Why do we continue to discuss a man so inadequate and irrelevant? I appreciate that your post is offered more in humour than meaningfulness, but why give the hateful little rick the attention he so clearly craves?
Even his fellow OTIB users more or less ignore him. Perhaps we should do the same...

My piss is boiling right now!! I’m so angry. Seething!! This is an absolute disgrace!! The EFL is a shocking organisation that panders to its most vocal members. This isn’t about financial fair play, integrity of the league or making clubs sustainable, this is politics pure and simple!! I want the administrators to publish everything, i want to know exactly what we have done that constitutes a 9 point penalty, how much have we breached by to the pound and penny - if it adds up to a 9 point deduction then fair enough and it’s more Mel lies. If it doesn’t, then we’ve been totally done over -  exploited due to our position being in admin and needing closure to sell the club. If it’s never released then we know the answer.

That all said, despite being angry at the EFL   the main person to blame for all of this is Mel. He plunged us into admin, he started the fight with the EFL and he ran away and both issues have contributed to us now being relegation certainties in November.

Let’s just get all the points penalties now and start next season fresh with a new owner in League One.
People saying -21 points is the worst case scenario. it isn’t at all. We’re already going down with -12 points. Worst case scenario is relegation and then for the financial irregularity / punishment points deduction to happen in League One.
Starting next season in League One with zero points, a new owner and no hanging points deduction is among the best case scenarios.

Anyone believing that they can achieve some sort of beast-level catharsis by making others as miserable as they feel is in for a nasty shock. Writing down one's reasons for feeling sad or anxious, or annotating those feelings, is a million miles away from venting one's spleen at a complete stranger via social media.
On thread, as regards the additional 9 point deduction, if it's true, there ought to be some form of enquiry into how exactly this is known by a journalist before the EFL have formally laid out the specifics of the charges brought and the penalties attached to them. It stinks to the high heavens and speaks to the incredibly divisive way they have sought to undermine the club at every juncture. After two years of embargos, with all the issues such sanctions bring, we now find ourselves looking at a 21 point sanction on top and for what? For using ERV and not straight line amortisation policies!
If these reports are true, then I can imagine precisely the line they have adopted in their 'negotiations; challenge either or both charges and we'll seek to expel you from the league. If this is correct then it's small wonder that the talks were 'adjourned' and even less surprising that Mel felt he had to walk away. So much for the 'integrity of the league'. No question, we've made errors of judgement, but has any club ever been faced with such a heavy price to pay for what was, compared to other clubs' transgressions, a relatively minor offence?

Well I have been saying this for some time now . Efl is corrupt … rotten to the core .
how on Earth can it help the stakeholders in Derby County in our current position …  the creditors , the fans , the players , all of us … and all of us innocent of any wrongdoing whatsoever… to deduct a frigging 21 points from us and pretty much guarantee relegation?
it could even hasten the club into liquidation , and certainly won’t help the payout to creditors. So what purpose does it serve other than satisfying the sadistic villains at the Efl and all their cronies?

If this does prove to be correct it could help us..
We can build a league 1 squad in January, sell those that won't fancy it or will be priced out of our revised budgets..we can land in League 1 running..it doesn't often work that way with teams relegated on the last day and having to react and plan in 6 weeks..

    Bump.
Given the Percy news.... I'd say, if confirmed, we start giving experience to the young players who will be here next year.
Let's hope Kirchner keeps his word that relegation would not affect his bid because he's looking at the longer term. As I said in another thread, let's hope he realises just how long that might be...

Has any Derby manager had to deal with anything like Rooney has ?
Judge him on a level playing field surely.
When all this madness is over and IF Rooney is still in charge then that's when he should be judged in my opinion

I just hope the new owner does not view his tenure in such simplistic terms and looks and the whole picture.

