If MM had to pass the fit to own a club test by the EFL. That would suggest he had the funds to keep the club afloat or the EFL would not have sanctioned his take over.
Ergo, unless he is now destitute he should be held responsible for the debts accrued before any sale/administration takes place.
As he reputedly still has around half a billion then he should step up and pay his dues.

All I know is Mel /Club should have paid the Tax Bill.
Im conflicted by this as I want DCFC to survive.

I-hope HMRC don’t bill DCFC as I think MM needs to have som responsibility for it.
    What a mess.
Have the club paid its share !

So everyone knows HMRC don't mess about, and to pay up all your share of the pie.
If HMRC get a reputation as a soft touch, they stand to lose more than if they make an example of the first club that looks like it'll not fulfil it's tax obligations.

Cooperative? Surely we don't still owe them anything? ?

This is so right. Unlike other businesses, our only assets are players. A 'normal' liquidated business would sell off material assets to pay off HMRC.
But if we are liquidated players become free agents. No opportunity to pay anyone anything.
The only option is to come to an agreement.
It potentially becomes a game of chicken. How hard would the creditors (mainly HMRC) push things, knowing if they push too hard they get nothing.

I totally agree that’s why with the new HMRC rules we are in a mess if they want all the money.

The only saving grace is if we go into liquidation the HMRC get 100 percent of nothing .
The meeting between administrators and HMRC will be difficult as outcome could have effect on the local economy if we are in liquidation and HMRC get nothing

New owners with big pockets is the only answer I’m afraid.

Hoping for the best as a fan.

PS I hope MM pays off some of the debt though particularly HMRC

Derby County, although apparently he can't sue us while we are in administration. Silver lining?

    Not Steve’s fault at all.

I remember the. fans forum at Telegraph pub in Derby I think it was with Simmo ,Steely and Steve just after he took over from Nigel and fans welcomed them.

Nigel had a difficult task at Derby with finances and rebuilding the team after was it the 11 point season !
He did a great job but his football wasn’t always respected by fans but he had a great record against Forest and Leeds.
He would argue he was still in the building stage when Mac arrived.

    Im waffling .
But as I say Steve is helping Derby now IMO in difficult times for the club

Unfortunately we don’t always know the facts and we get preconceived ideas about Mac.
He did get sidetracked by the Newcastle thing as did Lampard about Chelsea  but at the end of the day Steve has been more loyal than Frank IMO .
Nigel obviously felt pushed out by Derby when he was building a good team but Mac created something special with mostly Nigels players.

In retrospect NC did a great job at Derby .
Football clubs all have history that’s often forgotten in the present.
Fans can be fickle including myself but that’s football.

Look how many love Rooney now !

Your not waffling at all. I dont usually comment on this forum, just like reading the very witty comments some people post but had to have a small operation so had to isolate, so had time on my hands. Will be going back to reading it now, getting to serious for me?
