Cocu was reported in The Mail to be on circa what Rooney is currently earning. Allegedly.

Lampard would have been on nowhere near that figure as allegedly Morris was going to offer him an increased wage of £2.5 million p/a if he didn't go to Chelsea which is about 50k per week.

So it seems you don't get owt for nowt.

There's a huge disparity between what Rooney is on allegedly and what Lampard was on allegedly given that they were both novice managers.

If Rooney is on circa 90k a week then Lampard was on less than half that.

What is the average manager on in League 1?

I'll be honest the figures being bandied about won't be the exact pounds shillings and pence but they won't be plucked out of someone's behind either.

They will be representative to make comparisons.

Assumptions.

It's all a bit of a pointless arguement unless Rooney does so well another team comes in for him or he walks with no money and even Cocu didn't do that. So he could be on 10p or £10m it doesn't really matter.

Eh ? So it doesn’t matter how much we pay our Manager ?

Am trying not to argue the merits or demerits of whether Rooney is "worth" that salary merely saying that the reported figures won't be exact to the nearest penny but they won't have been plucked out of thin air either.

From April 2020. East Anglia Times

The survey, filled in by 18 Championship outfits and 15 in the third tier, also shows that one League One manager at a ‘southern club’ is trousering £550,000 a year – it seems highly likely that boss is Paul Lambert.

That wage is almost £400,000 more than the average manager’s wage in the third tier of £182,438.

That very instructive if it's true, equates to £3500 per week as an average.

Rooney would be on about 25 times that amount.

There's lots of sites quoting around 90k per week.

It won't be the exact figure but I imagine as well it won't be a kick in the arse off the true figure by the same token.

Its all very strange, at the time we signed Rooney the newspapers reported he was earning £2.6m per annum and that DCFC had agreed to match that.

1 year later they were reporting that we were paying him £90k per week.

Since then he has ended his playing career which, one would assume, also led to a variation of his contractual pay in a downward manner.

I dont believe for one second that as a manager of a Championship club that WR is earning £90k per week.

Why?

Pretty much every thread is littered with discussion of 'what a waste of money' certain players were...how much we paid for them, how much we sold them for. Its nearly always undisclosed but generally people have a reasonable idea ?

Well does it really matter what he earns, he is here and doing a good job in keeping the team playing their socks off, thats all i care about at the minute.
