Stive Pesley
If anyone wants a free crate of 8 beers from beer52.com I have a code RGEHZK or https://www.beer52.com/?freeCaseCode=RGEHZK You have to sign up but you can cancel before you have to pay for the next monthly crate, so it's essentially free beer McRainy and Rev 1

TuffLuff
On holiday in Tiree for the week. No pubs aside hotels so been sticking until cans of tenants but ventured out at the co-op this morning and discovered this cracker.
eddie
This is what I was supping this afternoon... Utterly wonderful (if you like geuze, of course). The Memsahib hates it, so all the more for me.

My missus was the same -thought it was horrible, until I pointed out that it's a similar taste to champagne (which she loves) and after that she enjoyed it. It was a mental thing - she couldn't comprehend beer tasting like that

Her beer tastes stretch as far as blonds and tripels - she's not at all adventurous.
McRainy
It’s arrived. Seems to be a mixture of hoppy pales and novelty stouts, mainly from South Africa. As I prefer traditional best bitters I wouldn’t pay the equivalent of £4 a pint for it, but as a freebie I’m not complaining. Don't forget to cancel ypur subscription :) If anyone else wants a freebie code for Beer52 -let me know. I have two more McRainy
May Contain Nuts
Also note that you actually have to phone them up to cancel the subsription. You can only put it on hold for a few months online, which doesn't work well for telephonophobes like myself! McRainy
McRainy
I might keep it on for a month or two, just to see what comes. I’m a telephone phobe too though, so I’ll get someone else to cancel it. Tonight’s tipple, followed by Ardbeg and cheese. It’s a chocolate stout at 8.5%; not the sort of thing I’d normally buy, so nice to have for a change: Steve How Hard? and Gritstone Ram
eddie
A couple of utterly awesome brews tonight in a bar near the casino in Oostende, neither of which I had ever tried before. The first one was Duchesse De Bourgogne, probably the most amazing Flanders Red it has ever been my privilege to try. This beer is matured in oak for 18 months, then mixed with an 8 month old brew which produces a product of outstanding complexity. Sweet, sour and incredibly fruity, all at the same time. The second offering was Moinette Brune, brewed by Brasserie Dupont (known particularly for their Saison, which is a personal favourite of mine). This is packed with complex flavours, in particular chocolate, dates, caramel, brown sugar, spices etc, but it's not cloying like you would expect. It has a nice crisp hoppy finish - the balance is perfect.
eddie
Today, we went to Brugge, and had a couple at the Halve Mann brewery. The Memsahib had Brugse Zot, I had Straffe Hendrik Wild and Quad. Yum. Off out in Oostende again tonight - Brugge tomorrow again, may go to the Bourgogne Des Flandres brewery.

Too tired to go down to Oostende tonight (was thinking of having a couple of hours at the casino, but passed). Stayed at the hotel, drinking Kasteel Donker and watching the yachts. Oh, the hardship. A Ram for All Seasons
Just been drinking cheap and cheerful Czech beer available from German supermarkets at € 1.50 for 1.5 litres, which works out at almost exactly 50p per pint. Tastes a bit like pale ale. Can't complain at that price.
richinspain
I haven’t drank beer in about 4 years because it often produces a migraine, but yesterday in my local Lidl I just couldn’t resist. Two bottles for 3€, an absolute bargain! mozza, Steve How Hard? and McRainy
eddie
Went to De Panne on the French border today. Was hoping to find some Mont Det Cats Trappist beer, but no dice, so I had a Corsendonk Pater instead. Ended up in Middelkerke where I had a lambic afternoon - Boon Gueuze Mariage Parfait followed by Mort Subite Kriek. Both beers are utterly sublime - if you like sour beers fermented using atmospheric/natural yeasts. Luckily, I adore them. The Memsahib stuck to Tripel Karmeleit.
