I posted a version of this in the match thread but it belongs here I think. I'm Warne out, I have been all season really. Even in our run of form performance levels were frequently poor and we rarely look like a team in control of a football match.
The simple fact is Warne thinks he can approach the Derby job with good vibes and percentage based kick and rush football down the flanks that offers little control. There's not really any nuance to it and any manager with half a brain can figure it out and counter it.
Despite the above, we have brute forced a number of wins by having better players and a bigger budget than the opposition. If we get promoted we won't have better players and a bigger budget than the opposition. What do we do then?
I maintain that a manager with a more advanced approach to football and how to set a team up would extract better performances out of this team, and the deficiencies I see in Warne's approach will only become more of a problem as time goes on.

Happy clappers may not be the right term because it’s naturally divisive but there was, rightly or wrongly, a significant number of posts on our good run sneering at any one who dared to question the manager or want him gone during the highs of defeats to Shrewsbury and Stevenage, as if good results masking at times sub par performances does anything to convince people who have long term doubts about the manager.
Performances being less than convincing even during good runs is a large part of why he has been questioned, certainly by me anyway.
In most games we get by because we have better players than the other team. I don’t see a huge amount of the effects of good coaching, I don’t see many tactical tweaks that gain us an edge. We look like a team who have a bigger budget than the majority of teams at this level, and not much else. I think our manager’s level is about where we are now, which worries me.
But alas he is here to stay.

Dreadful performance. I don’t even know where to start, so won’t bother, but I will say I feel for the fans that went tonight.
The last few weeks have been rotten to watch, performances have been really bad. Too much emphasis on results, rather than performances have seemingly led us down the wrong path. Standards need to be so much better than they currently are.
I’m still very much concerned that the people currently employed by the club don’t have the necessary skillset to achieve long-term. The recruitment and coaching is miles off where it needs to be, for me. I have no doubt that even if we did get promoted this season, we would be in for a long season next year which is a niggling thought that I can’t shake.
Obviously nothing I can do to change the decisions the club make so I’ll continue to support (and moan) as it plays out. I hope I’m wrong, honestly, because I want success for Clowes and I’d like Derby to be seen as a relevant football team on the national stage again.

It’s a totally brainless comment from him in my opinion. Why would you do that unless you accepted that your own midfield was crap !? And if that’s so, then why not look to strengthen that as your priority!?
All the good teams build from a strong midfield - I am seriously wondering about his tactical nous. His one trick/game plan is pass it out wide and cross into the box. It’s frankly pathetic imho.

Warne for not the first time this season stating that they actively chose to bypass the midfield. In a game that we were looking to go top of the league against a team 4th from bottom.
Tactically clueless and utterly no faith in your central midfield players

I'm calling to sack Warne. He's obviously got no idea how to extract consistent performances out of this squad and either thinks the way we play is fine, or he doesn't know how to change it. Not sure which of those options is more concerning to be honest.
Even on our great run of form we only ever looked truly convincing a few times. Performances have, in the main, been rubbish for a majority of the season.

Sorry but everything to do with Warne, they're an utterly confused team and it shows. We know what Cash and Bird can do, it's down to numbnuts to keep them at it

This is Paul Warne's ceiling, top few of L1. I've been optimistic almost every season for years but this bloke drags me down. It's miserable football that belongs in the lower leagues.

The team are not coached to have any control. Another midfielder will not help if Warne continues to employ the tactics he wants us to play football.
I say football. It’s pinball. Players must be being encouraged to move it as forward as quickly as possible, taking no more than 3 touches. Chaotic, gas out type football.
I thought we might go up with our squad automatically, even with him in charge. I am beginning to think not.

I think Chris Powell had a bit of a shaky start for us. I only really remember that because I was working in the office at the Baseball Ground on Matchdays and I took a call from someone at Southend United who assured me that he was going to be a really good player for us and  asked me to pass on a message to him.
For the avoidance of doubt I'm not saying Elder is the next Chris Powell but I think we need to see more before we completely write him off.

Blimey Eddie - you seem to be comparing our team with some untrained Second World War heroes who took on the Nazi's with a spade and a fork.
I accept the team are gutsy and of great character. Management too. However, when you describe them as a bunch of shoestring-budget journeymen and kids you lose me.  We are in League 1, which consists almost entirely of shoestring-budget journeymen and kids.  In my opinion our bunch (squad) of shoestring-budget journeymen and kids are the strongest in the league. I can't personally think of another squad I would swap with. Peterboro or Bolton perhaps, but I really doubt it.
I said at the start of the season that with our squad, in what is a weak league, we should and must finish top two. I also said that in spite of Warne we should achieve it. I still think we will, but I really can't say the team has improved much in terms of playing controlled football this season.  I opt to watch less these days, and my last 3 watches have been Stevenage, Peterborough and Burton. In none of those games have we shown any decent game management. We just seem so open at times in a desire to go toe to toe. It'll probably work if we pick up a couple of decent players this window, but will we get them? Of the 12(?) players we bought in the summer how many have been useful, and improved the team and its footballing quality. Nelson, Nyambe and perhaps Wilson.
Overall I am happy we have another 3 points, and I can't wait for promotion, which I will celebrate like everyone. But lets not think we are achieving results as some plucky underdog. We are better than that, and Warne needs to cut out the mistakes he is making - see @Caerphilly Ram's viewpoint on his weaknesses above. He should also ensure he buys/prioritises a good midfielder to support Bird and Hourihane.

Doesn’t change the fact that Warne’s game management was abysmal and should have made that change significantly earlier. We were fortunate to win tonight, he said as much himself. We shouldn’t have needed to be.

Well after a night’s recovery time I have managed to haul myself back up the steep slope of disappointment to the level where I am merely absolutely hacked off with last night’s offering.
Firstly, there  are a lot criticisms of Collin’s first half performance, but in reality he was hardly given the ball. We had reverted to the early season’s “lump it in the air either to defenders who are all taller than Collins, or out to the far touchline”. I thought we’d grown up since then, but apparently not.
Secondly there are criticisms that our youngsters in midfield didn’t stake their claim for a starting place. But how could they? - see the previous paragraph. I said it earlier, but about the only time we got the ball down and played football with it we got that peach of a cross from Sibley and Thommo’s shot that was blocked. At least those two tried to do something positive with the ball, when nobody else did in the first half. Their reward was to be subbed, probably because they weren’t running around aimlessly enough.
And the goal - Ward didn’t make any attempt at all to head the ball. He merely tried to stick his backside into his opponent to hinder him, which is either a coward’s way of defending, or simply lazy. Waghorn used to do it when he was our target man. He virtually never won headers for our crosses because he was too busy bumping into his opponent.
The players regularly not turning up is dien to the coaching staff. The players should be willing to bleed or even die for the shirt, but they don’t. And if Warne doesn’t like the term “Warneball”, then he should stop the players resorting to it.

I don’t care if it’s a tinpot cup we shouldn’t be losing at home to teams like Crewe and Bradford. When players put on the Derby shirt they should play with pride and passion.
