An episode of premature ejaculation not seen since the days of Baywatch.
Even Wayne himself would feel embarrassed by such a thread.
We are on a fantastic run, winning games against the odds, and building momentum - all of which Rooney deserves credit for.
But we have 22 games to play and so much work left to be done.
If Rooney really wants to go down as a legend here, nights like tonight have to be the start, not the crowning moment.

I was laughed at, and probably still would be for suggesting he's the Championship manager of the season but I stand by it. Nobody comes close.
Name me a manager that with his experience, at this level with the embargos, administration, unpaid wages, you name it, name me a manager that has been able to assemble a squad of freebies and academy players and put this much fight up in the face of a 21 point deduction.
He's doing quite simply an incredible job and deserves every bit of credit that comes his way, throughout all this poo he's been the leader with unbelievable class that has allowed us all to be proud of this club.
Not a manager in the world I would swap him for right now, remember the name, Wayne Rooney, this kid is going to the top.

Goodbye 2021, without a deduction this team made up of freebies and academy players would be 13th in the Championship, just 8pts off the top 6.
    Build the Rooney statue now.
First job in management, everything he's had to deal with, incredible job he's doing. ???

I certainly am not in the camp of "any other manager would be 20 points ahead" ,it is what it is but for some to imply Rooney is doing a brilliant job under the circumstances and is improving as he goes along, anybody in a job 12 months should be better than when they started. i just think he is in the wrong job at the wrong time as a rookie manager.

I don't get the point in the first place?
Curtis was already with us and he was resigned because we had no one else to replace him...certainly no super talented loans from clubs in awe of Wayne and his coaching methods.

I'm not commenting on if its fair Roy,it's this fantasy about him bringing in quality because of his name which just hasn't happened.
When it does then cry it from the rooftops but at the moment it's just basically not true.

Lol,the op was stating just how attractive Rooney's name was and he was attracting major talent to the club..
My point was that he isn't and that he needs the same budget as any other club to do so....his name hasn't been the big draw that some believe.

Who exactly has Rooney attracted with his pulling power?
Lamps did during his time but I fail to see who Rooney has over any other lower championship manager?
Re Mac,I still think he'd grab the chance if it was offered.

Rooney fitted in well with Kirchner as he is well known in the US, this would also have raised Kirchners profile over there. The new owners might not want the club in the media spotlight especially as it seems to be for the wrong reasons.
I am not getting into the discussion of whether Rooney has been getting better, when you have been in the position for a year anybody should be doing better.

You can laugh as much as you like Roy but if they have previous ownership credentials i very much doubt they will see a rookie manager  on high wages as the way to take the club forward. More likely go for a pair of safe hands and no don't ask me who,i have no idea.

Thompsons brand new from the academy so I'd expect his performances to be very much attributable to the academy's management at this stage of his career (as with many of our academy products, bravo to the coaches there),similarly plange who has had one game to be fair under Rooney's proper stewardship.
Ebosele I would say has gone backwards this season...in pre season he looked electric bit since then has rarely started a game and become a bit of a super sub to little effect, which is a little disappointing as he should be started every game i.mo and developing at a more rapid rate.
The only one I will certainly give you is bird who has improved this year, mind you,not before time with the talent he has in abundance.
As for Sibley,I'd love to see what a more attacking minded manager such as Mac would have done with him after his epic performances under Cocu for that brief window pre COVID,he's been absolutely wasted under Rooney when he should have developed into a real star.I expect him to do very well elsewhere to be honest which is very sad for a true black and white supporting player.

Bird is playing to a similar level as he did under Cocu (alongside Rooney)  so that could be more a case of him getting back to a certain standard after a drop.
The other 3 have taken their opportunity to play and performed well, but that's not necessarily evidence of Rooney improving them because we've seen no prior first team performances to judge them against  - he could have improved them, or it could be down to them maturing a bit and their experiences/coaching with the U23s and transferring it to first team football, or both, or neither.
It's impossible to prove, but I'd agree he's handled those players very well.
Its a bit like saying Cocu improved Sibley though because he came into the team and made an impact, but looking at Sibley now has he really improved as a player?
    More data needed, I think.
