So basically Goddard and Saunders were more effective

Some greatness doesn't linger for long, yet is forever memorable, as in the case of for instance

Aljoša Asanović

That's a fatuous statement.

It's like saying that Roger Davies is Derby's most effective player ever because over the space of 7 days between March 22 and March 29 1975, he scored all 7 goals we bagged against Newcastle and Luton - 7 goals and 2 wins that were vital in winning our second League Championship.

I wrote that mainly as a tease, grumpy one.

However, now that I consider wider usage and determining factors on variable definitions of effectiveness in other areas of sport, such as boxing, I can semi seriously examine an example of two fighters, both with 12 wins from 12 fights, where one wins all fights with a knockout in the first 3 rounds, while the other wins all his fights on points.  Which one is more effective?  If the two subsequently met in the ring, I know which one I would consider likelier to win, albeit acknowledging that such a stance is subjective, as is the case, one can possibly argue, with most opinions of stats in football.

Fun fact part of his transfer fee was paid in footballs and because we had signed Penney , Arthur Cox decided we had enough forwards and didn’t sanction the buying of Ron Jukes recommendation Steve Bull.

The great Colin Todd, who I had the pleasure of seeing in Denmark when he managed Esbjerg a few years ago. Unfortunately a 5.1 home defeat to FCK meant the end to his management career was nigh. Great player, but i was too young to see him in his prime.
