    Not all strikers link up play though? I take your point that you want him using his pace and power, he can do so in a central striking role too by driving at the defence or offering an option in behind when playing on the shoulder of the last man.
    It’s not his natural position but he can definitely do a job there. NML is a great option for the squad in a couple of different positions and means we have some tactical flexibility, whether Warne uses that is a different question.

    He finished last season playing as one of the 2 behind the central striker in a 3-4-2-1, he covered at rwb when called upon, he can play as a wide forward in a 3-4-3, he can play as a winger in a 4-2-3-1, he can play as a winger in a 4-4-2 and he could do a job as a striker when asked to in a 3-5-2. Not his natural position but his pace and power would frighten some defenders, it would stretch the defence, give us an option “over the top”, plus he can finish as evidenced yesterday;

    Should he be our main choice as a striker? No. Can he play there? In my opinion, yes.

    I think playing as a wide/inside foward is NML best position.

    Yes, I wasn't implying otherwise. Just it would be Collins, Washington, A.N.Other and youngster, now to be Brown.

    I think we could certainly make if to January at least (then reassess) with three "established" centre fowards and Brown as the 4th.

    I agree though having two more would impact Brown's progress.

    Or if we were interested are we now not to give Brown a chance instead?

    Even if we sign another centre Brown will still get a chance throughout the season if we often play with two up top.

    I took from the interview that it’s 2 or 3 more permanent signings and then we’ve also got loan spaces to use and will do so. So perhaps Warne’s decided he does need more bodies in the squad. I could have misunderstood it though 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Who knows? I suppose it's easy to read too much into these interviews.

    I think we have a strong core we just need a few additions. If they are loanees then thats fine by me.

    Listen to the last couple of minutes of this interview from after the Chesterfield game (or listen to all of it);

    Matt Hamshaw talks about the 5 or 6 players due back from injury who will strengthen the side when they’re back. He then says Warne wants to add “2 or 3…probably more in”, HOPEFULLY before the season starts but if it has to be later in the window then so be it. He also mentions they wanted us to have all the loan spaces available by this point.

    I know you’re keen to see more signings, we all are, you need to accept that they will happen at the point they happen. Clearly it’s not an exact science and so long as the intent and effort to add players is there (which it clearly is) all we can do is wait. The staff know what we do, there’s a need to add more up front, and they’re looking to do so. Try and find a way not to worry so much.

    Sounds like most of our attacking additions could be loan players?

    If we play 352 we can play Collins and Washington up front. With 343 we can use Barkhuisen and NML as inside forwards. That's what I'm hoping Warne is thinking to keep the opposition thinking.

    I agree. It's good to have options and different ways of playing depending on the game.

    Hopefully we can add another foward to add further fire power and options to pick from.

  7. I think we will mix it up using both a 343 and a 352/3412 next season. At times playing with two centre fowards whilst on other occasions playing with inside fowards (which for me would get the best of NML).

    Which ever formation we use we need more attacking additions with a goal scoring number 9 being the priority. Is Rhodes ideal? No. But I do think he would do a job in finding the back of the net.

    I know people wouldn't want Chris Martin here, I personally think he would be a good signing for any league 1 side.

    Oh, for sure, he’s speed of thought would be a huge asset at this level. We haven’t seen him play for a long time, admittedly, but I can’t imagine that’s something he’s lost.

    If he could find the back of the net for QPR in the Championship I am pretty sure he could do the same in League One. Also with Chrissy it's not just goals but how he brings others into play.

    Reading seem to be building a decent team, could be a lot of us teams vying for 1 place if they continue.

    I agree. They are building a decent sqaud, hopefully we can beat Reading to Wing.

  10. If he was playing and banging in goals in the championship last year surely he can do the same in league one? Is McGoldrick a traditional PW player ? No, he wasn't but he was the first name on his team sheet last season.

    Rhodes 33, Washington 32 and Collins 31 we would have one dimension strike force average 32 years which could have another great season together if we continue to deliver crosses like Ward can

    I would be concerned if we brought in Rhodes on a massive salary and a long contract. If he fits in with the wage restructure of the rest of the sqaud on a 12 or 24 month contract then I think he could be a welcome addition bolstering our front line.
