New city version? Like a new GTA game?

Yeah in the past they have released multiple versions of the same game based in different cities - Vice City, San Andreas etc.  I guess it is a way to get a new game out of the same game engine.  Slightly easier than going to the next version (i.e. GTA6)

Interesting :). I never played Vice or San Andreas so I just assumed they were different games. It'd be cool if they went to a city with very densely populated streets so I can run over more people with the bus!

They are essentially different games, new features in San Andreas, new story characters etc. I think any new GTA game on current gen would look and play very similar, and with GTA online remaining popular, it would have to be for a new story mode and features. Might be a few years till we get another GTA.

Vice City was one of my favourite games on the PS2. Very simple compared to today's games, but enjoyed the feel of it.

I've loved all the GTA games, but I'm a little bit worried about the future of the franchise after GTA Online was such a huge success. GTA IV got two full additional games, set in the same city. GTA V has had no single player DLC content at all, whilst Rockstar focus their efforts on modelling a few new cars and weapons every month for the online mode. It makes sense from a business perspective. Why waste time, effort, and money on writing a new story when you can milk your online cash cow with minimal effort?

GTA Online is utter crap. I liked GTA because it's the best open world sandbox game, with amusing well crafted story lines and ultimately provides a huge amount of freedom to play the way you want to. GTA Online provides a second rate racing game, a third rate competitive shooter and the hilariously misnamed "heist" missions that all require you to drive to a location and kill everyone with zero planning or subterfuge involved.

In reading about the new exo-planets in the TRAPPIST-1 system, and that Elite: Dangerous predicted them, I've been playing the original Elite on an emulator.

Love it.

I've been meaning to play Elite for the longest time. Which version are you emulating and on what platform?

Thinking about GTA Online, I completely agrew with you. When a friend is online and I'm headset chatting, it's amazing, like playing an open world game with your mate(s). Plus the premise of building up your fortune to be able to get the higher end items gives it playability.

When all 2 (now 4 thanks to the dcfcfans party on Xbox) are not online though, online mode is boring to the extreme. I'd rather play single player, which as you say is fine while the content is there. I can see them making a new GTA game in a few years when numbers online drop below a certain amount. The hope is they've already got a team working on it now

I'm hoping the next game goes back to Vice City and the 80's. I'd love a current gen vice city.

Not the most recent version - if you go to the Elite Dangerous website, and go to the store, there's a free download of the BBC emulator BeebEm and the game for both Mac and PC.

We need a GTA london. Set over a changing history from swinging 60s, 70s punk, then Long Good Friday 80s. Maybe some Britpop, then modern day. Changing cityscape, tunes and locals. Our Friends in the North vibe.

One of the early games was GTA London wasn't it?  Back in the days where it was top down view.

Yeah I remember GTA London it was a nice little curio. And GTA 2 was a departure too, it was a bit sci-fi.

I thought about different locations, something a bit more exotic. I quite liked Sleeping Dogs which was set in Hong Kong for instance and wouldn't object to a GTA take on Hong Kong.

But I think Rockstar have really got their finger on the pulse when they're satirising American culture. I'd like to see more of that, especially an 80's set Vice City. I still listen to the OST, especially Fernando

VCPR was one of the funniest in game radio shows I've heard, and I must have looped it for hours as I put a lot of time into it. Every radio station had a few tracks that I would just instinctively join in with "I just died in your arms tonight..."
