RAM1966 got a reaction from Angry Ram in The latest from the club via Chris Coles
My original post seems to have been deleted, which I think tells us all we need to know about what questions will be allowed to be asked or answered by DCFC.  I wonder why there has been so many negative posts about the club deleted, we already know that the Derby Telegraph are on the naughty step.............
Wait until the accounts are all published, I believe that the fans will be up in arms when you realise just how much debt we are actually in.  Lets face it failing to pay the HMRC and the players on time is hardly a resounding vote of confidence as to the state of the clubs finances.  I'll happily have a £100 charity bet loser pays if we are in a better financial state (Debts) than when Mel took over.
Mel Morris who once courted the media has been conspicuous by his absence since it has all; gone wrong!
I'd like to know why was my post deleted, are we too frightened to ask the difficult questions or has a certain moderator been told that certain questions can not be asked therefore deleting them?  My post was made in all seriousness and I'd happily meet Mel and calmly ask him lots of questions, the trouble is, I very mush doubt Mel would like to answer questions about recklessly stewardship of our club, which includes selling our biggest asset the stadium...

RAM1966 got a reaction from jimtastic56 in Poll: Do we fans need a 'pound of flesh' from Mel?
I don't want a pound of flesh, but, what I do want is Mel to stick his hand in his pocket, to leave us in the same state as he found us, because IMO he has ran this club in a reckless manner.
Here are my reasons why I think Mel has failed:
Not understanding a football club and trying to run it like a business (Leadership wise), entering the changing room and rousting the manger and players, drones on moor farm and cancelling the summer training camp.  This pissed the team off and the results tailed off quickly. Not understanding the clubs an failing to run it as a business (Financially), mass over spending, paying inflated transfer fees and wages on average players at best.  Butterfield & Johnson cost £10M, both on high wages and worth a fraction of the fee and salary, which is why they were released at the end of their contracts.  There are numerous other examples, but this set the scene in his early tenure and Derby were labelled as a cash cow! Poor managerial appointments and not giving 'some' managers long enough to build a team, otheres were just woeful appointments.  I won't go through them, but, there were some pretty poor decisions, he sacked McClaren twice and the only reason he was not appointed the manager a 3rd time, is he would have looked an even bigger clown than he does now.  What the hell was Harry Rednapp all about too?  FFS the desperation is there to see!!!!  Finally the massed debt, he should have shown patience, have a go, if it does work stay within FFP rules, do not bend them and they go again at the start of the next 3 year cycle.... Poor communication with the fans, Mel has loved the limelight when its gone well, but, the litmus test is to man up and face the media and the fans when its gone wrong and by god has it gone wrong.  EPIC FAIL.... A couple of good points:
Mel you are one of our own and I thank you for your efforts, you did what you did with the best of intentions at heart, the finance director who advised you (If you followed his advance) should never work again.  Sadly you made a lot of bad decisions, I just hope he does not leave us saddled with debt for the next decade+.  That certainly would not be the actions of one of our own!!!!!!
I'm saving the best till last which is our world class academy, which will hopefully help us produce some world class talent and help us pay off the debts asap.
    UP THE MIGHTY RAMS

You've said it yourself. We gambled. That's the problem. It was no way to run a football club. It was reckless. And now look at us. But I hope you're right, I hope we can rebuild.

Sorry, but look at the state of us. I don't understand how this isn't registering with some people yet.

It's not being a hypocrite. We as fans didn't know all the goings on inside the club. He did. He is the owner, he is responsible. Just because we didn't moan at the time, doesn't mean we can't say anything now. We as fans expect him to run the club properly. He simply hasn't done that.

I do not think that you figures are correct unless I have missed something.
This is what has been filled at companies house:
    15/16 - £14.7M Loss
    16/17 - £7.9M Loss
    17/18 - £14.6 Profit
As the accounts currently stand Derby have posted a loss of £8M over that 3 years FFP period, so unless the restated accounts make us declare more than an additional £31M over this period we should be okay.  You've worked out its a £23M swing, so I believe we are comfortably compliant by around £8M.   Unless of course Gibson's accountant can dig up any more skeletons, I suspect he would have done that by now though!  Or have I missed something?
All that said god only knows what 18/19 and 19/20 accounts are going to look like, nothing left to sell to offset these, although I believe that the wage bill has drastically reduced, so hopefully not too bad!!!
Well done Mel you've maxed out the credit card, now pay in the money you've recklessly spent and sod off, when you get there sod off some more!!!

I imagine he kept his Derby training kit, nobody else will wear it will they, he's just out for a run and why not wear it as he is not working for anyone else.
I wouldn't read anything into it, maybe he has stayed as he is hoping for another job in the UK and its handy living here for meetings and interviews.  I very much doubt he will be coming back to the club, unless he's a match day pundit.
he's clearly a nice an honourable guy, but, never quite got to grips with the English game, its quicker and players press you much quicker, his style of football unfortunately did not suit our team of players.  Its great to keep possession and play out from the back, but you have to have the players with the ability to do it.  Individual errors cost us too many goals with this style of play, which I think ultimately effected confidence and cost him his job.

I don’t think so. The ground valuation and sale is not linked to the amortisation.

The only relevance is that the profit from the sale covered the losses from player values being amortised.

Will love to see what clubs have done this year. Stoke have somehow lost 85M by writing down the value of all their players this year... I assume P and S isn't being enforced this season?
Basically they're doing to opposite and dumping all their value this year to reduce paper losses in the future.
Reading have lost 85M over the past 2 years.
I wonder what side of the fence these owners are on?

According to the guys on here in the know about accounts plus Swiss Ramble and even Maguire think we will be within P&S limits even reverting back to the straight line method. So nothing to fret about ?

Possibly, but, there is one important point to consider, the fact that we do not need to present the restated accounts until the 18 Aug.  I think the independent disciplinary committee have done this for a reason, the season will have already started.  So even if we did not pass P&S rules we would not have the points deduction applied until the current season we are a about to start!!!
Maybe the EFL have pissed the Independent Disciplinary Committee off too, with this circus of a witch hunts.....  They appeal nearly everything, I often wonder why the EFL appointed the committee in the first place!!!!

Then you have contradicted yourself, given the imprecise nature of accounting standards.
If you accept compliance with the law of accounting then you have to accept the occasional practice that makes you think "that's not what I meant" the EFL have decided not to here.
If you want to interpret and then ensure compliance with said interpretation then you have to provide the resources.
What you cannot do is what is happening here, which is to say that the EFL, having not provided any meaningful guidance, has decided there's been a breach of something that they wanted to happen, and is therefore desperate to portray this as a breach of accounting law - which it is not.

I think the issue over amortisation is somewhat a joke. There is no perfect amortisation procedure for anything at all. Only that which is agreed between parties or as specified in a set of rules. Write down machinery, tooling, company vehicles, your personal lap top or player values. It doesn’t matter whether it’s 25% Pa level or some sort of graduation or funny maths. Thing is you just have to agree a system. This isn’t an empirical formula governed by the rules of physics. It’s a specification .. you either meet it or you don’t, or as seems to be the case here, the allowed procedure wasn’t clear or unequivocal. Did we exploit this or were the rules badly drawn ?  .. now that’s a valid question

As the accounts currently stand Derby have posted a loss of £8M over that 3 years FFP period, so unless the restated accounts make us declare an additional £31M we would still be complaint......
I think the EFL are just trying to destabilise the club in anyway they possibly can!!!!
