Ilkestonram123
Hi Was looking at going to Wigan away for my birthday but don’t fancy the road rider and the trains are overpriced. Is there any other way of getting there ? Thanks

Comrade 86
Car share. Must be other Derby fans you could travel with. You could chuck em a pie and a pint at the game for their trouble.
Boycie
I think roadriders your best bet unless you can get a free lift from a stranger.

Gritstone Ram
I normally go by car. If you are under 26 you may be able to get a rail card knocking about 1/3 off the rail ticket prices. If you split the journey it may work out cheaper.
curb
Go on a split ticket site, you can get it much cheaper with a ticket from Derby to Crewe then Crewe to Wigan for example. Its also cheaper if you book on specific trains, but if you do that make sure you get the train stated on the ticket or they'll make you pay again. If you're thinking of doing a lot of away games then a railcard like the two together saves about 30% so pays for itself with one trip.
DarkFruitsRam7
Have a look for minibuses that pubs run in your area. I think the Neptune does one from Derby. The advantage over the Roadrider is that you can have a few cans on the way.

BarrowRam
At the moment northern trains are taking industrial action on a Saturday. Most trains won’t run after five o’clock in the evening.
