We lack both pace and bite in the middle of the pitch for me. Neither Bird or NML looked comfortable today in their number 10 roles either.
I think we would look better with a box box midfielder and another CF to play with Collins up top. In a 352.

Great news. We could have done with Waggy today.

Struggle to see where the goals will come from.

Will Conor Washington be fit to play a role today?

I doubt it as there isn't mass flooding stopping the teams/officials getting to Pride Park.

From what i was told last night hes decided to join Derby. Obviously Blackpool were in.
Thanks for confirming. If so this would be a great bit of business from us. Versatile, hard working place who will fit in well at the club.

Waggy is in lads.
Do you know this for sure mate ? We are getting mixed messages on if he has/will or not.

It would be a right kick in the teeth if we wasted time with Waghorn, giving him minutes in friendly games for him then to sign for a rival team.
It would certainly bring into question Paul Warnes 'pull' if a player who has previously played for Derby, lives near Derby and has been training with Derby for 3 weeks goes and signs for a club 2 hours up the road 😆
Unless the salary that we was offering was well below others.

Having heard Warne say yesterday, that if Waghorn accepts the deal he would expect it to be completed in the next 6 or 7 hours, I'd imagine that the more time that passes, the less likely it is to happen.
This my worry. Why would we wait ages if its been signed to announce the deal?

He has probably signed days ago..just waiting for a publicity stunt today
Hopefully that is the case.

Less than 3 hours to sign him up !

Really?! Smith is a better player & far more productive than Waghorn. He’s an ideal signing!
Is he really?

Will we get the Waggy deal over the line in time?

Odd wording by Dorsett, how can our focus primarily be on Smith if we’ve offered Waghorn a deal as reported by Warne himself? If we’ve offered one a deal and are busy negotiating for the other then surely that means our focus is by definition on both of them?
Very confusing. I would take Smith but not over Waghorn.

I hope he isn't off to Blackpool. He would be a perfect fit here at Derby. Concerning if Blackpool are offering him considering more wages.

When did the 6-7 hour time frame start? Could we expect a late night announcement?

...must admit I'd thought that...but its just as likely at this point that he's signed and they just havent announced it yet....
This could well be the case and then wait until tomorrow night to announce it?

Well they have to be fully registered with the efl by 12 tomorrow, so unless we try rush it early tomorrow morning it’ll be today.
Fingers crossed. He's training with us so there is no reason why he couldn't fit into our match day squad straight away.

To me this is a no brainer.
Won't take up much of the budget. Can play across the front line, threat from a set piece. Works his socks off. Loves the club. Confident he would chip in with around 10 goals.
Most clubs in this league would have Waghorn in a heartbeat.
Get him in on a one year deal.
I am confused why this hasn't been signed and sealed yet. Hopefully it will be in time for Saturday.

I think the name has been mentioned before but would Max Lowe be available on loan? We need another left wing back.

So no twitching?
Hypothetical example…
Pursue Rhodes on a 12k / week plus wage.
Or…
May 4k / week
Waghorn on 3k / week
Bonis on 1.5k / week
and some nominal fees and creative bonuses.
We were in pole position a month ago. Not now. Because others with less money have thought creatively.
Alfie May would have been the pne for me but that ship has sailed now. Rather Waggy than Rhodes.
3 at the back….

Our back 3 need time to gel and get used to playing together. That chemistry and relationship between them won't come over night.
