Reading target Jack Hobbs has been recalled by Hull City from his loan spell at Nottingham Forest.

The 25-year-old defender was expected to seal a permanent move to the City Ground this month having spent a successful first half of the season with Billy Davies' side.

Forest owner Fawaz Al Hasawi even tweeted last week that he had agreed a deal with the Tigers for the centre-back.

But there has been no official confirmation since and today Hull announced that they were bringing Hobbs back to the KC Stadium.

The Premier League side say they recalled Hobbs due to an injury to Jack Chester who has been ruled out for six weeks.

But Hobbs is also injured at the moment and is cup tied so would not be able to play in Hull's FA Cup game at Southend tomorrow anyway.

So his sudden recall has raised further questions about his future and there are reports that he has failed to agree personal terms with Forest.

Reading maintain a strong interest in Hobbs and have been speaking to Hull for weeks about the defender who boss Nigel Adkins had at Ssausagehorpe United.

Royals know what it would take to bring the former Liverpool man to Madejski Stadium but any move remains dependant on the club being takeover.

Adkins wanted to bring in Hobbs as well as a left-back and striker before next Friday's 11pm transfer deadline.

But the ongoing ownership situation means his hands are tied and he is not hopeful of being to add to his squad .

hoping for 20,000 tonight according to my black and white scarf wearing chum. £10 a ticket.

I think they're expecting quite a few more than that.
