Ram a lamb a ding dong
Not sure about Arry being a tactical genius. Ability to gee up teams is beyond question however. imo so long as he's on the bench to offer advice all well and good. Im expecting he wont be involved with coaching as its never been his bag. To conclude tactically we will remain as/is. Arry will be able to add a few pearls of wisdom altho ability to close our a game has to be questioned. We are lacking a wise old head and seeing as MM remains loyal to Wassall this is about as good as it gets. This new develop proves b,a,r,d that we are waiting until May to appoint new boss. My short list of expected boss is a shortlist of: Dyche, Rodgers, Pearson, Howe, Warburton. Only reason the new boss hasnt been appointed is due to gardening leave/ loyalty to current club to see out the season. Will todays developments put us back in the game??????? I think so. Bring on the red dogs with Jossy tactical genius in charge. ?
rammieib
Have we got enough seats on the bench? Wassall, Lyons, Short, Arry, Phillips and Pascal. Not to mention the warm up guy and the physios. Beyond ridiculous now.

I'll support the decision to appoint Rednapp -- if and only if the appointment is for DOF. Head coach as a replacement of DW is fine by me, too. But if Rednapp is appointed as a "senior coaching staff" to "help and mentor" Darren Wassall as SR stated at BBC, IMO it would be a disaster. Doing so literally means DW is no longer considered to be fit for the job. It also means that MM insists keeping him rather than officially replacing him with Rednapp, simply because doing so would need MM to eat his own words. In other words, it would mean that MM cares about saving his face, much more than doing things right. But what is more disastrous about this appointment is it would undermine DW's authority. DW gets to keep the title but everyone would know that he is no real boss. But if DW is still officially the head coach he will need to oversee training sessions, instruct players, and give motivational talks. He will also need to tell players to go to clap the crowd at the end of the game . So what would you expect from Shackell when DW the figurehead does his "motivator" stuffs? In sum, please just appoint Rednapp as DOF or as the official head coach / manager. Please do not hire him as DW's "mentor" because it is going to be disastrous. Ziga Zaga10
I've never been a big fan of Arry but I think if it comes off it'll be a good appointment. The squad we have is made up of the best that we (A) could afford and (B) were realistically likely to attract given its the Championship we're playing in. Arry has a bit of presence about him and if he can lift the players to give what they all undoubtedly possess in terms of talent then this season might still have a tale to tell. Ones things for sure. There won't be any of em gobbing off at HIM at the final whisle.
needles
It seems clear that the guy they want or shortlist they want consists of people they can't readily get until summer. Rowett, Dyche and Warburton being the names bandied around, any one of whom would be a sensible and defensible appointment. Wass steps up to try to do the job in the interim and is struggling...although the football has improved in patches. Clearly it's not working so they decide to get an experienced man in to try to galvanise us for the run in. Sensible. I'm over the moaning, this season is done. The last few games are like chucking you last tenner on the roulette on the way out the casino. The night's over, the taxi's waiting, but there might just be one last happy twist in the tale. Would Dyche leave Burnley if they get promoted? Which seems very likely. He clearly knows how to manage a team in the championship. I think Warburton would be a good choice, if we could get him for next season.

Give me a list of what he has ever done in the game....and then divide it by the millions he has spent to do that and with that figure divide it by the amount of football clubs he has driven to the brink of bankruptcy and then multiply it by the amount of fans at any of the clubs he has ever managed who have even a tiny bit of respect for him...... he is a total chancer that the game has passed by and the fact that Mel thinks he is the right person to help out beggars belief if this is the Derby Way....You can keep it
RamNut
I don't think someone who is here for 9 games only has either the time or the authority to develop any kind of relationship with the players or enough of a remit to affect things greatly. The negatives outweigh the positives. If we wanted someone with experience to help advise dw then why not Roy Mac?

admira
It's not so long ago that he was the nation's darling and every man was screaming for him to be the next England manager. Maybe it's that ruddy Play Off final that has put people off him. Looking at the news feeds that are full of 'to be appointed'', 'in talks with', 'discussing role' etc, I take it it's not actually been confirmed yet? Not sure admira but all I know is Talksport confirmed him as "agreed to join" last night at 6:05. They are usually amongst the first to know in the media. So fingers crossed they are on the money. If anyone has the opportunity, take a blast up to Breadsall Priory and see if he is staying there prior to a press conference later today. Seems to be the hotel of choice. toddy
I really don't understand bringing in Rednapp for the remaining games as technical director of football and leaving Wassall as coach? Rednapp running the stuff behind the scenes and Wassall still running the first team?????? I can understand bringing in Rednapp as a replacement of Wassall as first team coach, but technical director of footie??