Hence why it's important to clarify his position, players such as Bird, Knight could obviously play at a higher level, yet if they are on board with Rooney, chances are they will agree to stay.
No FFP in League 1, so no immediate reason to sell, unless players want out

Hopefully Rooney still has the passion and motivation to carry on. If he leaves it will be a devastating blow to the football club in my opinion. I hope he stays with us and brings this club back to where it belongs. He would be a legend.

just to touch on it again it can't be understated how important it was rooney keeping us up last season.
If we had gone down on that day we would be facing these deductions in league one and probably looking at league two next season and then who was going to inherit the debts we have in the english 4th division?
That Sheff W game could go down as the most important in our history, and rooney was the manager that day and for me he will always be remembered for that and should be rewarded when the club finally has some stability off the pitch

oh come on. stability for the sake of stability? do you realise what a good job rooney has done here?
Not only did he keep us up he has us a mid table side with a squad that has barely enough quality to compete in league one.
people are utterly mad if they think somebody can come in and do a better job than rooney under the circumstances. for me he should be top of the to do list when a takeover happens of extending his deal and backing him properly.
Starting this season we had no hope at all, for months rooney has had us believing we can actually stay up even with a point deduction and no players.

It has been earned and no we don't need a circus or distractions, what that has to do with Rooney I don't know.
Any managerial appointment is a risk, there's less risk in sticking with what you have and the players are on board with.
Rooney has instilled a fighting spirit this season, something we will desperately need next season.
Would have been so easy to walk away and hold his head up high, but he stuck with us, incredible really given the circumstances.
Can't think of anyone I would rather have lead us into next season. Hopefully he still has the hunger for it.

Once the new owner is in place, first job give Rooney a new contract, show him the love, clean slate and bounce back next year.
Right now we need some good news, this would be it.
The players would appreciate this as well, we don't need the added uncertainty of will he or won't he go leaving them questioning their own futures.

A man after my own heart. Have never understood the logic of having everyone back in the six yard box.
This game needs to be more about messing with the oppositions' heads rather than playing to accepted norms and procedures.
Imagine winning a corner in the 3rd minute and Roos goes up! You're telling me that's not going to slightly twist their thinking.

How many have genuinely felt we would stay up this season? Lots had hope, but all the uncertainty made it impossible to be sure.
My view was as soon as the administration was confirmed, we were down. Even before the season I felt it would be a hard watch and slow descent to league 1. This news just confirms all those emotions.
However, this team have already performed way above my expectations. Blackburn was not a good watch, but I expected that the be the norm, so can accept games like that. And we didn’t even get smashed, even keeping it close at the end. This lot have shown they will scrap and fight more often than not.
League 1 will be tough. But give us a team that plays with heart and desire, and the fans will turn up. The fans have been pretty much sensational this season. As a North stander, I’ve had nothing but pride watching them sing (and bounce).

This stinks of EFL desire to see us punished (relegated or out of existance), one way or the other.
The administrators noted a month or so back (think it was on TalkSport) that they were expecting the EFL discussions to have a conclusion within 3 weeks to allow for a purchase to take place thereafter, and likely concluding in the 1st week of Jan. My guess is that we need it to go through then given cashflow constraints and current runway running out early in 2022. From memory, the administrators have never confirmed they have funding for the season but were confident we'd complete it (indicating my point).
A purchase will not go through until the points deduction is agreed. We cannot afford for the points deduction decision to slip any further. The EFL, by adjourning our case, have backed us into a corner as we cannot viably continue post January and hence need to accept whatever punishment they throw at us. I.e. the 21 points, full book punishment.
This is ludicrous, outrageous and unethical behaviour by the EFL. Although what did we expect. Again, not admonishing MM of any blame, but this smacks of a political agenda and DCFC being made an example of.
(Caveat that the above is based on Nixon's article being true)

So after all these weeks & months in talks with the EFL we end up with the 9 point deduction anyway. What an absolute waste of time. Also shows that there is no point talking with the EFL as they wont change from what they want.
So what does this mean about the integrity of the league this year, we have played 17 games where for the most part showed some fight and gave opposition a good game, whereas now we may as well blood the youngsters ready for next season or go all out attack. Complete different mentality for these remaining games than the first set.
