We could all have stayed in bed, including the players, and we would still have gone up automatically 😂

Has anyone actually posited any of the arguments you cite? Can you quote an example please?
Seems to me you're addressing statements that have never been made, least not on here. For clarity, I've not seen even one post stating we're good to go with what we've already got, nor that Warne's prior record in the Championship fills them with confidence for the challenge ahead.  The only folk who have unwittingly suggested we have sufficient quality are those who claimed we should have walked the league last season because we had a Championship level squad to work with whilst in L1. In so much, is there even a debate to be had?

To miss out on promotion, we would have to have been 6 points worse off.
If we had gained 5 points more we would have been champions.

Surely the derby that turned up each time is the one that accumulated the highest points total EVER is their history. I always knew which one turned up, the one that ground out wins to get promoted.

Performance can be related to a number of things, football is played many different ways, the one that PW deployed got results, just because it was not to the liking of some, doesn't mean he wasn't consistent.

    This is mental this.
From October onwards we accumulated more points than anyone else in the league and were it not for Portsmouth's unbelievable start (where I think hey won their first 10) we would have won the league. The start can be forgiven giving it was a squad that had a lot of new players in finding their feet at a new club.
But as soon as we got going, we earnt more points than anyone else.
Also we conceded 3 goals in the last ten games. THREE. And two of them were in one game.
The last 11 games we won 8 drew 2 and lost 1. If that is inconsistent then you gave give me inconsistency any day of the week.
Paul Warne was appointed here because he knows how to get out of this league, you need to be solid. Playing good football is fine, but not really a pre-requisite of getting out of League One. Bolton probably played the best football on the eye last season and they are still down there.
Warne will not play the same way in the Championship, he's not stupid. He wants athleticism and a high press to suffocate teams.
I will openly admit after Stevenage and Shrewsbury I wanted Warne out but I can hold my hands up and admit I was very wrong.
I can't believe a man who seems to be a genuinely nice human who has got us promoted with the highest points total we have ever had, the most away wins we have have had still gets criticism.
He gets beaten with a stick every time we get linked with a player who has played for Rotherham. (I think we only have Vickers and Washington) Its pretty common for managers going to other clubs, 1. To get linked with nearly every player who has ever played for him and 2. To actually like players they have had before, trust them and wants them at his current club. Eddie Howe signing Lloyd Kelly today for as an example.

Yes I do , I used the word efficient. The squad achieved results on a consistent basis , achieved 92 points and conceded the fewest goals and got promoted.

I had a look at this a while back and of the current retained list, we have two players who I believe had played only 40 games under Warne between them. The fact is, we could sign Rodak tomorrow and some would still choose to complain. Sadly, I fully expect the bulk of those who poured the most scorn to return the moment results take a downturn, while some have never ceased despite the promotion, a stance for which I have very little respect.
To my way of thinking, Warne did an excellent job in guiding us out of an absolute bear pit of a division. Of course, the acid test of his ability to build a winning team starts now, but those who pour over every journo link and every word he utters desperately looking for reasons to snipe, probably need to look closer to home for the reasons they derive no joy from the club's resurgence. It's true and fair to point out that Warne faces a very different challenge now and will do so without us being the biggest fish in a small pool too. It absolutely won't be easy and we may need a period of consolidation before meaningful progress is achieved, but my hunch is that he remains somewhat underestimated by his critics, of which I was one, at the time of his appointment.
I hope he continues to prosper and I also hope he will look to play in a style that pleases the purists too. We would all of us love to see us playing in an expansive fashion, but the game is becoming increasingly technical and such a brief is a tough ask, especially mid-rebuild. That said, I would no longer be surprised should he manage to achieve both aims, but should he fail, I'll still retain significant respect for a manager who oversaw our emergence from one of the darkest periods in the club's long history.

The only previous occasion DCFC have been promoted from the 3rd tier in my lifetime was under Arthur Cox. As much as I loved Arthur and his team, I remember how frustratingly inconsistent they were in the promotion season. The biggest difference between the two teams, and what gave Warne's team an 8 point advantage, was their ability to turn draws to victories, whereas Arthur's team let an awful lot of leads slip IIRC. Had the play-offs existed at that time, they wouldn't have even gained automatic promotion. Thank goodness there was no internet either eh?

Also highest points total ever, by ANY manager.

He needs to do another interview, so he can get bashed for that, as we seem to be going over old ground again.

Or maybe the fact we haven't signed anyone yet shows that he can't attract players...waiting for that one 😉

Fewest goals conceded, best goal difference in the league, highest points total and highest number of away wins in the club's history.
If we even get vaguely close to replicating that level of 'inconsistency' anytime soon, I shall be thoroughly delighted.
