Bris Vegas
Have been told these are the areas we're looking at strengthening in January. What do you make of it? Perhaps a shuffle in formation is on the cards? A more mobile striker who can come deep and go beyond the last defender in order to give Ince more room in the middle. A Ross McCormack type? Left-back makes sense aswe don't have much cover there. I'm surprised we're not targetting a new winger in all honesty. There doesn't seen anything in the McManaman links unfortunately, he'd be an ideal addition IMO.
cloughandtaylor
Come January I think we will go for striker that will give us that extra push for promotion and that striker would have to be able get us goals in the prem & that striker would have to be available of course to come in January. Only one that springs to mind is Charlie Austin it would cost us approx. £15 million - but he is proven scorer in the prem and at 26 there is still more to come from him. And he is available....... No one would pay £15m for Charlie Austin when he will be on a free in he summer. He isn't that good. Apart from that it's a good shout.
cloughandtaylor
Sage, 1 - He's already at one, if we are top 2 and talking the talk to him, then he will come, because in will be in the prem come May 2 - Yes, there is a possibility QPR would release him January as they need to claw some cash in. Hence JFH interview prior to Brighton game when he said its down to Charlie, he said he wants to stay so then he's staying...... 3 - Yes, we will of it means pushing on for promotion - not forgetting you do get a proven striker for the prem 4 -I don't think we would get in the summer - bidding war will start on wages per week, if the bigger clubs start we couldn't keep up.. Charlie Austin would also suit our 4-3-3 style, rather than playing a holding CF in the prem. How much does MM want his promotion, he did finish that Sky interview off with, ''no, its not if we get promotion, its when we get promotion''. David
Put yourself in Charlie Austin's shoes, he will already be on a decent wage. In the summer he rejected a move to Crystal Palace and a number of other clubs were interested. He's 6 months away from being a free agent, a possibility of even more clubs becoming interested in him. Yes he could join Derby in January but there is no guarantee we will be promoted, it's not unrealistic that a repeat Play off final could happen. Imagine joining us and seeing QPR go up? He would be mad to leave QPR now, absolute mad. And we would be mad bidding £15m for him.

ramsbottom
Reading his replies to this I believe that Super Rams is B4, but with sound grammar... As for another striker, if PC gets more joy out of the Bent/Ince axis in games I don't think he'll bother. Left back, potentially a loan in but only if Warnock picks up a serious injury. From what I've heard and read about max Lowe, he could do a job for the odd game.
Bris Vegas
With money to spend we could have some big targets in mind. Charlie Austin has already declared his intentions to stay at QPR until the end of the season.

Kernow
I think LB and striker is needed, so it makes sense. It's one of the areas I'd like to improve if we went up, so why not now? We're thin at left back. Could Fozzy cut it in the PL? The next game he's available for could be in the PL. We can't rely on Martin in the PL, we'll likely go down. Bent is probably past the PL, hence why he's here. Martin hasn't proven himself in the PL, and without movement may be muscled out of the game by PL defenders. Obviously depending on the quality, but two players who are PL quality would be lovely.

Question is though aren't we spent up with FFP in mind? We could recoup some by selling players. The only problem is who has any real transfer value that we could do without. We might get half a million for Albentosa. Maybe the same for Grant if Carson gets better soon. Certainly one of Shotton, Buxton or Pearce is likely to move on. After that you'd be selling genuine first teamers - would we gamble on selling Martin, Hendrick or Keogh? I would doubt it, but Fergie replaced Beckham with some cocky Portuguese lad, and that seemed to work out OK.
SIWY
Benik Afobe would be my pick for a striker. Although I haven't seen him play much, so can't comment on whether or not he'd fit in to our side, his goal scoring record speaks volumes (19 goals in 32 league apps according to wiki) and he is young too. As for left back, not too sure. We've been linked with Marcus Olsson so maybe him?

SIWY
I meant as in his style of play, obviously I've seen him scoring but I've never really focused on him and assessed how he plays or anything like that.
SIWY
From what I've seen of him against Derby and occasionally on TV he seems quite physical and decent at holding the ball up whilst also being relatively quick.

I will give you 100-1 that we don't sign Charlie Austin for £15m (or more) in the January window.
