Shame, but he really can't handle the pressure - the more Max wins, the more the pressure and the more mistakes he makes. He's a talented driver, but he's out at RB unless he seriously ups his game...

Yup, all went horribly wrong as soon as he got ideas about the title.

The thing is there's still enough time in the season to save himself but yesterday just gave it such a "yeah, this guy's done" vibe.

Well done to: Lewis, Mclarens, Alpha Romeos.

I think Danny Ric gets a thumbs up out qualifying Yuki in his first go.

Perez at least didn't soil himself in qualifying but P9 is hardly impressive. Going to be interesting to see him and Fernado at the start.

For saying this track used to have (still has?) a bad reputation, it's thrown up some interesting races and hopefully tomorrow will be one. If Max can get swamped in traffic on a track with not so many places for the DRS drive by, perhap, just perhaps.

I knew Zhou would do that. I called it to my Mrs. I said he'll be out or off or something by turn 1.

Alpine getting the afternoon off but doing nothing wrong. I expect Ocon to get a penalty for leaving the earth's surface.

How did Hamilton lose so much time? It killed his podium but I don't understand how he lost it? Sure McLaren had strong pits and were going well but he lost 9 seconds and rising! 1 more lap though and Perez might have been sweating.

Apparently Hamilton had to spend a lot of the race managing engine temp and cooling. He'll be disappointed to not be on the podium for sure.

I'm baffled Perez got driver of the day,he did fine but there were more impressive drives for my money, both Lando and Georgie boy did more, particularly Lando who had to eak his tyres out to the end to secure P2.

The return of the honey badger was good, hard to say how it would've been without getting a turn 1 love tap, but enough in it to suggest he's woken up from his McLaren nightmare. I'm not going to pencil him into next year's red bull just yet, but clearly there's hope for the Danny fans.

I'm starting to wonder if netflix are just paying Ferrari to do these things at this point (then I remember they're Ferrari, and todt/brawn/Schumacher apart, they've always been like this)

Yeah I thought Perez getting driver of the day was a joke. 9th to 3rd in the same car that Max won by 30 seconds. It's just pretty much as expected. Some of the overtakes were nice but Lando or Russell as you say.

You were right saying Aston Martin would drop away. Stroll really struggling now. I thought he might get a podium this season. Not looking good

Can't wait for Spa. Sprint weekend too so big haul for McLaren? Maybe half the gap to Ferrari?

RadioactiveWaste watched about an hour of thee race and just got totally bored. When Hamilton won his World Championships with Mercedes at least he had competition from Rosberg and Vettel. Verstappen has no competition at all. Enjoy watching the rest of the season but I for one will not bother watching another race this season. PS really happy for Lando though.

That's ok,I don't blame you at all.

It's a shame the red bull is so far ahead in Max's hands because if it wasn't it'd be a hell of a good season given how everything behind him is unfolding. However, it is a non competition because max clears off into the sunset each race.

Ultimately, the field will close up, but I doubt it will be this season.

I'm also disappointed in how the cost cap punishment has clearly not done anything.

Yup, I'm afraid that I switched off and walked away after maybe 20 laps. It's a shame as there are occasionally some fairly interesting battles behind Verstappen but yet again it was just a procession from the front and tight battles for 10th place are just not holding my attention. Other than mechanical failure which seems unlikely, or someone taking him out then I just can't see anything other than Verstappen winning every race that's left by a country mile. Even him being taken out seems unlikely because he's usually at the front and pulling away by the first corner. At least we had a first corner challenge this time but then Max hits the front and that's game over.

It's not his fault the whole Championship 'race' is as dull as dishwater but that is the reality at the moment. It's just embarrassingly easy.

When I was kid, I went to a few Hot Rod meetings (old saloons with tuned engines and roll cages on an oval track) - to make the racing more interesting, they used to start in reverse order so the main man (a bloke called Barry Lee in an Mk 1 Escort with a gold-painted roof aas seen in the picture) started at the back of the grid - he nearly always made it through to the front by the end of the race, but it certainly added something to the excitement....perhaps they should try that with Max....

Reverse grids work in other forms of racing but I don't really want to see them in F1, it's the ultimate technical stadnard of motor racing and it's the job of everyone else to catch up and beat RBR/Verstappen.

I remember loathing the Ferrari/Schumacher early 2000s so hard, but it wasn't their fault no one could touch them (although i did resent the FIA's "Ferrari International Assistance" attitude) and it needed Alonso and the mass-damper technical innovation to up the game and when they were kocked off it was so go.

I don’t really want reverse grids - just for Max to start from the back 🤪
