Derby blood
What a great season that was, last year at school, going to away games with my mates, taking 10,000 away to Sheffield United, seeing great players like Hindmarch, Sage, Gerorge Williams. John Gregory, Gary Micklewhite, Bobby Davison, Nigel Callaghan, and Phil Gee. Loved Arthur Cox's teams, good attacking play, solid at the back, and Bobby and Phil scoring goals for fun, we had a great balance to that team, 2 promotions in 2 years, and a few years later we was 5th in the old first division, and had 2 england internationals playing for us. The best manager we had in my years of watching the rams back in 1979. And i will always remember 1987, as a great year to be a rams fan, hope these years return soon. Abu Derby
I remember it very well. How did it all go pear shaped? That reminds me - Maxwell.

Yes if he we invested the season after finishing 5th the sky was the limit. Arthur cox built a very good side with a real mix of quality and graft, something we could do with now. ?? Enjoyed your post until you threw the 'great balance' quote in! Let us never taint the 80s and 90s with the garbage spouted by today's 'experts'. Let's just remember the times that 11 players used to go out and play for the fans without any of this pansy stuff we have to tolerate today before listening to some pundit telling us what we should see! Would have been lovely to have been back in the EUFA Cup.

EnigmaRam
My very first match I went to and sadly the one and only match I went to at the BBG. But what a match to have the privilege of going to, was a fantastic atmosphere.

Zag zig
Remember the Sheffield away game the most, not just for the result more because it felt like we took over that day. Few other great games like Leeds, Sunderland at home. The Christmas period when we really seemed on fire. Also remember Plymouth away with a few hundred fans before Christmas, crappy 1-1 draw, stayed in a older mates freezing cold Uni digs run by Kevin Summerfields mum, but more to do with ending up down union street

Don't know why that sticks in my mind ! Also when Portsmouth came visiting and set fire to Normanton ! Around 80 of them ran straight past me at the top of litchurch lane ! I saw them running towards me, I knew if I started running I was dead ! they just carried on and ran past me !! It was a truly great season ! Inverurie Ram
I was getting Teenage Kicks, running around various city's in Scotland, watching football and enjoying the buzz of early train journeys with lots of lads that were drinking brew for breakfast on route to a new destination, a new ground and enjoying another football trip away whilst now and again been lucky enough to get down to Derby to enjoy the magical feel of a walk round the town before enjoying every second in the walk to and from and around The Baseball Ground. I've had a lot to drink since 1987, and my memory has never been that great, but 30 years!..... don't time fly....
