan players that suggests prem or champ clubs right?

You'd expect loans to be from a higher division. The only other option would be a "try before you buy" loan from L1/2, perhaps still with a loan fee. To be honest, I can't see many games where a winger and a forward were both playing and we'd be likely to sign them.

Jason Lokilo (Hull) played on the left wing and scored (can play on the left or right). On the fringes of their squad and mostly used as a sub. Young forwards Sellars-Fleming (Hull) and Donovan (Birmingham) both played - I'd be surprised if we wanted either of those though.

Wigan? McManaman and Jonny Smith started on the wings with Wyke upfront (replaced by Humphrys)

Are we actually skint or we just being mindful of how we spend after the MM fiasco?

There's surely a difference, just struggle to see where the Knight money went (?)

We still have a set budget which we are sticking to. It also costs a lot to run a club our size. The Knight money will have gone towards reducing our losses.
Roughly speaking, minimum costs (excluding players) won't be far off:
Rates, utilities, insurance, police, etc.. - £5m
    Non-playing staff - £4m
Stadium and training ground upkeep - £1.5m

With wages (plus tax and NI) around the £12m mark, those are total costs of £22.5m
I estimated our revenue for this season to be roughly £20m, plus the cash from Bielik and Knight means we'll be very close to breaking even, before we've spent anything on transfer fees.

Just my gut feeling on what warne will choose on Saturday( hence the word think ), of course I could be totally wrong🤷🏻‍♂️

We don't play Mansfield on Saturday 😉

Think you’ve had a drop too much. Don’t think he is anywhere near strong enough defensively, particularly away from home against some of the stronger sides. Can see bookings and sendings off.

He played the full 90 at LB against teams such as Portsmouth, Sheff Weds, Bolton and Charlton last season and only got 1 yellow. 78 minutes against Barnsley (no booking) too. 1 red card in professional football and that was rescinded.

Think warne will put wildsmith back in at Mansfield , he looks the better of the two all round though I believe the little spell out will be good for both keepers

The good news is he's signed an extension, and we know we have Mansfield in the cup next season. The bad news is he doesn't play for the rest of this season. How long have you been able to tell the future?

Wasn’t sure where to post this but in here seems as good as anywhere. The Lads are showing they never give up! And/or they’re super fit! And/or their added quality is telling when other teams tire! And/or they love putting us through a rollercoaster of emotions!

16 goals for and 8 against. Peterborough match our goal difference with 12 vs 4. The next best is Barnsley (12* vs 8.) and Wigan (9 vs 5).

    * The 12th was scored last night

From my experience, the AC has negligible impact on the range. Driving style (going above 58mph, quickly accelerating, late braking) and temperature (cold) result in range dropping off. In the more extreme UK conditions going along the A38 at about 75mph, with quick acceleration off roundabouts, my true range would be about half. In the summer, going to and from work at 50mph I would get my true range.

Even ICE cars are impacted by driving style. Depending on how you currently drive and the car you have, you could probably get an extra 15% more miles out of it if you practice hypermiling - something I grew accustomed to when driving electric. Even on a long distance motorway journey, I wouldn't go above 60mph as it would take longer to get to my destination by going faster and charging on the motorway than it would by going slower and only charging when I arrive at the final destination.

Statistics can be used to say many different things, these show a quite even match slightly in favour of the home team, but what were the stats at ht? We were 4-1 up then, with the game 'won', naturally we go a bit more cautious, unlike against Burton, this drastically reduces our attacking stats in the second half and probably allows a few distance shots from the desperate home team. The stats don't reveal how many of those attempts in the second half really troubled our keeper.

Here's 2 interesting but seemingly contradicting stats, Derby have scored more goals than anyone else after the 75 minute mark, this would suggest that we finish more strongly than anyone else.

On the other hand, if the final whistle had been blown dead on 90 minutes for every game this season, Derby would be 3 points clear at the top and 5 points clear of 'pompy'. This would suggest that Derby don't finish as strongly as 'Pompy' and Bolton, at least.

    First Half
    Possession: 57.3% vs 42.7%
    Shots: 6 vs 7
Shots on target: 2 vs 5
    Corners: 2 vs 3
    Fouls: 2 vs 3

    Second Half
    Possession: 62.0% vs 38.0%
    Shots: 11 vs 6
Shots on target: 4 vs 0
    Corners: 6 vs 6
    Fouls 4 vs 9

How's that Fapetu boy getting on? Assume he's injured since he didn't play against Notts?

He's behind DRobinson in the CM pecking order, and we also wanted to give minutes to Fornah and Thompson in midfield. We tend to use the Central League Cup to give minutes to players needing it. Since Fapetu played the full 90 on Friday, Weston and Hawkins (who didn't play the full game vs Fulham) were the replacements for our 2 senior CMs in the side.

I imagine we'll see Fapetu next Tuesday when we play Lincoln in the same competition. We also play Forest the following Monday, so that'll be a full strength side.

The facts are we signed an aging striker on a free from a struggling Championship club.

Not quite as factual as you think. He cost us nothing upfront (excluding agent fees, signing on bonuses, etc...), but will cost us dependant on clauses. The club statement read "undisclosed agreement", whilst suggestions around the time were a fee being due upon promotion.

I only saw the highlights of the Burton game, but it looked like he had a key involvement in the opening goal and in the creation of a number of other chances. For me, he's sharpe and confident, and I'm glad if he's staying.

Won the flick on for the opener, got a few tackles in high up the pitch which led to a few quick breaks, but struggled in general play, especially with a loose touch. Watching him warm up, his shooting was not to his usual standard either and I had a feeling it would be one of those bad days in the office. We won't see the best of him until he's up to full fitness, but I know there's a talented player with a good touch and finishing once he's got there.

Entitled to your opinion but I think you are totally wrong, being an ex-goalkeeper.

Goal 1 - agree he may have been slightly slow to get down but I think he had the ball covered and would have got something on the ball but for the deflection.

Goal 2 - did everything right. Come out too quickly and too far and the player will chip it over you. If you look at the goal from the camera in the South Stand, he actually gives the attacker more space on his left had side (not the right as you say) , anticipating the attacker will place the ball that side, hence why he went to the left with his feet. Hugill was actually brilliant and placed it to the goalkeepers right. No blame attached at all to the goalkeeper.

I am not sure Derby have a player who could have scored more clinically than Hugill. We do not score very easily from that type of chance. NML chance against Fleetwood was much easier.

My general point was regarding them being 'unstoppable shots', which they weren't.

On goal 2, I was directly in line with the forward and the corner of the goal he shot at - a slightly better angle than what you see in the replays. There was far too much space on the side of the goal where Hugill shot at and I knew all along that was where he was going to place it. Vickers needed to come out to him a little bit later, but then close down the space a lot quicker. By coming out when he did, Vickers left himself in that awkward situation - close down fully and he's chipped/rounded, or stand off and give Hugill all the time in the world to place it where he wanted. He went with option 2.
