LeedsCityRam
Excellent signing. Remember thinking he was well off the pace back end of last season (although clearly talented) but saw him on our opening day against Blackburn & couldn't believe it was the same player. Scores goals, creates assists, leads the line brilliantly and yes...wins more than his fair share of penalties & free kicks. He's a irritant to the opposition - a sure sign he's a top player. PistoldPete2
He shows so many deft touches its fantastic. The anti-Sammon, if you will. That first time ball to release Bryson for the Bamford goal was sublime. Yes his flicks and tricks set up the runners in the team like Bryso We so missed him against Millwall , think we need a proper sub for him; Sammon sometimes does well when he comes on for 15 to 20 mins but hes a very different player, no real substitute for Martin if hes injured or suspended. Abu Derby
It goes without saying - so I'll say it - Chris Martin has been absolutely brilliant this season. You've got to hand it to Clough for signing him up, and recognising that his talents would make him the main cog in our goal machine.

This is what Clough had in mind when he played Shefki Kuqi in that role with Commons, Cywka and Bueno buzzing around him. He finally found that fulcrum in Chrissy Martin, just a season too late to save his job. Martin as the centre of it with Bryson, Russell, Hughes, Hendrick, Ward etc all feeding off him, he wanna far off for all his faults. Very few players about who can do what Martin and Kuqi do/did. CumbrianRam
Would be mid-table without him, so important.

Glad someone mentioned Kuqi. Kuqi was not the best player. He couldn't really beat a man or produce much magic. He was just reliable. He did the simple things. Martin does have a few tricks up his sleeve but essentially he's not magic to watch. Like Kuqi. But when you get the likes of Bueno and Dawkins etc around such players it gives them that anchor to work with. Without Kuqi and now without Martin it can feel like all the magic in the world won't help if you're stuck in the middle of the park and a whole team to play through. The perfect player for how we play and is crucial in our current system and form in general this season. Also my player of the season...
Duracell
Most important thing - no matter which division we're in - is to get someone to cover for him, or even compete for his place. We've been incredibly fortunate with Martin's fitness this season.

Good thinking but can't think of anyone remotely like him who would be in our price range. Any suggestions? We've been incredibly fortunate with Martin's fitness this season. rammieib
I Think McClaren knows that Sammon is absolute pish but I think it will be more challenging to get rid of Sammon than it will be to get a second striker in who can act as a back up but also fit into our system... North_Stand_Ram
Sammon will be gone in the summer, no doubt about that. Regardless of division.
TroyDyer
Sammon will be gone in the summer, no doubt about that. Regardless of division. Is just finding someone to take him. Mind you, if Wigan can double their money after 1 goal in 35, we could flog him to Sheff United for 2.4m
