The odds on Barnsley seemed too good to turn down based on relative home and away records so stuck 50 quid on them, you can all thank me at full time…

HoracioCarbonara reacted to Caerphilly Ram in Lee Buchanan - Gone to Werder Bremen
People are blinded by their fandom at times. He has done his job and contributed to the team over the last couple of years. He now has an opportunity to go and play abroad in a league at far higher standard than the one we find ourselves in and probably be paid a lot more than we can offer to do so. Plenty of employees leave jobs for new opportunities, especially if the last couple of years under their employer has been a nightmare with the business coming close to going bust and not operating at the levels it was previously able to. For some reason football clubs and their fans view this situation differently.
He could have agreed the deal with Bremen in January and caused disruption to the squad similar to when Festy agreed his deal, but he didn’t. What would we all be saying if Buchanan had agreed a transfer in January, looking to secure his future in the face of ongoing uncertainty with Derby? Would he get the same well wishes then that Festy has? What if then the takeover had happened, and we looked to trigger his extension and took legal action to cancel his agreed deal with Bremen and keep him at the club against his wishes?
He’s moving on to an exciting opportunity in his career, in my view there’s simply no need for any of the spite I’ve seen towards the lad. If he was joining Forest then maybe I’d understand it a bit more ??‍♂️

The collective trains of thought that run through these threads could keep cognitive  scientists in work for years.
From some speculation that the ‘issue’ is ‘something’ to do with Moor Farm - nobody knows what - the thread has gone on to conclude that Moor Farm is going to be a housing estate (why - seemingly because Erewash councillors are all Forest fans!?!?), we’ve then moved on to Clowes wanting to develop Moor Farm (why - because he’s a developer, so stands to reason right), then - as a result of these nailed on certainties - we’ve moved on to identifying alternative locations for a training ground, moving existing businesses, without any consideration for the costs of such things, the time it would take to achieve, whether the businesses want to move, where they’d move to etc and then onto all our yesterdays and how it was all wonderful before anybody built industrial and retail units on an industrial estate and retail park and they should have left it as fields (not that it was) or railway sidings (which would have been unused) or should have turned it into parkland (where does all the industry go… fields?). And then we have some moaning about traffic in Pride Park… all from ‘the remaining issue is something to do with Moor Farm’.
Fascinating really. Proving the rule that nature abhors a vacuum.

I just think he came back after his hols to be told by the administrators that he couldn't sign any players as we're still in administration and all his plans and hard work talking to players over the summer were blown away in that moment.
He probably decided there and then he didn't need another season of that sort of s*** and quit on the spot.
I don't blame him and all this talk of Dyche and tried and trusted League One managers is all just the same. Who is going to come here under the circumstances?
Some of you need a reality check.

Cool, I advise on transactions that often involve TUPE, I don’t pretend I can advise on the legal aspects of that as it’s not my area of expertise so I leave it to the professionals. Maybe you’re trying to make the same point, but ultimately the process is to ensure an employee is protected not the employer. A lot of people seem to be trying to spin it to suit their position. It looks as I was trying to single you out as the way I quoted meant it was just your message, I took more offence to the person you were responding to but my whole point is everyone is going round in circles when no one knows the specifics…

Can I just say most people here have zero idea about complex corporate transactions, to put it it in context and need to just calm down.

    1. I recently advised on a £120m deal, it closed over 2 months ago, the deal has happened but I can’t raise my invoice because our AML checks are dragging, to reiterate the deal has happened and im still having issues!

    2. if you are negotiating a deal more often than not you will agree exclusivity which means legally you cannot engage with any other parties, hence Q only started talking to other parties yesterday.

corporate deals are complex, most of the people commenting have zero idea and there is nothing you can say or do that will alter the process. Like most people here I’m fan and I understand the emotion but just chill, you can’t change anything and as much as you want to think everyone is messing this up, it’s a difficult deal and I’ve seen far worse, just less emotion because there were no fans involved.

Unfortunately they will deal with what they are given…I deal with relatively simple transactions (just advised on a multi-hundreds of millions one) they’re not straight forward and they take time and every day throws up a new issue. They’re not buying a Mars Bar…
