I dnt think Davies has actually done anything wrong, I think to much was put on him when he first joined as he was branded a dead ball specialist, when u got 25,000 people expecting u to do the unknown every time the ball is a free kick or corner I expect the pressure gets to u, especially when u have stepped up a gear, if we get off people's backs then maybe things will happen from them,

B4 is a hater of him and that's his opinion but I personally think he no worse than everything else we have had on the right side of midfield, n we have stopped scoring yet he creates goals, do we need Danny Pugh?? No I dnt think we do

there is another reason he should his performance got worse and worse and his free kicks eathier went high or wide to short or to long he never hits the target if he hit the target 9 times out of 10 i would not mind as much if some went over, but all his free kicks are poor and corner kicks as well.

What is deemed as a good corner? 1 that finds a player but doesn't lead to anything? 1 that is in a dangerous area but not anyone? I don't think our movement/placings when we have a corner is very good and if the ball is put in a dangerous area nobody is there to score and if you find a player they aren't in a good enough position to score. We could have the best set piece taker in the world and our corners would still be rubbish and not score from them.

Surely a good corner is one put into a dangerous position? Once you have that even if there is ***** movement you still have a better chance then if the ball doesnt beat the first man or is smashed over the box. Plus with Barker and Shackell up there we have a decent areal threat, both of them have scored a few from corners before.

True but if we don't have a player near it then it is easy for the defenders. How many have we scored from this season? 1st goal of the season and against donny, from memory. That's not good enough.

I can't remember the last time I saw us take a free kick (other than a direct shot on goal) or a corner where it appeared that we had some sort of plan. Set pieces have become like the rest of our play - all hit and hope - hoof the ball into the box and hope that someone can get on the end of it. I don't have any expectation that we might score when we get a corner and I wonder why Barker and Shackell bother crossing the half-way line - and that is not criticism just of them, but of the whole team and in particular the management who could at least try to employ some sort of tactics.....

How many goals have we scored from set pieces this season?? I remember Shackell vs birmigham, but can't really think of any others although i'm sure there are a few.

Ben Davies was when playing regularly one of the top playmakers in the division was joint top with Snodgrass for a lot of the time, and he put very dangerous balls into the box but we didn't have a striker to put them in on a regular basis otherwise could of been much higher and would of been seen as much more valuable.

People don't like Ben Davies for the style of play, it depends on the players around him as his main point is to pick out a pass, that relies on the movement of the players around him, he doesn't run at players like Ward does and that is the whole reason Derby fans don't like him, his head dropped and the fans couldn't wait to jump on his back because of the start of his Derby career, he has already been judged.

I've always been a fan of Ben Davies because creates a lot more than anyone else in our team, including Ward. Nigel should of stuck with him, lets hope he is match fit because we could do with him... badly!

I think on the topic of Ben Davies, he worked best when Steve Davies was in the team. I remember the game v Millwall, the first half goals were them linking up before finding a man in space (Bryson and Hendrick I believe). The third goal was a superb move culminating in a good Steve Davies finish (and was one of the top five goals of 2011, if you can still find the video). I think if Ben is to be brought back in, so does Steve.

On the topic of Marc Pugh, I was excited when I heard this rumour in Jan. A creative midfielder who can play across the middle, and up front? Bring him in Clough! Put him on the right, our creativity is too lopsided atm, defenders go after Ward because that's where the threat is.
