Me to, but its in the past. Taking 20 minutes to go to the bog then having to fight your way back to your place, having to get to the ground at 1:30 so you get a decent view. Keep it.

Fully agree pal but I have a feeling you may have skipped a few pages of this thread before posting!!

Safe standing is completely different to the old terrace. Again I would advise anyone unsure to please have a look at the FSF website or www.safestandingroadshow.co.uk

The 3 points you raised above would not occur with safe standing.

I liked pods,I also liked standing.Standing also gives you the opportunity to move away from annoying fans talking/shouting nonsense.I wish I could do that at the moment where I sit.

Couldn't agree more. I'm having a major problem at the mo with an imbescile who sits in front of us. On Satdeh, when we wern't at our best, it has to be said - he went into moan overdrive.

Swearing, well ott in my opinion, with 2 seven year olds sat behind him. Good one.

Clapping everytime we gave away possession, like a demented seal he was.

Basically complaining that anyone on the pitch in a white shirt didn't deserve to breathe basically and they are all a bag o *****.

Now I'm the type of person who says live and let live - but he was just too much, so I'm gonna inform a steward I think. I don't want to but he's so, so bad.

If he's going to behave like that, he should piss off and go and sit in the away end, cos at one point I really thought he was a Hull fan. He's not though.

What a pratt, everyone around him noticed it - except him. 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/angry' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

But...we HAVE a fully functioning all seated stadium, so, if we change an area to "safe standing area" this is going to cost money, and the people who have got to absorb this has GOT to be those using the new standing area, hence it has to be more expensive to stand.

For me, standing belongs in history, it was great in the day, but then again so was a back perm, pods and farahs...and you can keep them too..

Hers's a pic of Muespach on his first match in C stand. The tight farahs were too graphic for a family forum 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' /> 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

I thought their website showed numbered standing spaces though, if that's the case then you can't move around, you have to stand where your ticket tells you.

I'd think the police will insist on this anyway so they can check who's where if there's any trouble.

Exactly, the "safe standing" is just the same as havin an allocated seat, except the bit you park your bottom on is missing, there is no moving around, so, if you are sat next to someone you don't like now, it would be exactly the same except you would be stood next to them.

no, it coincided with better police techniques into dealing with it, price rises, cctv being introduced etc, while seating may have had a small part in it, i somehow doubt it was the contributing factor.

I'd say was a contributing factor, even if not the main one.

Another thread on this forum talks of the good old BBG days, when you could pay in one end and walk to another - so you could pay in one end, and walk round to get close to the away end and cause bother.

You can still make standing safe and not allow supporters to walk around the ground like you used to be able to, but I do think the fact you can't choose who to walk up to and knock out is a big factor in the drop in football violence.

and Uttox - whatever happened to skin tight Farrah's? If Dav had some o them now he'd look ridiculous. But funny though 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

but with the police techniques and cctv, i think that even with being able to move about football violence would have gone down because the cctv and the police would have tracked them and detained them.

There's different types of modern standing areas being used, as has been explained already, so in some cases the areas may well be given numbered spaces, others may not.

I couldn't give a **** if my ticket has a number where i'm supposed to stand anyway, there's no chance it'll get taken notice of, just like now (away from home especially) it's just a case of piling in at the back at every game i've been to. Besides, I don't think "moving away from the ******** next to you" is one of the points the campaign is putting forwards - it's neither a positive or a negative. Chances are the standing spaces will be unreserved which will work just like unreserved seating.

Anyway, why do people put up with ********* next to them? Just tell them to shut the f**k up, or get behind the team and drown them out.

I sat next to the most racist person I have ever met at the Burnley game. The only things he said all game were all aimed towards Theo and way out of line.

you should have said something, at the forest game someone was making monkey noises and racist comments until i asked him to stop it, he was very drunk and basically insulted me all match. I hate scumbags like that, they ruin the game and give us all a bad name.
