Leicester Ram
The Squad: Goalkeepers: Fraser Forster (Celtic), Ben Foster (West Bromwich Albion), Joe Hart (Manchester City), John Ruddy (Norwich City). Defenders: Leighton Baines (Everton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Steven Caulker (Cardiff City), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Luke Shaw (Southampton), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur). Midfielders: Ross Barkley (Everton), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Tom Cleverley (Manchester United), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Southampton), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), James Milner (Manchester City), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Raheem Sterling (Liverpool), Andros Townsend (Tottenham Hotspur), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal).Forwards: Jermain Defoe (Toronto FC), Rickie Lambert (Southampton), Jay Rodriguez (Southampton), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Daniel Welbeck (Manchester United). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Biggest talking points: Luke Shaw and Jermain Defoe's inclusion. Barkley, Sterling and Rodriguez also picked. Thoughts on the squad? I'm a bit p*ssed off that Cleverley's been included again especially over Tom Huddlestone, who's had an extremely good season at Hull so far this year or Gareth Barry who's also been playing very well at Everton. Ambitious
I think our best 11 is in there, somewhere - not sure that's the best squad mind. All in all, very uninspiring. Like I said this morning. Daveo had a go at me.
Ambitious
Also. John Terry is a huge, huge, huge loss to our side. Incredible, how Hodgson hasn't sucked him off just to get him back, although that probably wouldn't help.. what's Bridge's (ex)wife doing nowadays... Duracell
There's a decent team in there, definitely. In reality we're not significantly worse than any side since the early '90s. Still a lot of names in there that make me wince - most of them from the bigger clubs.

Sidwell would have been a decent addition in there too, he's been a shining light in a very poor Fulham side. Also, interesting to see that four keepers have been picked, thought only 3 were normally selected? Kind of surprised Defoe has been picked... getting on now and will be playing in a relatively uncompetitive league compared to the prem. Considering this is the provisional world cup squad, I'd have preferred to see someone like Vokes in the squad.... i.e. an up and coming talent. Alph
Thought Andy Carroll is back fit? He's England's secret weapon. Anyway, better hope for no injuries in the back 4 considering 1 of the starters is ***** anyway. Ben Foster eh? heh
AndyinLiverpool
An England manager's latest attempt to make a silk purse from a sow's ear. It's the best league in the world, you know. Only it doesn't export players. Not English ones anyway.
Gaspode
worrying in a world cup year that we have a squad with so many distinctly average players....
BondJovi
No idea how Cleverley has wrangled his way in, been a lot better performers than him, just at less glamorous clubs, Huddlestone for one. Also, Smalling... Not sure what Defoe is doing there either. Why is it a bold choice like Shaw always has to be balanced out by players clearly only be picked for the stature of their club? Ambitious
Vokes? be careful what you wish for. 24-years-old. done well this season, but there is a reason he wasn't expected to. 4 goals in 46 games last season and 5 goals in 30 appearances for Wales. Poor show.
McClarensLads
What good will ever come by having Chris Smalling and Tom Cleverly in any team that exists.
