I will die on the hill that Carson is only seen as a good  goalkeeper because Rowett set up two lines of defence in front of him. Keepers look good when defences don’t leak chance after chance! See also our spine in the 13/14 season. Grant was good because Keogh, Buxton and Eustace/Thorne we’re immense in front of him

    Wednesday fan here.
Joe Wildsmith first broke into the first team at a very young age about 5/6 years ago when Kieran Westwood got injured.
It was the season we got to the playoff final and Joe was very impressive when he played for us, tipped by many to have a bright future in the game.
Since then we have had a whole host of managers, the side has got progressively worse and when he has played in recent seasons, he’s had a pretty woeful defence protecting his goal. As such his confidence has taken a bit of a battering and he has made the odd error.
That said, if he can get a run of games at Derby and you can get him anywhere near what he was like a few seasons ago, he’ll be a very capable a league 1 keeper for you this season.
Also he’s still relatively young for a goal keeper.
Best of luck to you with the takeover, really hope you can get things sorted and start to move forward as a club again.

Joe is a good keeper, better than Dawson who we have kept IMHO but a bad injury and dodgy defence seemed to rock his confidence,  he needs to rebuild his career.

    Good luck to him

Hilarious how fans rubbish players without probably never have seen them play, or at least not often enough.
Anyone who saw Allsops' first couple of games would gladly have shown him the door yet he turned out to be more than decent.

Only a couple of weeks following his release from Hull. He had a year off essentially after leaving us as we wouldn’t/couldn’t extend his deal on what he was being paid. Eventually Hull offered him an opportunity by which point he must have lowered his wage expectations by quite a bit.
I haven’t actually seen a solid link to Huddlestone so is this more speculation than anything? He’s good mates with Curtis and Rosenior from their time at Hull I believe and has ties to the club and area of course so can see why people might think/suggest it.
I still think he could do a job for us if you sat him in the middle of the park with younger, more mobile players around him (Bird, Thommo). However he is one I would have far lower down the list to look at of all the options out there and players actually linked to us in the papers so far.
EDIT - can see others have commented similar about his time at Hull so ignore them bits ?

    Oh totally.
thats the big thing we should be looking at as an opportunity.
With both leicester and forest in the prem more than likely looking abroad and higher up the footballing tree (no pun intended) for players we have a massive selling point to any talented local footballer.
the v v real chance of football league football and a chance to air those talents in a first team envirmoment.
the accademy is cat 1 and already has an amazing reputation.. even in our situation as u say all those prem cast offs looking for that second chance should be climbing over each other to join us. We represent a dream opportunity in that respect

Pp holds (along woth the bbg) some of my happiest and strongest memories with my late dad and to lose that place to go that i can feel that bit closer to him for 90 minutes would have broken me.
to lose derby county would have been a body blow too much for me.. so mr clowes… and the 1000s of u fans that stood up to be counted in our hours of need an eternal thankyou.

Woke up this morning and had to pinch myself to check this was real. I'm not Derby born. I don't have family who have lived,  breathed and died Derby.  But reading through these comments and reflecting on how I felt last night drives home how much of a part this club plays in my life.
My wife sadly doesn't do sport.  She doesn't really get it. But even she was empathetic as this morning as I got emotional all over again reading your comments, recounting how Ed completely lost it on live radio, how other so-called fans had gloated over essentially the ruin of someone's life.  I'm so, so grateful to Clowes. We have a club. We live to fight another day.  Whoever you are. Wherever you are. We are ALL Derby.

Thought about this quite a bit recently, the father son thing that is often mentioned on here. I did wonder yesterday whether our heroic new and reluctant owner thought to himself at some stage  - what would Dad have done ?
Anyway, the morning after the night before: It’s funny how you only really know how you feel about some things once they have happened. Waking up under DC ownership is like lying in a warm bath - there’s a feeling of security, that you’re in good hands. Do I wish big Mike had stepped in? No thanks. You’d constantly be in that moment immediately before the grumpy old doctor grabs your testicle and asks you to cough, the one with cold hands who squeezes just a bit too hard
