4! (factorial 4)= 4 * 3 * 2 * 1 = 24

3! (factorial 3) = 3 * 2 * 1 = 6

I was wrong anyway - senility kicked in early.

(32 + √4) * 1 = 34

I’ve never heard of a factorial before, that is a cheeky trick. I like the square route solution though (I’m almost as impressed by the fact you know where the square route key is, I’ve not got a clue).

I like this challenge, I’m going to give it a go.

I’m sure some of you have heard of this, but for those who haven’t - https://missing11.com/who-are-ya/

it’s the wordle of football - guessing a mystery player. Plays in one of the top 5 leagues, and is usually a fairly big name (so not likely to be a reserve player for Real Betis). Similar format to wordle - you get 8 guesses of the blurry picture that gets gradually clearer,  telling you if league, club, nationality, position and age are correct.

Aaaaaahhhhh!!! It got me.

I hate these ones - it's not skill, or intelligence. Pure luck

I got it in 6 because I picked the right one of the two remaining words it could be - meh

Can someone point me to the daily wordle that seems to be screenshotted (I just made that word up, and no red line, so I'm leaving it in!  Ha, Ha!).

I've got a similar game app on my phone, but if we're all going to be doing the one above, I'd hate to miss out!

I copied and pasted it (although Alt + 251 will work in Excel, and unicode U+251A elsewhere). Unusual for me to try the simple solution first. For instance, I was racking my brains just now trying to come up with a solution for 55. It had two factorials in the solution. I had completely overlooked 42 + 13.

I'm led to believe that it's possible to also do 1-100 just using four 4's.

I love the challenge of puzzles, especially mathematical ones, and that's what first dragged me in the direction of Mensa 40-something years ago. I can blame the Derby Evening Telegraph for that - they published a puzzle competition, the first prize being a Sinclair Scientific calculator, a free Mensa test and the first year's membership fee.

Bloody Hell, @Eddie, you're gonna be to blame when I go doolally!

That was awfully confusing at first!  I nearly gave up before I started!  ?

Still, got there in the end!  And now I think I may become hooked!

Good job there's only one of each per day!   ?
